So, how was that movie anyway? Playlist • Collab #25: Mario Part... Twitter / therunawayguys Facebook / therunawayguys Our channels / chuggaaconroy / nintendocaprisun / protonjonsa
Shockwave527 haha. In all seriousness, a tas run of that reaches 9k in half the time you get, and then doesn't give you more points. So Jon did it 4 times slower than a tas, which is pretty impressive.
For all the flack this and Rainbow Castle gets, I think they're really fun, albeit slightly more luck-based. I just love how hectic Castaway Bay can be, swapping between rolling high or rolling low to catch DK or avoid Bowser. All this knowing full well anyone can change the boats at anytime. I always play it when I boot up MP6.
For those of you wondering, the TAS record for Snow Whirled is 9720°. That's the actual score limit; the TAS accomplishes it in about half the allotted time.
Does the game work if you mash all 4 buttons at once? Maybe someone could pull it off if they just try to hit all four buttons mashing instead of trying to hit a pattern.
Hah, no... Playing the Snow Whirled mini-game can take TRUE SKILL. I remember in my attempts for getting a record of about *OVER 8000* degree spins. Destroying even the brutal leveled CPUs. Thus damaging my thumbs in the process...
It may be because there's no backlog of another game. If i recall correctly, when two games are going at once, things like this, Dokapon, and Fortune street only go up on specific days per week or once a week if the other time slots are filled by the other game. this whole "every day but breaks when the boards are over" thing is fairly new in recent TRG scheduling
This should be an interesting time, for *shore* Also, during the day the mushroom statue can give you orbs or coins and at night it can swap everyone's places. Pretty powerful.
I'm sure Jon won the game in MP1. The Rainbow Castle in MP1 had Wario losing, but only because he was on idiot mode, so the AI here could be as bad as SlimKirby's AI. Due to how much of a deck Toad is he could be the third AI to win.
Jon Luc, you're absolutely wrong. Chugga won the overall game in MP1. Jon only won on Mario's Rainbow Castle and Yoshi's Tropical Island while Chugga won on Bowser's Magma Mountain, DK's Jungle Adventure, Peach's Birthday Cake, Luigi's Engine Room, and Eternal Star while Tim won on Wario's Battle Canyon.
Will Toad be victorious? Will Jon win AGAIN, because of his multiple wins? Will Tim survive the Bowser ship and win? Will Chuggaa ever get to the end of the board? Find out next time in the oh so lousy, Mario Party 6: Castaway Guys [Season 3]!
Hooray! Another board! :D Okay question: who else here, like me, watches these videos not caring who wins or loses but to listen to 3 awesome guys laugh, have fun and react to all the shenanigans? I love TRG and there hasn't been a series that I haven't enjoyed. ^-^ 16:19 - Case in point. I'm dying xD
What a turn of events. DK used to be able to get stars while Toad passed them around like hot cakes. Now Toad is able to get the stars while DK passes them around like hot cakes. What a twist!
Never played Mario Party 6, only 7 and above, and I just noticed how the background music to this map is the same melody as the mode select in MP7, which is built around a tropical theme. That's actually really cool and has a fair bit of thought put into it, not quite what I'd expect from Mario Party music.
0:09 How topical (tropical?) of Tim. 1:28 I feel like this music inspired some of MP7's tracks and the overall cruise theme. 4:02 I wonder if the bells only work if the time of day matches the lighthouse they are next to. Still don't know what the shrine action space does exactly. 8:17 Have you seen his Eagle animation in World Tour? 9:19 Guess it's not determined by day/night. So then why the day and night lighthouses? Just aesthetics as Emile guessed? 16:20 He's speaking in tongues!
Keep in mind that on this board you get stars from DK on a ship. Daisy would have to go on that ship to get a star. Chugga originally played as DK in the first four Mario Party games. See where I'm going with this?
This isn't related to your comment, but I just saw a comment you posted on one of SlimKirby's video on this board that was from three years ago the other day. xD
This is personally my favorite board in Mario Party 6, it reminds me of that Mario Party 1 board, Mario Rainbow Castle. Plus I love the island theme as well
TheYoungLinkSociety The way I interpreted it was that Emile would have rather had a new gimmick than a returning one that he may or may not like any more. Certainly Jon doesn't care for it.
In cae someone is curious: The max score for the Snow Whirled minigame is 9720. There is a TAS you can find on RU-vid, where Yoshi just flies for 2 seconds, and then makes the 9720º spin on a second. It's quite hilarious. There are also people who can do that with their own hands, which is quite amazing.
JESUS CHRIST, JON, my record on Snow Whirled was like, freakin' 3420. That's some HELLA dexterity you've got to mash that sequence out so quickly and flawlessly over and over. I'm also glad you found the _other_ strategy for Fruit Talktail :p I like the gradual progression from "this minigame is impossible" to "oh never mind" over the course of the last few boards.
