Spend some quality time with me and Mark as we tell stories about our 4HIM days, the stories behind many of the hits songs he wrote, and lots of other stuff!
The group 4 Him has always been one of my favorite Christian groups. I discovered them shortly after they started. Anyway, here is my 4 Him story. The night after I lost my mother to a terminal disease in '93, I put on their CD on and played "Where there is Faith" for three hours. For context, I was still single. I was alone and in my early thirties. I needed an anchor that the song gave me. And it got me through one of the most painful moments in my life. I just know that you all have touched so many lives with your music. So, that line, "Daddy's not coming back," even though it was my Mommy, was met with "Jesus meets our needs" gave me something I needed desperately, a life line. It was also what I needed to say at that moment too. Ironically, another of the lines from that song came back to me after I had my first child. My baby boy resting on my shoulder sleeping was so intoxicating a moment that the line, "Like a child sleeping" came to me too. So, you have been with me during the bad and the good. And that is just one of your songs that has touched my life and been a part of it. God bless you and thank you so much!
I really enjoyed this Podcast with Mark. So much of what you two have shared, I can relate to in my life. I love the Christian music from the 90s, and for years now, Worship is my favorite. I still go back to the 90s Christian music of my young adult life. Keep up the great work Andy
All any of us knew is that 4Him got "divorced" and none of us got any visitation. It's nice to hear now what happened. Thank you for the music and ministry.

I concur with those sentiments from the radio guys, Andy, as I, too, had the privilege of being in Christian radio during the '90s and flag-to-flag throughout that decade 4Him was a leader in the hit-maker parade with great songs which became a big part of the sound of the decade. But yes, music rotations require variety and one artist can only have a certain number of songs in the playlist, hits or gold. And the other day on a local Christian station, WCRH the Compass, I heard a 4Him classic and I was pleased about that. 😀
I was never a Southern Gospel fan, per se, but I sure enjoyed attending a handful of the big Gaither Homecoming concerts in the '90s and yes, truly, kudos to Bill for rounding up his friends for some big bus rides to major venues around the country. And my introduction to that scene was on television in a motel in Spartanburg, South Carolina in the early part of that decade and I related immediately to what they were doing as, ironically, I was in town to pay a visit to a legendary race car shop where my father had worked in 1970 and which remained a meaningful part of his life for the role he had there. So again, wow, it was perfect timing by the Gaithers to give those artists an opportunity to minister and perform all over again on stage and still through physical product, lots of CDs and VHS tapes.
