The fact that he acknowledged that a lot of these people have been led to believe this, and that un-learning it is a process that needs to be respected, makes him one of the GOATs
When I was younger attending a school for young people trying to get their life back on track I came across a tall (6’7”) black 17 year old kid playing basketball. We worked out playing ball for around a month Or more but outside the court he was sketchy about being around me. Eventually I questioned him about that. His response literally shocked me. He was taught from a child that White people only friend black people if they can use them for something. In his mind there was always a shady motive awaiting discovery behind a kind smile from a white person. One of the last conversations we had before he left the school was him telling me I gave him some hope. He experienced something he was told wouldn’t be possible. Sports & music truly are bridges we should never take for granted.
We can all surprise each other if given the chance. I don't fault your friend, his family, or anyone else for having suspicions and views like that. Unfortunately, it is what it is and no doubt those views were based on personal and cultural experiences. I'd never seek to ignore or invalidate that. I also hope that people can discover how similar, different, and truly awesome we can be if we can get along and learn from each other. History and circumstance has brought us to this point. We can make change. If not in the minds of everyone than in the minds of many who are curious, open, and brave. The fear and misunderstanding is symptomatic of what has been and continues to go on. I hope for peace, love, and justice.
That's awesome wish there were more people who could show that color means nothing just like the way someone looks it's not smart people like that are narrow minded just crazy that people are bullied even @ a supposed adult level. I'm a white guy that lived in a crappie place poverty wise ect and I've been treated the same as friends of other races by authorities and I see craziness a lot we as people need to band together and like @Stevie said do the right thing wrong is wrong.
Just goes to show that even though we may not agree with what others think or there point of views, we should always remember that those point of views were taught and they came from somewhere. Eveyone has a chance to change.
Literally should be seen as a part 2 of Joyner Lucas' "I'm not a racist" You can tell the video hit different in your demeanor. Just a different kind of song. True art.
"I'm not racist" hits the good and bad of both sides. Gang shit is very biased on one side. He makes a good connection with perceiving all groups as gangs but I'm not sure this helps with race relations in any way like what Joyner Lucas was able to do.
I can feel the disturbance in your Aura. To not even feel comfortable to do an intro. I hope you can sleep well at night. I thank you for still bringing attention to the matter. And entertainment to ease the tension. Love you Stevie .
@@stevie.knight As a White man ; not a Chicken with a sword, id like to say I appreciate and share the same mindset. Perspective, Not many of us have the power of empathy, unless you have near perfect family guidance and willingness to become inspired by the growth of being a better man.. To be something you can be proud of when you just get up and die outta nowhere. Just about every superhero of mine is a black King or a Queen and if i was a chicken with a sword... at least i could be proud of the way my ancestors have treated yours. ( btw a fucking bar tho... hol up, Em.. i need studio time) I hope you enjoy that lil joke of mine, because I haven't had things to joke about for a long time. (wait i'm not actually trying to rhyme this shit. wtf is happening to me? LMFAO I Just went back to read this shit to make sure I wasn't looking stupid and I realized that yes, i'm stupid, but also sick with the rhyme shit.. so Thanks Stevie!! #CriticalThinkingCanBeACurse But hey! i'd love for you to give Lupe Fiasco's DROGAS WAVE album a listen man, or honestly his whole fucking discography tbh.. #top2favoriterapperdon't@ but nah, He got a song on there WAV. Files or Manilla thats really just layered with so much history and content! Dissect worthy for sure. #EveryLupeSong (never wrote a fucking hashtag in my life btw.. i got too many muthafuckas in here don't I? Shit I mean this msg is already long as shit why not write every fucking thang) HA Love!!!
@@iaminsideyourhome69 I know im just a troll... but one could take that as him saying the black guy is just being himself on some racist shit.. im white btw
@@iaminsideyourhome69 so I would delete this comment because I don't think you explained it right or maybe u did. The black actor is not in jail for 10 years so he....
@@cesheph yea it totally sounds like he was saying well the black guy is just being a black guy drug dealer in jail being himself.. I doubt he meant it that way, very poorly worded.
Stevie Knight, your channel keeps getting better! Thank you once again highlighting Marlon Craft. This is true art, he is a hip hop warrior! In this song his aim is so narrow, yet he hits all the targets he set out to. Damn after the video.... thank you for just taking a moment to speak
Love you man. I watch many different reaction channels, but you have become my favorite. You keep everything real and I truly appreciate that about you. Thank you.
