This was written by Tuomas and Marko for the Finnish film "The Matriarch". Troy's stunning EBow work on the guitar replaces the original violins. I also recommend "High Hopes" from the End of an Era video.
The movie is called Lieksa in Suomi (Finnish language) and is kinda comedy drama. Worths watching imo. One of my favorite songs with a great message. Cheers and kiss while your lips are still red!
To put Marko's opening remarks in context, this show was not long after the Paris nightclub bombings. The backing vocal and Troy's guitar with EBOW are additions from the studio version. More Marko on lead vocals: The Islander (Tampere) , Master Passion Greed( studio only), and their cover/tribute of Pink Floyd's High Hopes (End of an Era)
For you ! , i don't miss Marko. With his sudden Left. He almost destroy Nightwish. Tuomas tought, over and out. Without Emppu, Nightwish would over. And then Hellfest 2022, with the amazing Jukka Koskinen. THAT is Nightwish.
@@ralfmeyer9086 Each has their own opinion. Marko was a part of Nightwish for many years. The way he and Floor sounded was amazing. The combination of her voice with his growly vocals just worked well together. I'm so used to hearing him that it simply isn't the same without him. I realize there are fans upset with his leaving, but he did so for his own health reasons.
@@paulajones1177 I like Jukka Koskinen. Don't know, he becomes a permanent Member. But, Floor can do it alone. Tuomas, Emppu and Floor are Nightwish..My opion greetings from nothern Germany 🤘
So much love and respect in this family of musicians, that Floor sits on the drum stage to allow the visual focus to be on Marko. They really are the best matched six musicians in the entire world, coupled with, in my opinion, the greatest composer of my lifetime.
Troy's e-bow guitar work was the third voice in this song. You can hear Floor in similar mood with Sleeping Sun. Live, of course. Always live with Nightwish.
For Marko's singing, three more songs I'd recommend are: 1. The Islander live at Tampere (preferably with his intro, though if you need to stick to the Nightwish channel version I understand): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Zo8ncK_5kzc.html 2. High Hopes live End of An Era: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4oEDnVeYYyM.html 3. Phantom of the Opera official live: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tL25rbnvM4o.html
Great stuff again (reaction & song). Marco will be best in: High Hopes (a tribute to Pink Floyd), The Islander (Tampere, Floor as background singer!), Wish I had an Angel (Wacken 2013)
...if you like Marko's singing, you should also check out his old band Tarot songs like "Tides" and especially their 'Heavy Metal consert on ice' recordings "Guardian Angel" and "Things that crawl at night" - for starters 🙂
I really appreciate the different genres you cover and your reactions are so genuine. You show it’s possible to like a wide range of music. I do love Nightwish and stumbled on this amazing song that Floor did with Ayreon. It’s so beautiful and I know you would appreciate it. Valley of the Queens. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TbebO5BZi-I.html Another awesome artist is Brandi Carlile, a totally different genre. She is country/Americana (I see a good amount of country on your channel). Check her out if you haven’t heard of her. Great musician and voice. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EjlLQSsWVv4.html She did a cover of Johnny Cash’s song Folsom Prison Blues which is excellent (maybe check his first if you haven’t heard it). ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jbND6ENAbVE.html
When you think about how beautiful or powerful music Tuomas can write - for movies. Like this song. It would be great to hear Tuomas' composition behind a Hollywood production someday. Think of that feeling when you sit in a big movie theater and hear the emotional music made by Tuomas in the background of the movie.
In this sane genre you should check out Skilet(they range from Symphonic Metal to traditional heavy metal). Start with this... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Zjnet4-lMi0.html
I am totally confused. You have gone to all the trouble to create separate genre's , and then we get these last two artists. I think you need to create a new listing for this type. Creedence Clearwater was an exception because it was country-esk, but this ??????? Not Country,....can't give it a thumbs up.
personally I find your comment confusing as in his playlist of country this song isn't there and it says there are 251 songs. It is in a separate Nightwish list of only 11 songs. And obviously you have no appreciation of genuine talent regardless of genre
@@clivematthews5296 Thanks, I am a new viewer,.... still trying to get my bearings on this site. That helps. I saw about 26 consecutive Country artists in a row, and thought that this WAS the country listing. When I went back a little further, I saw the other genres, and then I found the complete separate listings. My bad.
@@bgallagher8129 no sweat. If he only listened to country you wouldn't find me here. Sorry that you can't appreciate such an amazing band especially when Floor Jansen is singing and not just backing Marko. Their musicality is amazing.
