In the 9th the referee held onto Usyk's arm twice, preventing him from capitalizing on crucial moments, Uysk had to even push him away while trying to fight Fury,, you have never seen that before. First, as Usyk was about to throw a hook (23 seconds before the end of the round), the referee pulled his left arm, forcing disengagement (check the footage). Crucially, before the ref grabbed Usyk's arm a second time, Usyk hadn't landed a damaging blow on Fury for around 5 seconds, as Fury was evading him and moving towards the corner. Fury's stumble into the corner was self-induced while trying to escape Usyk, not caused by a punch's impact. This is the first time in championship boxing that a boxer was given 20 seconds to recover by the referee after self-induced stumbling while trying to evade an opponent. I repeat, the escape then stumble into the corner was not caused by a punch's impact, yet the referee led Fury by the arm to his own corner at the end of the round - an unprecedented move in boxing. The 40-pound weight difference (262 lbs and 222 lbs) as a ratio is approximately 1.18 making it akin to welterweight Floyd Mayweather (147 lbs) battering light heavyweight Artur Beterbiev pillar to post. Additionally, besides the massive weight, height, and reach disadvantage, the referee obstructed Usyk's movement and path at critical moments by holding his arm twice, robbing him of a KO win.

Honestly just looked like he stepped in the moment they separated form the clinch. Looked like his intention was to separate them but they ended up doing it themselves.

@@MilkANDMagic review it carefully.. Also, before the start of the 12th round, the referee goes to Fury's corner and says, "Last round, awesome job." The referee definitely should not be saying that, especially after he saved Fury from a KO and gave him a long count. Thoughts?

@@Jon-Callahan Its the timekeeper that was counting though. You can even hear the timekeeper on the mic counting until 8 and its always protocol for ref to check on the boxer before letting them continue. They dont just do the count and let them jump back in immediately. The 10 count has never actually been 10 seconds since the beginning of modern boxing rules. The ref always needs to check on the boxer after the 10 count. Im actually an usyk fan and glad he won but i feel like people microanalzying this too much. I would argue abut the ref not warning low blows and rabid punches but not this knockdown

@@Jon-Callahan I just rewatched it, ref jumped in the moment fury commited to a clinch however the moment he jumped in they were already separating from each other. I wouldnt say he intentionally dragged usyks arm off

I could clearly see Usyk's belly button and I heard Mark Nelson say "Punches here are ok" pointing to the belt of the trunks (Not the belt line which is the very top of the belt). He then said the same for Fury even though Fury's trunks were well above the belly button. This essentially gave Fury the go ahead to low blow Usyk. Also I know you understand the distinction between belt line and belt but I thought I would make it clear for the dummies who get their boxing knowledge from Andre Ward or Tim Bradley on commentary.

Fury's shorts were literally like an inch from touching his nipples at the start of the fight. And they say USYK is weak to the body...

The Dazn coverage never showed any indication of what was deemed low….sure we heard audio, but no actual visual indication from the ref….that was not good given the pre fight talk around bodyshots

What, you think that is a surprise?….it has been known it was going to happen for months….or do you think a mandatory should wait more then two years to get his shot at a title?

It's strange because Floyd was allowed to hold belts in two divisions at the same time and never had to defend the one he got from Canelo.

Makes you question what’s worse, a guy like Mark Nelson, who is basically passive and is too slow to act, someone like Laurence Cole and Tony Weeks who let the A-side foul their opponents to death, or someone like Harvey Dock/Joe Cortez/Kenny Bayless who blatantly do everything to help the A-side and set up their opponents for dangerous sucker punches and stifle the action when their guy is getting whooped.

That Mark Nelson is a crooked bum!!!! Should be ashamed of the obvious disrespect for WBC rules and never again be allowed to be in a fight!!! Just check WBC rules, no 8 count standing and if the ropes is prevent the Boxer from going down it’s a Knockdown…

Mark Nelson wasn’t as bad as usual only because of Usyks ability to control the room 🥊

The standing 8 count isn't mandatory anymore but I think the ref can invoke it.
@JackPlatt
@JackPlatt 4 месяца назад
There is no standing 8 count. Only the mandatory 8 count required for all knockdowns in the modern era. If the ref determines that the ropes are the only thing keeping a fighter up from a legal punch, he can rule a knockdown, and can administer a mandatory 8-count just as if the boxer had fallen to the canvas from a legal punch.

