Alex David Technically that’s not the case, people still remember his name, he achieved immortality. Shows like these show men like Antony in a good and bad colour, it’s what makes it such a good show
JSparo me too. I loved how they showed the period where they thought they beat him permanently, he dissapears to the region where he spend 9 years with ceasar (Gaul) raise an army out of virtualy nothing and comes back and reclaim his position. And his suicide. Without any fear. The conversation with Vorenus is one of the best scenes two mens men talking about life and death.
Not the bravest or the wisest, but the most humanest. He always expressed all his emotions, which makes him to be a character who has temperature. Salute to the Mark Antony.
This beautiful tribute made me cry .. James Purefoy was brilliant and achingly beautiful in his role as Marc Antony .. he was the powerful and poignant personification of this incredible man .. one courageous and indomitable man recreating another .. Heartrending this was to watch .. James Purefoy has always been my favorite actor.. beautiful and brilliant beyond life he is ., and he will remain so ., Jen999💙
Marc Antony has been immortalized, A ideal general, a man people will follow, a broken man, i man that while describing my eyes have tears,,, you will live forever general ❤️
You know we are watching real men here , men that would kill themselves rather than lose honor to their Rome . They weren't afraid to go into battle , and they would go into it with a smile on their faces . The series Rome by HBO was well done , and the actor that played Mark Antony did a very convincing role , from old writing they say that this is how the real Mark Antony was . Forever Rome .
I like to imagine a world where Rome wasn’t shafted and ended in the second season. The further seasons of planned content and the acting prowess of not only James Purefoy (who shines in the role of Antony) but of practically every cast member means it could have been an even greater show than it was.
Rome was a great TV show, but how should it be continued after Season 2? The civil war was over, Octavian was the boss and had defeated all his opponents. The story was over, there was nothing left to tell.
@@Bilbo89 thats because Season 2 was tbe amalgamation of multiple seasons worth of story. When they heard they were getting cancelled at season 2, they stopped the other seasons they planned and added the major plot points to season 2.
@@Bilbo89 Season twos story was actually meant to go across 5 seasons, the last season was rushed due to financing which is why it seems a bit incomplete (still good but the naval battle between Antony and Octavian should’ve been shown) The writer had everything well planned out to last a lot longer, a shame rlly. They were going to try doing something with Herod and Judea which would’ve been very interesting imo.
How sad we go through all this, but also how beautiful the moments we capture. I wouldnt give up all the pain I feel to just realize one moment of true happiness.
That's a very poor ratio of pain:happiness you have there. Seems little worth especially when it only lasts a moment. Too short to even really enjoy it.
Great tribute. Unlike Jaime Lannister in GoT, we never saw a full character arc with Mark Antony. I think if there was a third season, it would have been great to see.
I'll take ROME over GOT hands down. The stupid irony is that HBO cancelled ROME because individual episodes were too expensive....and HOW much did GOT episodes cost again?
I’m always wondering why Caesar chose Octavian as his successor of legacy. That decision made Mark Antony a tragic historical figure. Caesar must see something in Octavian as just a boy.
I long imagine at the battle of Actium where Marcus Antonious and Cleopatra win against Octavian and the corrupt senate and set a new path of Roman Egyptian rule
I think they might have been prepping for that.. They had a son called Helios "The Sun"... and a daughter called Selene "The Moon" and they were going to inherit the Earth.
there goes one of the best generals rome has ever seen, defeated by little, spoiled brat because of the fact that a coquette destroy his heart and mind. shame on the house of ptolemy
Antoni gen is from Greece. Marcus himself believes he was decended from Herakles. Often overlooked that through his daughter blood some Caesars had Antoni blood.
They really took what they did with Rome and put it into GOT so much this should be considered a prequel. Yes more seasons should've been done but even as it stands I prefer this 2 season gallop compared to thrones's shitty ending
@@ottovonbismarck1352 I definitely saw it live on HBO and thought it was best part of the series. It was abbreviated but when he threw Ceaser's bloody robe to the masses they were in his hands.
I am a Canadian, Italian and I still feel that Cleopatra is the biggest problem they had. And the snakes bite isn't enough justice for bringing down one of Romes best generals .
i CAN NOT STAND SEEING THIS. i MAKE MY SELF SEE SPOTS OF IT, BUT THE LOSS, THE LOSS OF POTENCAL, THE RICHES OF PERSHIA with in his grasp. Yes, I do not get the peoples desires to morn this way, If, indeed they themselfs morn caesar`s death. I just discovered these beautiful Legionare music vidoes? and thyey are absolutely beautiful and if not if not little very sad.
@@MaryMary-lu4kf Cirian Hinds played Julius Caesar. And Lyndsey Marshal was Cleopatra in Rome. Maybe you have found their biographies already. But just in case that you didn't, here they are. All the best.
Am I alone in seeing a striking resemblance between James Purefoy and that other great Mark Antony, Marlon Brando: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tRceRJAz6_Q.html James was wonderful in this and clearly commanded the highest regard from his fellow actors in those intimate scenes, whether as a lover, warrior or morally debauched failure salvaging some honour in his closing scene.
@@brettanymichellelawson-top5197 i heard he was cremated . Archaeologists are still finding tombs of people from era of the last ptolemies . Hope she will be found eventualy :)
