Saw this today. I really liked it, I think it’s my favourite of the trilogy. 8/10 I’d give it.

The characters played by Quinn and Nyong'o are simply many orders more intriguing than those played by Strasinski and Blunt. I too enjoyed the edge of your seat thrills provided by seeing the first and second installments in the cinema, but I still prefer the more deftly lyrical filmmaking on display in the new movie. There is one shot that I wish I had framed as a poster in my living room - and I am certain most people will know the one I'm talking about.

Felt this addition was inconsequential...however it was tense and atmospheric and Lupita's performance was brilliant

Saw it yesterday and I have to admit this is a really good movie a must see!

Found it riveting. I do wonder how these aliens, who appear as simply monstrous beasts, have the intelligence to create intergalactic space ships and locate earth.

The cat stole the show.

It was alright, but it really needed to do something new with the idea and it didn't. It's a great concept and there's more they could explore. Not a bad film though!

Really liked the movie, but definitely agree the day one prologue in Part II does a much better job of conveying this sense of panic and horror in 10 minutes than this movie does in 90.

Even when I push the paper right up tight, a lamb bhuna would give me serious problems here.

It fell flat because they didn’t really commit to the NY invasion. They showed a glimpse of it and then took it away immediately and we never really see what we were being promised: big city mayhem

Much preferred this one to the original 2. I thought the chemistry between the two leads was much more watchable than that of Emily Blunts character and family. While it wasn’t as tense or scary as the first film, it’s the only one of the trilogy that I will look forward to re-watching

The movie is not horror. Its an A24 type acceptance of death story and a character focus not genre focus

I wasn't expecting how hard this movie hit. Grounding my expectations on the lukewarm reviews, I found myself feeling quite emotional throughout the whole movie. I never thought the previous movies were scary at all, so wasn't expecting that from this one. And yes, the silence gimmick runs dry quite quickly, so I was hoping this movie didn't focus on that - which it didn't. I suppose this series works for me depending on how interesting the main characters are, and this one delivers in spades. Full of little, touching moments, a more intimate flick I ever imagined I'd watch.

Loved it like the first n second films. The cat IS the star. Mark disappointed you didn't mention the closing music!

This is what the Cloverfield franchise SHOULD have been, instead of tacking the 'Cloverfield' name onto unrelated screenplays. 10 Cloverfield Lane was good but the link to the original film was tenuous at best. Even Matt Reeves at the time toyed with spin-offs following other characters dealing with the events of Cloverfield - in his commentary during the bridge scene he mentions another person seen filming things and suggested a whole other movie could be made following that person.

WTF was it just my cinema that fucked up the lighting? (It was an Odeon) because it was super dark for me, I thought it was one of those films doing that style now but that trailer is really bright and colourful.

Is this not just the ultimate quiet-quiet-bang movie?

Lupita Nyong'o's performance is extraordinary. Besides that, it's a perfectly serviceable film, but not really as scary as the predecessors. It's more of a character study set against the horror of the invasion, rather than a horror/sci-fi film per se. It felt slightly too long, in places but they did do a good dive into the two main characters' motivations and history. I could see the end scene coming right from the start of the film (in concept, not specifics of course). I'm not sure we _needed_ this film, but it was fine. I don't think they should do a fourth unless they have better ideas of how to make it new and interesting. Frodo the cat was very cute and a good "actor" but I can't somehow believe he would keep quiet like that when the aliens are literally inches from him at points. No hissing, spitting, arching of the back etc? Of course, that would be the end for the cat, so I can see why they didn't do that, but it did feel a bit unreal.

Saw it earlier today, I thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed it, well acted, decent effects, basic, straightforward story, everyone in the theatre stayed silent throughout, the cat was amazing, it stole the show.

Astonishing that they milked 3 movies out of the single-movie concept

For me, this film has tons of great things within it, not least Lupita Nyong'o, but it doesn't come together for me at all. I don't think it adds anything and the central theme of the film really comes down to Lupita's character's terminal illness, but for most of the film, she seems to be in perfect health. The central relationship is introduced too late for it to entirely work and the set pieces, crucially, just weren't at all scary. Not terrible, but not a patch on the previous films.

I enjoyed it. I thought Lupita's performance was brilliant, as always.

