Basically a demon from planet Kinoko's molten depths.

Took me 32 turns with the lazy shell armor on bowser, forgot to equip the lazy shell weapon also forgot to equip geno's stella 023 as well lol. Beat Culex on my third try and everyone at level 30 which is the max.

His 3d form intro before the fight reminds me of Safer Sephiroth from ff7

It would be cool if Culex appeared in a Final Fantasy game, even as just a cameo in the background.

In the german version Culex ist called "Crystallux". No idea how they come with this change.

Great Video I remember fighting Culex when I first played the Original Version of Super Mario RPG he was a tough Boss I tell you that but I am looking forward to fighting him more in the Remake

Lore wise Culex should be the 2nd strongest Mario villain with only being weaker than Dimentio

Worth noting, thr mosquito genus thing is possibly a reference to Final Fantasy IV’s Golbez, who is named for a type of fly.

You forgot the most evil trick Culex 3D has: stealing Bowyer’s button locks.

His name is pronounced Kyou-Lex though NOT Cuh-Lex. That constant mispronunciation annoyed me.

It took me 50-something turns to defeat Culex because I killed him while ignoring the Crystals not knowing they'd revive him at full HP so I essentially had to fight him twice lol

Can we get Culex to appear in Smash Bros

lol fun how if you did the 100 super jump to get super suit... all that training pays off to use on him... 60 plus supers jumps can do 2,000 damage lol

I don’t know what I was expecting to be behind that door when I first saw the original game, but it wasn’t a final fantasy boss that’s for sure.

It took me about 49 turns. I was incredibly slow but the fight wasn’t that hard overall. A few close calls but nothing too scary.

If Paper Mario got back into the tone of the first 3 games, how could be a Fire Emblem reference boss work? Like isn’t from Fire Emblem (just as Culex is still technically original to SMRPG), but checks the boxes of Fire Emblem rival vibes. Saying this as Intelligent Systems is the developer of Paper Mario and Fire Emblem. Maybe it would work better if it was, say, a fusion of TTYD’s battle attack variety and Origami King battle field layout (since I do enjoy TOK battles as puzzles), it could click more with how Fire Emblem is as a blend of the Strategy and Japanese RPG.

I first tried culex 3d at lv 26 and got wrecked, then on my 2nd try at lv 30 with lazy shell peach I managed to win in 34 turns, was a very fun fight

It took me 20 turns at level 30 with work pants to all party members

Fought the 2d Culex and lost the first time, but spammed group hug, pick me ups and mario's hammer Once Culex ran out of FP the boss fight became so much easier, but i nearly died with a less than half health Mallow

Took me 33 turns with Lazy Shell Bowser and everyone level 28 except for Mario and Peach (both lv 29) Peach wasn't with the frying pan bc I didn't give much attention to treasure hunter toad

Took me 42 turns at level 22 😅
