I am no McGwire fan at all but I do think baseball stars in general took too much heat for PED use due to the nature of baseball. This isn't the only sport in which steroid use is a major issue, but it's the only one that's been destroyed because of it. The NFL has never really had to face the music on this issue, and there's something fascinating about the double standard for PED users across different sports.
Two 60 HR seasons in 130 years of major league baseball. Then all of a sudden, in the midst of steroid prevalence in baseball, there was six 60+ HR seasons in a 4 season window. But according to McGuire " It just made me feel normal " - TOTAL NARCISSISTIC BS ! This " apology " made it even worse !
Gnasty G that’s not the point man. Yes he had the hand eye coordination no normal person has. But the steroids robbed the game of a beloved record and tainted the game of baseball forever. The roids easily added 20+ homeruns not to mention helped his body recover faster, an option others who didn’t take any drugs didn’t have.
Imagine if ken Griffey jr used steroids to help recovery from injuries and was never injured as much. Good lord the numbers that sweet swing would put up!!! Jr was probably the last great natural homerun hitter
@@roweshowtactical well tbf the main ped users were all snitched out, the ppl who did it during that time were pretty much all caught red handed. Griffey was never suspected, but was tested like everyone during that time frame. I guess it’s possible he’s a genius and found a way not to get caught, but I doubt that
@@sugarsingh4951 who says Griffey was never suspected? He had his best years the same years as Sosa and McGwire. His body broke down on him like steroid users bodies do. Again, you can’t say he didn’t nor can you prove he didn’t
How did Cal Ripken jr, Ozzie smith, George Brett, Ryne sandberg and Mike Schmidt etc……. Stay healthy all those 162 game seasons. I’ll tell you, because they stayed lean skinny and flexible. All those big steroid use guys from the late 80s and 90s got hurt because the got too big. Their bodies couldn’t withstand the daily beating.
Mark still can't admit he was wrong for taking it because after he says its bad but then at the same time saying I could have still hit all the home runs
John is the man thank God he got to speak out its the same in the gym when I worked out I knew nothing about all that stofe and I got desxureged because you see every body geting quik gains thinking something is rong with you
what hurts him for me is he tries to make it as PC as possible. and is in denial almost that it gave him strength… and acting like he took “low dosages” for all those years as if tolerance ain’t a thing
Lol Obviously, He has some Talent because he made the MLB, Obviously he needed some hand eye coordination to make baseball pro level...so hitting the ball is one thing. Hitting it 400-500 feet because of steroids is cheating. Glad you support cheaters, says a lot about your character 😊
The reason he took it for was for strength other wise how can he use it to heal healing goes with strength thats how you build strength its the ability to heal quickly more then an average person then builds strength quickly
I commend finally telling the truth we all knew before he did. But he still was unable to fully bear the brunt of what he actually did. We all know he couldnt have set those records with steroids because regardless of your ability his body wouldnt have allowed him a chance to once it started breaking down. The only natural way to do that and try wouldve been to semi retire get fully healthy then return like some great athlete even in that era attempted to like Griffey Jr. with some success but not like they had before. Currently we'll see if Gronkowski can do it as a TE in the NFL.
Wright? You mean right.......right? Stop commenting on stuff until you can learn to spell. You obviously don't know anything about that Era of baseball or spelling.
I know he fucked up but at around 40 minutes, talk about a smir campaign via espn. Steroids weren't considered to be this awful thing back then. Guy put a needle in his butt damn
He had to use it to perform he said that so wich means he wouldn't have hit all those home runs because he wouldn't have bin able to play baseball wich means he needed it to hit wich makes all that fake
What a freaking joke Tony Larussa! When you say it isn't right just stop there. When you say he just did it to feel stronger that is what steroids does for you which gives you the edge that someone like Roger Maris or Babe Ruth didn't have the opportunity to do.
So Jose Canseco gets shamed for telling the truth. Some of those guys owe him more than they know, and should help him out any way they can. Unbelievable to me #RestoreCanseco
The problem with Canseco was that he wasn't trying to save the sport that blackballed him. He did it to make money. Think about the players he told about who were his own teammates. They owe him nothing. It's sad too because I grew up watching Oakland.
It doesn't take strength to hit a home run. If your using strength to try to hit a home run you don't know how to bat and will probably never hit one. It doesn't matter if it goes 2 inches over the wall or 200 ft over the wall. A home run is a homerun. Swing earlier and you don't even need bat speed. Just a good fastball. Prove me wrong
Not to hit one. It's possible with solid swing a pitch's velocity redirected toward the bleachers. But to regularly hit them? You need strength. The force it takes over the course of a season I don't believe someone could without having some level of strength.
Absolutely. Not a lot of people knew McGwire better than La Russa. There is no way he could have been as clueless about what was happening in his locker rooms and clubhouses as he claims to have been.
I think that was always the answer but greedy ownership has nullified that. Look at the current divide between players and owners holding the season up. SMH
