I am now soon 43 yrs old. I found Dire Straits when I was young boy which I am glkad for and I always come back to Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits, it is timeless
I agree. The intro is beautiful and it is also in fact the main theme that Mark wrote for the movie A Shot at Glory (from 1999) It's really interesting to hear that melody played here, which means he already had the tune, or at least a part of it in -96. ❤🙏🎸 / Regards, Carin in Sweden
No guitar sounds like Knopfler's guitar. No words to describe what I feel every time I listen to his sound. He touches my heart by playing his guitar. This song is a precious piece of music, a jewel. Soft, sweet, romantic... Thanks for sharing this video :)
I do believe "his guitar is an extension of his soul" (rather than his ego) He really hit "gold" when he formed the '96ers Band to work with and back him as he launched his solo career. Fantastic musicians, every one! They all seem to be focused on "the music"! With each and every album created and performed since this beginning, each one has offered some of the most relevant and poignant lyrics, as well as the beautiful and melodious music ever! Time tested and proven...and here we are, 2020...still listening!
Idk if it's just me, but the intro gives me chills, just pure soul coming out of that guitar. That solo isn't fast, nor complex but it's simply amazing, just like Mark.
Not sure if you guys know this or not, but the intro is from the Cal soundtrack album that Mark did for the film of the same name back in the 80s. The whole album is like that. Check it out. It's beautiful.