So glad usyk was on the ref The narrative of criticising him for complaining to the ref was dumb, it was very smart After all the talk of usyk not being able to take it to the body. It was fury who had trunks fitted to avoid body shots and usyk still got him and tired him out 😂

The problem is that the rules don't change based on the magnitude of the fight. But we have seen time and time again referees using wiggle room on the rules to protect the A-side fighter. I somewhat disagree that the magnitude of the fight is meaningless. A four round pro debut for some kid, I could understand a higher level of protection if he is in trouble because of his lack of experience. You might stop a fight faster. For the Undisputed Heavyweight Championship of the World, given the stakes of the fight, the experience of the fighters, the economics involved, many refs will be slower to stop those fights if that match is significantly important. Your not dealing with pro-debut Olympians here, you are dealing with World Champions, and that level of experience should be taken into some account considering a fighter's ability to recover. These are important factors. For example, a slow starter like Mike Weaver who got in trouble early against Michael Dokes in their first fight, and was stopped in about 60 seconds after the first round after one knockdown and a flurry of mostly blocked punches was terrible. The Mancini-Kim tragedy happened weeks before so everyone involved was on a quick stoppage alert, Compare that to their second fight which ended in a majority draw. Or compare that to Arturo Gatti who has come back from the dead to KO fighters. Or slow starters like Joe Louis, Joe Frazier, Rocky Marciano. Boxers who were slow starters and could be dropped, yet able to come back to win. The experience of the fighter, how well he stands up to punishment, are all very important variables that must be analyzed by the referee. My only problem with Mark Nelson is the fact that he gave Fury at least 16 seconds of recovery time from the time of his knockdown 8-count to allowing Fury to continue. Still contend that whether or not he should have stopped the fight in the 9th round was a judgment call. I don't really see corruption in this fight on Nelson. There was plenty of corruption that Nelson showed allowing Jeff Horn to use his head as a battering ram against Manny Pacquiao. I am seeing more of a debatable call on the 9th round knockdown vs. TKO. There was overt favoritism to the point of corruption by judge Craig Metcaff who somehow gave rounds 2 and 11 to Fury and had Fury winning 114-113 Mike Fitzgerald had it too close for Usyk at 114-113. Had that ninth round knockdown not have occurred, and Fury had somehow won one more round, my original controversial draw, or even a split decision for Fury would have occurred, and that would have been criminal. I have a bigger problem with those two 114-113 Fury and 114-113 Usyk cards than I do with Mark Nelson for this particular fight.

where in the rules of referring fights does it say anyone gets special treatment? this would be admitting boxing is unfair. it's up to the corner to protect their fighter.
@JackPlatt
@JackPlatt 4 месяца назад
@@FightFilms The rules will never say boxing is unfair. The unfair part is the refs manipulating the rules to favor the A-side fighter. (Longer counts and breaks for A side fighter on knockdowns and checking fighter's condition)( Warnings instead of point deductions for low blows, A-side allowed to clinch, rabbit punch with only a warning. )It's like now in boxing, A-side has to bite the B-side to lose a point! Corners today with inexperienced trainers who don't know how to protect a fighter. Promoter's having too much power in selecting officials, particularly in the USA/UK jurisdictions. The rules for what boxing consists of (three minute rounds, 12 round championship distance, 4 ring ropes, 10-point must scoring systems. Those are sreaight forward. The other part of rules concerning what a ref's or judges responsibility will be look like they are set in stone because they are written withon the same set of rules. The problem is that ref and judges are not systematically enforcing the rules of boxing when cash-cows are involved, concerning point deductions for low blows, head-butts, rehydration clauses. Rules are regularly manipulated and even broken to protect promoter's money makers. What refs should do are called and listed as rules, but for things like low-blows, rabbit punches, holding, warnings, A-sides are a;allowed to break the rules. It's almost like B-sides are given rules, but for A-sides, they are more "guidelines." That's the unfair part. The only time you have rules generally followed concerning actions in the ring, is if you have two fighters whom the promoter or establishment doesn't really care about. If there is money to be made, the establishments treats the rules as "Guidlines" instead of rules. Because the powers that be know they will anger the promoter and get less assignments if they don't cater to his cash cow.

I have to re-watching it again and again I give it 9/3 for Usyk I noticed that whether the referee got pressured or not I’m not saying🎉 fury wouldn’t have gotten up I know I mentioned it but going down and an extra hard for the fury . Ref i’m glad he didn’t wave it off because I don’t like those so stop the fight but count and an extra punch would’ve landed after ref was in the way extra punch ,also he would’ve had to pick himself up weight will never ever now could’ve been a 10 count could’ve been Ko when we and I don’t want going down should’ve happened . I will never know as I said before I’ll never know!

Defenitely could have easily stopped that fight with usyk in the 9th coz that was dangerous fury could barley lift his hands anymore but on the other hand im kinda a sadistic fan and like to see fighters fight to the end until someone is sleeping😊my only problem is if you let fighters get away with excessive illegal blows.im kinda in the fence too coz i also dont like refs like bayless for example who seems to me is bias and only let the fighters that he probably like fight thr fighs and he end fights early i dont know.but one thing for sure all this refs in this fight of magnitude one way or another r corrupt or atleast have special instructions from who ever is organizing that event and the ppl that hires them.

yes, but watching it again, I realized Usyk nullified him inside. Fury always relied on brute strength, not technique, so it was easier to control him. Also, the ref did warn Fury a few times.
