I have studied this masterpiece off and on for decades. I know it well. For me, this performance is absolute perfection. I have not heard anyone come close -- not Brendel, not Goode, not Schnabel, not Schiff -- and certainly not me :-) Her astonishing pianistic command makes things possible for her that aren't available to almost anyone and she uses that rare ability to achieve a musical result that I couldn't have even imagined was possible. A pianistic genius playing the work of a composing genius.
What a gift from Martha Argerich; and that we might in this life-time attend one of her concerts - how privileged we are; her musicianship: it’s as though generations of her heritage are demanding expression; we love your talent Martha and thankful for all your work so that we can hear the music of the brilliant classical composers. Thank you for posting!
I'm sorry, but why do you use the word 'unbelievable' in regard to a typical performance of a common Beethoven sonata? Well played, to be sure, but 'incredible'?
Martha, the goddess of piano herself.. ❤ playing a piece I havent heard either. Beethoven would be smiling and so am I. Thank you for uploading this. 🎼
Wow ! Thankyou ! However magic connections you have to make seeing this real . Her intelligence and insight into early Beethoven is a gift . Wonderful that We have her live ! and on film playing this ! The op.101 AM she does too !
I am going away on holidays next week so I won't be posting for a while. I am going to post another recording this coming Sunday. Which one do you prefer? Audio recording of the Grieg concerto in Sweden 1968 (very good sound) or video from Japan in 1998 of Martha and Jura Margulis playing Mussorgsky 's Night on a Bald Mountain?
Many more wonderful things still to come. You can thank the UK government for having imposed a national lockdown last winter. We were all stuck at home so this is when I uploaded all these recordings on RU-vid
