Hi Danielius thank you for checking the film out.We bought are tackle in fishing shops in the north east of england (north east tackle and bagnalls and kirkwood) i also bought some in New Zealand and Australia .I spent the whole time using the herring cut bait though. That is the name of the brand....dynamite lure that one, looks like a real fish.Cheers, Mark

Hi Craftsmank, I have just read the Hans Hass wiki on your recommendation ,he sounds an interesting man with a life dedicated to the sea.I will try and catch some of his footage. We returned most of our fish barring a few that were for the pot, its a shame the North Sea was not looked after as well as your fair land! Thanks for checking the film out!

Hi Jay The really big ones are in Finnmark where the Herring feed them up. I have only fished as low as Tromso. I think if you are going from the shore look for working harbours and try and get Bluey or Saury as bait. Otherwise casting a few Hokki's on a weight about might work. Find the local fishing shop in Bergen and email them. Get the planning sorted in advance and you will do well.

Hi Strata I think you can get away with pike style spinning tackle or any spinning rod that is medium flex. You should take lures that are less likely to catch the sea bed or kelp so using just a weight then lures above is good.Even feathers would work. Take a few ledger rigs as well in case you can get squid /bluey etc. Plenty of codling will come that way and maybe a little bigger. Tight lines! Mark

well now heres a throught - youre catching the bigger fish - they only eat the smaller fish and crabs - by removing them from the food chain youre actually allowing many smaller fish the chance to grow bigger. By the way, have you ever read hans hass - your loving the fish - he has some quite interesting view points on that. Cheers from Mid norway.

Great video that, I have watched it quite a few times now, gets better each time. We are off to Norway again in June, to Furoy fishing camp, where I caught the cod in the photo. (see Scotsman catches big Norway cod, RU-vid) The fishing there was good but not as good as your camp site it would seem, where exactly is that location.

hans and lotte hass were pioneers with scubadiving. The most interesting is the books they wrote - most titles should be available very cheaply - amazon etc. Norway is in fact very bad at looking after its nature - check out this video " ban seaweed harvesting "- on you tube

Is there any point throwing them back? At depths of around 100 meters surely the gallbladder has burst from the rapid change in pressure...

Hi Blob, in the Summer most of the fish are at the top or close. Not had a gall bladder incident.

IF you bring fish from depth that you wish to put back healthy, as with humans you have to acclimate them to varying depths. We stop the fish at approx 50 metres for a 30 sec break, then at 20 metres for a longer break and then at 10 metres try and hold them for 60 secs with no depth changes or VERY slowly raise the fish for whole of last 25metres and you will have healthy fish to return. Try it next time fishing and you with practise will see they can be returned. Hope this helps.

21:39, Yes that is Samiska (Sapmi's in english.) "kåtor" (swedish word for that sort of tipi-like building that the Sapmi-people use and build.), but what is a "laplander"??? :D hahah sounds really funny for me, i am a Same, a Sapmi in english, so i should know all about this, there is no such thing as a "laplander" haha! Lappland is a "county" in sweden, which is where the Sapmi people mostly lives and exists, you cant be a "laplander"! Or maybe you're a "manchestererian, and not english??:p
