The trailer doesn't do her performance justice. She was incredible. There were times in close -ups where she looked exactly like her.

It was only after I got home from the movie that I learned Marisa did all the singing. I was shocked! I just assumed they dubbed in Amy's voice. I was already impressed enough by the way she captured her mannerisms. but the voice too. wow

Such an impossible ask to bring someone so iconic into a new adaptation of capturing a huge life in a curated narrative. I hope she was able to honor Amy’s cornucopia of humanity in a manner that honored the source Artist, whilst still allowing her embodiment and performance to live as its own new delivery system. Own the interpretation as a magnifying glass of the artist, and not try to be the definition of an undefinable force.

That would not have been good casting, imo. I think Marisa did an amazing job but I think New Zealand actress Morgana O'Reillly would done an even more brilliant job.