I love how most of 6's maps are amalgamations of previous map mechanics, like the star/-star switch from mario's rainbow castle, the happening statue appeal from shyguy's temple, and the return of Boo spaces... This may not have been the best Mario Party game, but it had the majority of the best boards, some even being refined versions of previous ones! (Even if Mic mode was a wholly unnecessary mechanic that would follow it into 7...)
Castaway is the only movie to make me fully cry. Granted, I was really young at the time, but man Wilson floating away really hit me when I was 8 or so.
In Daft Rafts, it's usually a pretty good idea to stay behind a bit. Everybody gets in your way in that game. Let them go ahead, hope that they screw each other up, (which is pretty likely) then safely hop your way to victory.
Jon: "Waluigi's good at going in circles!" Me: And now it's officially canon, between Jon's snowboarding mastery and BSC's Ryan ding the troll loop on Waluigi Island.
The maximum possible score you can get in Snow Whirled is 9720; the game straight-up won't let you spin more beyond that. It's been done multiple times in real time. The TAS throws some theatrics in and just has the character stand still for most of it, only for them to rapidly spin and accrue that amount in less than two seconds.
Castaway Bay... the references to Castaway (WILSON!!!!!) were timely, but I would have preferred something about island exploration. Interesting how they reused something from the very first Mario game in this board, and the games related to this board look awesome at night. PLAY ON!
Wow, Chuggaa! You really surprised me! I didn't know MXC was even still a thing! I remember watching it with my parents back when I was a kid! Waluigi's good at spinning in circles? Y'know, after seeing Ryan from BSC in Mario Party 3, I can believe that...
12:48 It's minigames like this one that make me wonder why Shy guy (or others) wasn't playable at this point. I mean, he looks like he had a bunch of animations ready, right here. But I am but a non-initiated, for all I know, it probably takes way longer than I think to make one character for those games.
Trouble with increasing the playable character roster is that there ends up less variety left to carry out board events & minigames (and since you only get to choose 4 characters per play a lot of animations end up underused). Shy Guy always made more sense as a playable than Boo though.
am i the only one that the last time they have seen these guys was since their new super mario bros wii playthrough? i can barely tell who is who except for chugga yelling haha. the good old days. i come back to chuggas channel and its only at 1 mil what happened : (
Only at 1 million? That's quite an accomplishment, and it's not like his subscriber count ever had a declining trend. I forgot how many subscribers he had when TRG started (like 200k?).
What the layouts for the boards seen so far resemble: -Towering Treetop: Mario's head from the side -E. Gadd's Garage: Still waiting for someone to identify that one (though *no one* seems to be arsed) -Faire Square: Mushroom -Snowflake Lake: See E. Gadd's Garage -Castaway Bay (*current*): I got nothin'
Jon's reaction to the board description: "Youre lousy!" "that was a real good kick, especially for heels..." do we know for sure she has heels on under there? 14:58 tim should have gone to the left, taken the red space, and then used the warp pipe next turn to screw over literally anyone
I looked up a TAS of mario part 6 mini games just because you brought it up, yes it goes very fast and it caps out at 9720, anything past that won't count
While Bowser Spaces are around at night and DK Spaces are around in the day (which both are 3 turns long; the day/night cycle), on Castaway Bay, this board is the only one in Mario Party 6 where Bowser can be seen in the day and Donkey Kong can be seen at night (I mean: "This is the only one board that Bowser and Donkey Kong can be seen on both cycles".). This is because the DK Riverboat and the Bowser Yacht switch places each time the player lands on either one. But still, Bowser Spaces appear in the night cycle and DK Spaces appear in the day cycle. So these spaces remain unchanged like the other 4 boards (Towering Treetop, E. Gadd's Garage, Faire Square, and Snowflake Lake). The one board out of the six playable boards that has no Bowser Spaces and DK Spaces is Clockwork Castle. That is because you are following Bowser at the night cycle and Donkey Kong at the day cycle. In the day, you pass DK and he gives you a star for 20 coins. In the night, if you pass Bowser, he gives you a Ztar. That means, it either takes away a star (if you have any stars) or steals coins (if you have zero stars). But that's why Clockwork Castle has no Bowser Spaces and DK Spaces. You are following Bowser at night and DK in the day. That's why Clockwork Castle is similar to Castaway Bay.
1. 0:23-0:59 Good ol' censorship 2. 5400° IN SNOW WHIRLED, ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME JON?!?! 3. FINALLY!!! Fruit Talktail done right for the human players!
7:02 - 8:14 I'd just like to point out ... this is the third time this game has come up in this LP, and this is the third time Jon has not only won the game, but broke the record!
Convinced Jon is the best at Snow Whirled because he has a lot more fighting game experience and therefore really knows how to roll his inputs across the controller.
Castaway? Hey, who remembers when they had a hard time with that mini-game? it felt like a nice call back to an old Mario Party game while making a board.
CHUGGA: "You just quadrupled my record." Correction. Jon just quadrupled HIS record. That's the one he got from the last time they did this minigame. XD
