Good interview. I remember him being a fixture here in the San Gabriel Valley party scene. He was such a young badass & ahead of everyone else musically as a teen. Seen him tear it up at the Starwood as a 3 piece, Marq as vocalist & guitarist, all eyes on him. Then to see him in Ratt & just move on & then to be in Tower Records shopping & see Marq on the back of a King Kobra live album, unreal. Then the BulletBoys on TV. Good Times
When I'm king of the world it will be a criminal offense to not include Freakshow in any top 20 greatest rock albums list. I've got it at about 12 or 13 myself. I fuckin love it
Super happy that you managed to get an interview with Marq - your interviews are without a doubt the best, they have the best formats, you’re a great speaker too and very respectful. Huge respect to Marq, I love the Bulletboys, I love RATT, so for me this interview is absolute magic. I watched it with a smile on my face, and love hearing Marq speak and share his life experiences. I saw Marq live about 5 years ago, and I wished I had approached him for an autograph. He is a super singer, and entertainer. It’s unreal how entertaining Marq is. Great that he is able to still bring the complete package to his live shows. Amazing, super, excellent - love Bulletboys and RATT 👌🏼👍🏼
Fantastic interview Jason! I've been a fan of the band since the first album. Marq has always been a class act, and seems like a truly genuine person. I was really bummed out when the original band reunion didn't happen... although I did watch the live online show that they did, and thoroughly enjoyed it! The current lineup is definitely a solid band. I hope to be able to see them in the future, and always looking forward to new music!
Another awesome video Jason. Cool photo with the band! I'd say that was 1991 also since that's how they looked during the Freakshow era. People can say what they want about Marq, but everything I've seen about him has shown that he is one of the hardest working people in this business and extremely loyal to the BulletBoys brand. He's got a storied past which makes him an important part of the Los Angeles rock scene of the last four decades.
Great interview again Jason, Marq has an interesting musical history before the Bulletboys. Absolutely killer debut they dropped and I had the pleasure of meeting them in 1989 on their debut UK tour in Nottingham and Manchester. We walked around Nottingham a little bit with them, totally in awe at their humble/down to earth attitude. Great gigs, and what a frontman, which is hard to believe he kind of reluctantly fell into dropping the guitar.
I have met Marq three times, twice in Memphis, and he has Always been kind, down to earth, and carries on great conversation. The dude has never lost any of his voice. He was great to hang out with.
Marq Torien's singing on the studio track of "Smooth Up In Ya" is one of the best singing I've ever heard. It's comparable to any legendary famous singer, male or female.
Hey hello I'm Baltimore too, and guess what, when I first came to live in California Lonnie the bass player in the BulletBoys..I became friends with his sisters and Lonnie was about 15 and in a band called Hightimes
You hear the band stories about marq as someone who is maybe arrogant and maybe not the easiest to work with.. Though Every time he does an interview he's very genuine... Never says anything bad about anybody... Always respectful and always seems appreciative... When you see this, it's hard not to like him. Great interview Jason!
Sometimes talented, skilled and good people intimidate others. Sometimes people talk sh about very good people because they are threatened. Just a thought.
I got The Bullet Boys 1st album when it came out , I actually lent it out to my friend, I never got it BACK! 🤣😅 He later went on to play Bass Guitar in the band "Fight " No worries I got the Cd! Great Interview!
Waay back in the day, between Dave and Sammy, I actually wrote a letter to Warner Brothers Records, telling them that Marq should be the new Van Halen lead singer. When I saw Bullet Boys the first time, and all the kicks and theatrics Marq did, I was convinced he could fit the bill. I still wonder........
@@WasteSomeTimewithJasonGreen they were just in St. Charles, Illinois at the Arcada.. If I would've seen this interview before the show I would've went. I'm so pissed I missed it now....i won't again.
One of my Fav bands from the 80"s and early 90's . Caught them once at the Channel Club in Boston ( still have the shirt) and twice with Cinderella and Winger.. Original line up just was so killer. looking forward to this .
Hey Jason. Love The Bullet Boys. Saw them in 2016 in Dayton. It wasn't the original band. Wish that it was. But was still a great show. Marq and the band were phenomenal.
@wastesometimewithjasongreen #marqtorian thanks for interviewing Marq. I met him n the Bullet Boys in January. Long story short I got to meet Marq and he was so kind and humble. This interview really inspires me to pick up the Guitar again n really get back to my skill. Side note. I never knew Marq played guitar until I researched the 22’ tour… anyway I really enjoyed the show in Tampa this year. I hope they come back.
