People dont understand what the 99 rams did for the nfl. They are literally what all top offensive teams today are built on . Fast high flying badasses. And on top of that they only allowed like 15/16 points a game making their defense top 5. They are easily one of the greatest teams ever . Averagin over 500 yards a game. HOF QB. The best rb at the time. One of the best wr duos and probably the best receiving core if you factor in how much faulk lined up at wr. Their oline was ridiculous LT orlando pace is one of the best ever. And they put up these numbers when defenses were much tougher when CBS could pester and hit wrs from the moment the ball snapped it's not like today where you cant even touch wrs anymore . If this team played today they would have averaged well above 40 pts agame . To me if you factor in offense defense and special teams they have to be one of the top 5 greatest teams ever .

For the people who do not remember or were not born yet. Let me add some multi-context to this team during this era " Greatest Show on Turf" The previous year Vikings went 15-1 with Randall Cunningham at QB. They lost to Atlanta in the NFC title game, Atlanta lost to Denver with Elway as they went back to back. Elway retired. The Rams came out of nowhere with a 13-3 record! So in this game Vikings had a chip that they felt they were still capable of getting to the Superbowl despite being the 4th seed. The Rams obliterated them like never ever before. The final score does not dictate a close game, Trust me, it was not in the second half! The following game the Rams won a tough and controversial low-scoring win vs the Bucs, I personally felt like the Rams went too conservative that game, they should have opened up vs the great Bucs Patt Sap, Brooks, Lynch HOF defense. This game could have gone either way, The Rams escaped as the great Patt Summerall stated at the end of the game with Ricky Proel's catch. RIP PATT. On the AFC side this same postseason, The Jaguars came out of nowhere going 14-2 But the Titans led by RIP Steve McNair had their number winning all 3 matchups that season, including the AFC title game. Mark Brunell, Jimmy Smith, Tony Boselli, and Fred Taylor were never the same after that. Jags vs Rams could have been one of the best matchups ever!.. This is why Jag fans are so stoked with Sunshine and ETN. They believe they can reach the glory days and more. It's been a log time since that time happened. In the Superbowl, The Rams defeated the Titans and won the Superbowl. Kurt Warner went from grocery store clerk bagger to Arena football great, to Superbowl MVP in a short period. Taking Trent Greens' unfortunate injury replacement and running to the stars with it. Kevin Carter was the defensive player of the year I believe or sack leader for the Rams. The following year in 2000, the Rams played the Broncos on MNF first week. and boy it was a dandy, must watch that game, but the rams D was not the same that year. They ended up losing to the Saints in the Wildcard. In 2001, 9/11 happened, Rams went 14-2, beat the Patriots in RS in Foxborough with Brady as a rookie I think. But in the SB, the Pats won their first title 17-14 on late FG. Rams again went super conservative. Did not use Faulk enough and they lost. This is where Spygate originated from with the Pats. IMO, it could have also a symbology with 9/11. It was a big deal then with everything going on. It was the make or break of who would become a dynasty here. The Pats did and the Rams, unfortunately, did not. Warner was replaced by Marc Bulger, and the rams went into dormant mode until recently. Feel free to add more context for the young bloods to learn history commenters. I loved the Rams back then! Go watch Falulks San Diego State highlights and Colts highlights before he became a Ram. The trade that sent Faulk to the Rams could be the best trade in NFL history. Colts could have kept Faulk with Manning. Imagine the possibilities! Everyone have a good one!

I'll never forget leaving the game early because of the drubbing and all the Rams fans hitting us with the foam yellow sticks they gave out at the game. It really wasn't done in mean spirit kind of a way, just kind of friendly reminder that we got worked on the field. Many times you can actually see more on tv versus being at the game. However, you kind of had to see that Rams team on the fast track in person to truly appreciate their speed. Those cats could ball. Sad to see them leave.

Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk, Isaac Bruce, and Tori Holt all brought much excitement to St. Louis. The NFL received their team for the much larger TV market of L.A. but St. Louis should have never been penalized doing so. An expansion team should have been awarded as part of the resolution. St. Louis was ready to build another stadium for an owner would would have been found and contributed. In order to move, it took Stan Kroenke to sign an indemnification agreement to compensate NFL owners in the event of any St. Louis lawsuits, which did then follow.

I remember watching Faulk in college with ASU. He was like Dr. J on the football field, every game, then he just kept doing it in the pros. Him and Sanders.. And Brown, are my all time favorite running backs. Simpson could have been in the discussion, but he blew it.

How cool! An old “satellite feed” recording. I remember back in the day before commercial retail satellite TV, a lot of people living in the country, truck drivers and traveling popular bands had huge satellite dishes and could “steal” some TV signals. Some people even had “decoding” devices when networks started digitizing and encoding their signals. Man, those were the days. In case you youngsters didn’t know it, some folks created their own “NFL Sunday Ticket” back in the days before commercial retail satellite service. This appears to be the Fox feed from the stadium to the satellite or possibly the feed from the satellite to Fox. Either way, you can hear the announcers and sometimes the engineers talking to each other during commercial breaks - and NO commercials! LOL! 🤣🤪🤣

I know Jeff George took a lot of abuse as a poster child for the NFL bust QB but he had a far superior career to a lot of high picks. He was in the league for 11 years and threw 41 more TDs than ints. Far better than Akili Smith, Ryan Leaf JaMarcus Russell, Joey Harrington, Matt Leinert, Tim Couch and Heath Schuler, Art Schlichter .
