Just thought this might be interesting to you, especially the part about "Vacation" (from Wikipedia) ... "The opening footage comprises views of Chicago, opening with a shot of Buckingham Fountain in Grant Park. The aerial downtown shot was taken from the Lake Shore Drive section north of the Loop. The expressway entrance shot was taken from the 1983 movie National Lampoon's Vacation featuring the Griswolds' green family truckster with a northeastward view of the Dan Ryan/Stevenson junction southwest of the Loop. The exterior shot used for the Bundys' house was taken in a subdivision in Deerfield, Illinois. Non-English versions might differ, e.g. the dubbed German version always includes the expressway shot." I just noticed this as I was watching the opening credits to the 1st episode (after downloading the series). I don't know if you have seen Vacation but, it just jumped out at me, and I had to look it up.
Al was “savage AF” & every blue collar worker’s idol back in the 90’s. This show is a CLASSIC & one that I always looked forward to watching 🤣🤣🤣. I am always happy to binge-watch this series on DVD anytime I need a pick me up & a good laugh. Al was a savage, but good lord almighty, Peg & the kids were just as savage & hysterical 😂😂😂. Peace & best wishes to you both from 🇦🇺Australia🇦🇺 ✌️😎✌️
I was in college when this show came out and people did try to have the show cancelled by writing angry letters. Thank God that shows like this and movies like Blazing Saddles are out already and can be watched and enjoyed.
Anybody that gets offended by this need to be CANCELLED-immediately; shortly after, they need to get over themselves. Life is too short to live life being offended so easily.
No one is offended except the snowflakes who think everything is fucking canceled! This show is running in 170 countries on TV 24/7! Jesus Fucking Christ we have cartoons that are edgier than this! Fucking Family Guy are literally fucking children!
You can't cancel Ed or his amazing portrayal of Al just like you can't touch Carlin, Pryor, Rickles, Dangerfield, Murphy, Burr, Norm MacDonald, and so on. They are all too smart and their stuff is genius
I can't find the clip but one insult stands out in my mind. Al and Peg were talking about their HS prom. Peggy says (and I'll have to paraphrase here), "Ooo Al, you were such a tiger that night!" Al replies, "Yeah Peg, who would've thought I'd ever see you again?" If you can find that clip, I'd love to see it.
Staci and Justin-another source of laughs that would not fly today is the 'Dean Martin Roasts'-especially those by Foster Brooks and Don Rickles. Check them out.
Funny thing is that thanks to haters to the show is that it became so famous and got alot of free publicity. Thanks to them it lasted so long and became so popular. Al Bundy rocks!!!!
You look like David Ramsey at times. Oliver Queens body guard in arrow. I'm not sawing you are the same but from some angles you could be his stunt double.
It was weird how our parents wouldn't let us watch adult TV shows, why wouldn't they just cancel everything? That's easier than parenting anyway. Give them full access to the internet though, friend of child 👍
This show would work today as we have both south park and family guy both producers don't give a flying dutchman what people think, and go a extra mile to make fun of said people
you know if people would just be like they used to be and if you didn’t like something you just turned it off and didnt watch it. nowadays everybody has to tell everybody what to do and it’s getting ridiculous
You should watch some of the full episodes of 'Married With Children' they were great, especially the first three years. If you watch the show you realize that although Al may have thrown some insults around he was ridiculed mercilessly by everyone on the show for being a shoe salesman and making very little money. The only thing that Al had going for him was that he scored 5 touchdowns in one game when he played high school football and when he got into fights he would almost always win.
@@billrab1890 Just found this to confirm: "He loves nudie magazines, free beer, bowling and "nudie" bars, and often cherishes the glory moment of his past: scoring four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the fictional Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus fictional Andrew Johnson High School, including the game-winning ..."
Funny enough the show originally had poor ratings on the new Fox channel until some woman started a writing campaign to get it cancelled. She inadvertently gave the show the publicity it needed, the ratings went up and it lasted 11 seasons. It was a favorite of people in prison for some reason (probably because Chrisina Applegate). I have them all on DVD.
You wanna talk about stuff that would be cancelled today, at least in America, you should check out some Jimmy Carr. He's a British comedian who makes Al Bundy seem friendly and polite by comparison. Fair warning, he makes his career on testing just how offensive he can get with his audience, then he leapfrogs far over that line. You have been warned. 😜🤣
