The best off the Best !!! mark KNOPFLER....i was there tonight.. At the introduction of S.O.S i got up and watched mark KNOPFLER 's hands for 10 minutes... Unfforgettable moments🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🤘🇵🇹
Oh they don't make em like this no more!! MK you are a legend, you & your music brings so many people closer... just like me & my dad, the person who originally said 'right, put dire strais- Sultans of swing on, and listen to the solos. ♡
His song writing has greatly changed since DireStraits days and does not involve such technical execution of musical parts. It is understandable he doesn’t connect with these songs anymore and might be out of touch to command the same technical execution prowess that he had earlier. Although as listeners, we would expect the same fluency and would ignore the fact that this is not his thing anymore. Nevertheless he is the man behind these great songs and no one can diss that. Long live Mark Knopfler.
I'd argue that "technical execution prowess" isn't really a metric to measure music by in my opinion. Music is about feeling and soul. And Mark Knopfler has always provided that, and still does! Each to their own though!
Steven crangle Totally agree that Mark’s music has always been about feeling and soul. I regard him as my greatest inspiration in music. His earlier work though had tons of emotions and feelings, were also technically brilliant with respect to musicianship and production. Take for example his picking technique which in itself is iconic. Executing the lead section of Sultans of Swing with finger picking is no easy task.
i don t agree. I saw him last year, he is at his best ever, the sound is to die for, the technique is so much more refined, i m a dire straits fan and never was as enthused with his solo stuff, but the dire straits songs of 2019 are the best for me. Telegraph road at cordoba, money at Oberhausen , man, can t get enough of that sound
But the funniest thing that no one noticed is that at 7:20 mark is basically throwing a rocket with his eyes to the bass player that played the bass line totally wrong, right into the climax of the solo. :-D You can't think that those bass lines are played on purpose. because they alter the chord progression very bad.
Comunque la regressione a livello tecnico che ha avuto è stata notevolissima rispetto ad altri chitarristi, se pensiamo che negli anni 80 90 suonava 10 minuti a velocità pazzesche e non sbagliava una nota manco a pagarlo
Sadly, this just doesn’t do justice to the majesty of the original playing. There is live variance and then there is poor replication. Reminds me of others bands that suffer this dichotomy between recording and live as they age. Some tunes are best left in the past if you can no longer play them
He pulls some jazzy phrases out here. But yep he's not playing superb, let along singing. While I still love his albums, the live shows are quite a bit under the mark.
How dare you? The Master is aging ok? If you still moaning about his playing watch his old concerts if you dislike his playing at his age! When you are almost 70 can you play fcking Through Fire and Flames i think not
@@CarefreeChels74 Exactly Mark is evolving in a different kind of singing and music. If you dislike the music just leave and don't compare Mark with the DS times because he will never achieve the DS time but he makes beautiful music in another way with the tools that he has at the moment.
Guido Duif Yeah and he’s said in multiple interviews that the reason for finishing DS was because it was becoming to big. And probably knew at some point he wasn’t going to be able to play the way he did