I thought it was very good but they totally don’t deliver on the premise of those aliens invading New York City. I wanted a scene where we see the aliens tear up Times Square with a million people around. Really play on the idea of the noisiest city in the world having to shut up suddenly. And instead she gets knocked out as the aliens land and wakes up a few hours later. That was so cheap! And after that really it could have been any other city.

it's more a drama than a terror movie!

I was so disappointed with this one. It did have some very good moments in it, but by the end I was bored. It felt super dumb at times too. Am hoping this is the final film in the series. No more are needed after the excellent first 2 films.

Went with the family, they loved it I was bored. SMALL SPOILERS If you have things that make a lot of noise, e.g. helicopter, why not keep doing that for a while! Keep the people safe. If there is something that's really noisy, e.g. thunderstorm, why not get to the water!!! :)

Just come back from seeing this movie. It's day one when everything kicks off. How do the humans know you can not speak as the aliens have super hearing? There is a cat in the movie that gets separated from her owner all the time, but the next scence(s) she is back with her owner. The cat never meows, like cats do all the time. The cat wears a a harness, but it's (harness) is missing on one close up shot. Emily Blunt must have been in the region on Day One, but she is not in the movie. I was bored!

Loved the first one and having rewatched it the other night its a great concept and had some great moments. Seen this yesterday and while its not a bad movie it does nothing new its just ok.

Movie was incredibly slow. Nothing happends in the movie. Happy everyone liked it.

I was quite bored with the film. I didn't care about the characters, I wasn't thrilled or scared. I felt it was a missed opportunity to do something better. I was just waiting for it to end.

!!!Spoilers!!! I enjoyed it but I would make a few big changes: No cat. - It was distracting as the cat is so unbelievably laid back. Change the setting - This is a gkobal thing. I would have set it in a different city. Paris could have been good. To see the aliens crawling over the Eiffel Tower. Suicide by piano - I would have had her be the piano pkayer and play the piano at the end to save the guy. It would have beautiful piano music o er the top as he runs to the boat. Then showing the exterior of the bar from a distance and the music suddenly stops.

Casting didn’t work for me. Very little on screen chemistry

Not as good as first but miles better than the second

*First movie was stunnin, second was pretty good, this was a hollow shadow, didnt connect with characters, it lacked the magic.* I was so excited for it, left disappointed. I hope others enjoy it more.

Only cared about the survival of Frodo the Cat

The first one was great, a few plot holes but very refreshing and i loved that it had the effect of making even the audience quiet. There wasnt even a soundtrack for most of the movie. The second one ignored that whole concept so it just wasnt as interesting. This seems along those same lines. Probably a decent watch, but doesnt fit its purpose

Just watched it. I liked it but it had no story or plot. Also how did those Aliens have the intelligence to get to Earth, they can't even see.

That "very nice dynamic" of the male character being hysterical and not knowing what's going on, and the female one being calm and in charge, is in danger of becoming just as much an offensive clichė as the reverse used to be in Hollywood.

I'll probably go see it cos the rest of the options are so mediocre

Always felt that A Quiet Place was prescient about the self-imposed censorship on social media. Most people I know won't engage in meaningful discourse that would upset people in their ideological camp. "Good vibez only" - if you say anything contrary to a prevailing dogma you are outed as a troll and risk losing friends and likes.

Not surprised a certain type of person is the lead. Does this movie explain what the aliens/monsters are? Why they’re on earth? How to stop them?

First! 🎉

Acting was good but the plot was too thin and story arc myopic considering it was teased as 'the big invasion'. It should have set itself apart from the first two movies instead of creating a poor imitation. Characters were not especially likeable - when people are saying they were rooting for the cat.. that's the reason. I was checking the running time and my watch in the middle which is never a good thing..

The fact that it’s noted as unusual that the audience went quiet during this film confirms for me that there’s no point going to the cinema.

Why is he making out a quiet place part 2 was decent, it was a repeat of the first film done badly.

Lupita Nyong’o is brilliant but the movie was such a letdown. So much potential wasted and will probably only be remembered for featuring the most unrealistic cat-behaviours ever put to screen.

So Mark, what yer saying is...its boring.

The first two are ridiculous in so many ways, I have no interest in wasting time watching this one. I feel you're becoming a Leonard Maltin/Gene Shalit type with these soft, pandering reviews.

Meh !Movie !, quite boring at times, lupita is a great actress but making Quinn a beta and the main protagonist a box ticking stoic female is a pre requisite for all post woke films these days and getting quite boring 😴😴😴😴😊