So excited to see you doing this one. But that D O A song with Joyner and I prevail is the video of the year. Makes me so mad it hasn't hit a millon... only a few big reactors have done it.. talk about what's going on right now. I think it deserves a Grammy . Really hope you react to it...
Truck driver here, I listen to ur stuff when out here doing my thang... I enjoy ur view on not only ur reactions but towards reality. Wish more of us was open like u. Continue success my brother!
Love the transition of your emotional connection from what you believe and know throughout this video... you started off defensive and you kept listening ... then bam... perspective hits... you're still you, of course, but perspectives made you think... love that... you're correct; hip hop speaks.. first time I heard this video, just a few days ago, gave me chills.... I seen those chills in you too... Marlon has seen it and feels it... all perspectives....this is my perspective ... thank you for sharing yours as well..
Mr. Knight, thank you for using your platform to push awareness. Great timing on the release of this content. Growing up in San Diego and now living in Denver the diversity of culture I experienced as a child influenced me and molded me into the man I am today. I wish others had that. Peace. Love and the Courage to continue to try and make a change. Maybe one day the world will be a Better Place.
I’ve watched your reaction to this a dozen times. This is one of my favorite times and it’s clear how it affected you and hopefully many others. You know your stuff, in hip hop and life.
Insane that I requested this on your "Untouchable" video, and the next reaction you do is "Gang Shit". Hell Yea! Marlon is crazy with the bars and the message ..
Loved watching you vibe to this beat brother. Much love from Aus. Sad to see what's going on. I hope we can learn and make Australia better for the struggles going on over there.
Music is current history being written without filters. How much you can communicate with so few words is the art. Love the on point empathetic breakdowns 🤘
I appreciate you talking at 7:08 or so about how tough it probably was for the actor having to do this shit. Marlon talked a little about it in an interview where he said they pulled up and had the Klan robes for the second scene and he and the dude looked at each other like, "Is this right? Is this a good idea?" Reminds me of Joyner Lucas - I'm Not Racist. I hope that heavy white dude didn't catch any flack on the streets.
Great review man. I love how after the first 30 seconds of the song you explain a perspective on the struggles to move from religion/being born into whatever circumstances and seeing things differently, which is what this song ends up speaking on. Pretty much predicted the message of the song. I just hope that one day everyone will see eye to eye and move forward together, now is the time to teach each other and our children a better, more equal future for everyone. Much love from Australia man keep em coming
Hey stevie man love your vids man always keeping it real. I just wonder did you ever watch 2pacs interviews or speeches? Would be interesting to see you react to that especially in this time.. Keep it up man
So hyped you finally did this especially now.. but a track I think you’d appreciate is that new Lil Wayne ft Benny & Conway.. or that new Conway track “front lines”
I came here after hearing his State of the Union on MSNBC. I feel that this song is a reflection of what occurs in a lot of white homes and heads, unfortunately. I hope these lyrics reach the hardened hearts to the truth of racism and its propagation.
What a song, mad respect for Marlon craft, alot was said with truth in every line. On a side note, steve you drop some deep lines, "racism is like a religion, its the belief", shit hit me hard bro
The actor who plays the cop is legendary actor Vincent D'onofrio, he was in Full Metal Jacket, The Cell, and he played Kingpin in Netflix's Daredevil, and he's been in a whole bunch of other stuff too, absolutely brilliant actor!!!
I grew up in Flint, Mi born an raised. Grew up with a single mother. My mother always taught me you dont see color you see people how they are and you dont treat them any different
A huge point in that message by the imaging of showing the family’s. Was to illustrate the differences of each family. And how the institutions have created a high incarceration rate for black men. Creating the absence of the father in many black families compared to the other two characters (the cop&the kkk guy) that shows them going home and eating with their families at the end of the day . That was very powerful messaging to have been added to the song with visuals in addition to the words in which those things go hand and hand.
I studied drama in college and in one production was cast in the roll of an alcoholic racist.. even at one point in the production had to use the N-word in reference to and while looking directly in the eyes of a very good friend of mine who is a black man. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done but be sure that he and I sat down and had a real conversation before ever stepping on that stage.
Man... Seeing my man Stevie almost speechless... Dude... Bruh, all my love, I'm with you... A simple Caucasian male from some country in Europe... Sh*t, don't matter which one... I'm with you... Blessings
Marlon knows what's up. And he is really good at getting his message across. The kind where even if you disagree, you can atleast understand where the person is coming from. But we all turned politics into a sport. So we feel the need to defend our home team no matter what.
