Death don't have no mercy, in this land Death don't have no mercy, in this land He'll come to your house, and he won't stay long You look in the bed, and somebody will be gone Death don't have no mercy... in this land He won't give you time to get ready, in this land Won't give you time to get ready, in this land He come into your house, and he won't stay long You look in the bed, and your mother will be gone There's no time to get ready... in this land Leave you standin' and cryin', in this land Death'll leave you standin' and cryin', in this land He'll come to your house, and he won't stay long You look in the bed, and your woman will be gone Death'll leave you standin' and cryin', in this land No, Death don't have no mercy, in this land
Mark Lanegan. The voice from the darker side of the street. Great singer and a songwriter. Also a very good interpeter of songs as well. Unfortunately this Reverend Gary Davis song is all too topical for our troubled times in the spring of 2020.
I pride myself very much on my musical tastes. The wide range I listen to as well as the uncommon. I'm ashamed to say this is the first I've ever heard of Mark Lanegan. I will be saturating myself with his music from this point on.
Sounds eerily, like Nick Drake. This song in particular is a Rev. Gary Davis track but I can see how America and other bands from the 60's were heavily influenced by the song. Mark does an outstanding job and this version stays very true to the original. I highly recommend the original version. Davis plays it all solo on a 12 string and it's haunting.
Didn't know who was responsible for the original; always just assumed it was what's referenced as a "traditional" blues song. Grateful Dead used to cover it in the 60s and 70s, drawing it out into a very sparse and minimalistic jam of a dirge. Always a fan of their take, but Mark's will always be my favorite. RIP
He will come to your house, and he wont stay long,,, you look in the fridge and your beer will be gone ! No death has no mercy, in this land,,,, 😂😂😂🕇💕💕🕧
I thought the deal was Will Ferrell looks like Chad Smith drummer for the RHCP's? Anyway....This is a very good version. Check the Grateful Dead's take on their 1969 Live/Dead album as well as the Rev. Gary Davis's seminal recording.holagram99
My Ex idolized him. A week after we broke up I was invited to the VIP party front row seats and sat with this man from England, I said what do you for a living? He said, I thought you knew I'm Mark Lanagan's keyboardist. I said I need a tee shirt delivered to this address. Then I got a picture with the band at the stage the next day.
To me ..its if Kid Rock and Van Morrison had a Kid....You mix the Bluesy Voice w the rockabilly ......and add the movie with Sharron Stone Russell Crowe and Gene Hackman ...this coulda been in the soundtrack! Lol!!! :)
look, I've no problems with grammar. I was just kidding. sorry if I've hurt your feelings. Now about Gary and Mark. They're two absolutely different artists with different genre and no one from these two can or have to be just like another. Why do you even say that "he's not Gary Davis" of course he's not. what's your point? Do you expect him to be Gary Davis or what?
Great song. Still a bleak version of Tom Waits. And please (I mean no-one in particular), stop asking for tabs. The only way to learn how to play the guitar is to listen and try to figure it out on your own. Sorry, no harm meant.
