Nintendo just revealed the Intro Cutscene for "Mario VS Donkey Kong" for the Nintendo Switch so I compared it to the original Gameboy Advance version!

I made the GBA version more watchable. I couldn't stand the flickering. Nintendo released the switch intro on their Twitter and other platforms.

Overall that is an absolutely fantastic remake of the original cutscene, the only thing I can really dock points for is Mario not rambling unintelligible gibberish. 9/10

Same, but he's not just rambling with gibberish he also actually says a few sentences. And all of it has just been replaced by "Hey, wait !" It's a shame. Also the DK jingle ends in a short higher note, which kinda breaks the menacing feel that the original had with it's long notes in my opinion.

@@MusuemBucket It was back then, when we've only seen the intro. But it turns out they replaced even more of Mario's original sentences with "Hey, wait !" or just nothing. They even removed or altered quite a lot of elements from the original cutscenes.

The Switch cutscenes look great. The only problem with those is Mario’s dialogue has been reduced. There’s no “No, you don’t!” or even a “Mama mia (angry gibberish)!”

@@ralphjeremy6590They are used, what's wrong with all of you. They are used in the trailers and in this very opening. His "heys!" are from the og game just uncompressed. The big monkey line doesn't appear in the opening in the original so it isn't here either. It's in a later cutscene.

I feel like the Switch version takes away that sense of danger that DK gave by invading the factory and how menacing it looks.

And why would you feel that way? If anything it's enhanced. Nothing is taken away in the Switch version, that sense of danger is still right there as it was in the og. Stop making stuff up.

I agree tbh. The looming shadow over the Toads and then not knowing what happened to them afterwards was very menacing. I'm glad the Switch version clarified what happened, but I did like the feeling the GBA one gave.