Great interview Jay, Marq seems very cool but I've heard a few things one of them from Phil Varone ....lol. Earl BB was some incredible hard Rock music and though bald as a babie's arse I still enjoy some of their tunes at my rip old age lol!
Awesome interview really like Marq I met him and Lonnie and Jimmy back in 2000 in Columbus Ohio at the alrosavilla seen bullet Boys two Times once with original three members than the next couple years on a side stage at a poison summer tour with marq and a new line up of the bullet boys .can't wait to hear the new album. That's a great story of him he has been through alot I was watching the home video of Bullet Boys pigs on Mudd vhs 📼 tape and I remember on the video tape of Lonnie saying Marq was his best friend and they showed him in that video playing guitar and singing that's for interviewing him now you have to interview Jimmy and Lonnie lol 😆
Ive know Lonnie since we played in garage bands in the south bay. He has certain issues to this day. He has been a friend for so many years. I wish them all the best.
I have no idea where I got the impression that Marq was an a-hole, but boy was I wrong. Seems like a great guy and such a talent. Thanks for this interview Jason.
Wow I'm a tad tripped up on your comment on Marc's being a Mexican liking punk back in the 70s (my cousin went to highschool with him). People are naive about these already integrated or blended families the "other valley" had. So happy for Marc. MON
I really like the vocals he did on the Love/Hate Living off Layla album. Kind of a strange situation to do half of the record, but there’s some pretty cool, not so typical tunes on it. Hard to find.
@@robintaylor485 According to my old teachers, parents, siblings and even some friends _all_ I do is waste time... But Jason Green is ace and his show rocks! Now I'm off to play video games, eat junk food and go punchin' da Munchkin.
TY for the interview! I've always wanted to know if he went to college and his name. Disappointed he didn't say his birth last name. Saw him in SWFL 2023 and wanted to meet him but it wasn't in the stars so this is a good substitute
He kept saying how much younger he was back then, compared to the people he looked up to/wanted to play with. He's literally in the same age group at 61.
Great interview, incredible singer guitar player, and writing spectacular song's. "Symphony'👥 wrote from life's experience proves his musicianship is from the heart and the real deal.✊🎤🎸🎶🏁
Ok Dave thanks for the clarification on leagues, What letter of this classification do you place in ? Just curious, being a professional on musical league judging and all you must be with Lynch in the A category👍
future interview with : vanderberg, danny tyketto, don dokken, mick brown macalpine, , blotzer, croucier ratt, randy piper ex wasp, ,michael schenker, armored saint , lizzy borden, vixen, bob daisley,kk downing, , tom keiffer, jimmy crespo, a ted poley. jhon 5, jack russell,i ,keel, graham bonnet, etc ?
Sharon told him"you are too similar to Randy and we are trying to get over Randy" Are you f kidding? I never heard and got all magazines from that 1980s decade. And that guy name never popped up once?!
Bro no names ever popped up til George Lynch started mentioning he was a front runner. Did anyone mention it back in the day? No. It was like all the guitarists in L.A. n San Diego that tried out had to sign an NDA of something. Some document to keep their mouth shut for 40 years lol…weird I think.
@@greggheslin2724 Yes I do agree with you; man. But not that many read guitar magazines back then as the lack of pictures and music info. Lynch was mentioned often regarding the Ozzy thing. It seem that nowadays they all can lie as they don't care. Ozzy clan will not make a statement about the Bullet Boy guy claiming being in the Ozzy history. For me Bullet Boys came out we thought ooookay that guy knows who David Roth is,lol
@@stevedamien638 lol I’ve already wasted to much of my time talking bout the Bullet Boys lol… I just really enjoyed seeing the new line up and was glad Marq is still doing it. My bands were Skid Row n Lynch Mob of that era.
I am just seeing this interview.I had the pleasure of seeing Ratt open for Motley Crue that had just got signed by Elektra records at the Reseda Country Club invited by Brian Slagel. Marg was a awesome guitar player at the time very influenced by Eddie Van Halen. It was right after the Ozzy audition. Marq’s touch on the fingerboard influenced me quite a bit. I met him at another Ratt show at the Troubadour and he was very nice. I followed his career so I am confused with the time line because his Motown era was after? If anyone else can clarify that with me I would appreciate it.
The first 3 and a little partial to freakshow and ZaZa ,seen the 93 tour in Hky NC and Marq and the guys were great Mick had just departed the band but hopefully we get all the 4 originals soon and best wishes to all horns 👆
I love listening to members of those 80s glam metal bands interviewed. Reminds me of time when there was more attitude, sleaze and danger in music. Today it's just lame pop and rap bands
