Hey, friend, what is your favourite recording of Martha Argerich?
@daniels7052
@daniels7052 Год назад
Most difficult question to answer there are so many to choose from
@UgniusPianist
@UgniusPianist Год назад
@@daniels7052 I see what you mean! I always feel that my favorite recordings are very much influenced by my own personal psychological 'state'... I remember for a long time I felt that the only recording I could listen to was Gilels' playing Scriabin Sonata no.3....
@Daniel_1223
@Daniel_1223 Год назад
I can't pick a single favourite, but her Chopin sonata 3, Prokofiev concerto 3 and Strauss Burleske are recordings that I've listened to countless times (among others...)
@UgniusPianist
@UgniusPianist Год назад
@@Daniel_1223 i totally support this! The recordi g of her Prokofiev's 3, and Chopin 3 sonata is something out of this world! I also think her Ravel concerto in G (slow movement especially) is unbeatable!

@Daniel_1223 Год назад
@@UgniusPianist Yea, the Ravel concerto in G is one of my favourites, the 2nd movement really moves me. And she plays it so well.

Could you do a technique analysis video on Marc-Andre Hamelin? His playing is uniquely fluid and relaxed, but he's still able to achieve more explosive virtuosic effects than anyone. I've always wondered how he achieves this.

The other amazing thing about her repeated notes is the variety of tone she gets out of the same note! And in the Scarlatti, the way she accents certain notes and shapes it.

Martha manages to keep both the 4th and 5th fingers relaxed and the conserved energy (perhaps) allows for more speed. Thanks for this.

Thanks for these particular videos. Maybe her pianos are custom made. I recall one of these Scarlatti videos captures her pedal work, which is amazing. Her pedal work is the reason those sounds are crystal clear.

I have a feeling she plays the same pianos as everyone else :)
@ilikeplayingffftonecluster851
@@UgniusPianistPiano and action do really matter though, she grew up on concert hall worthy pianos not old spinets or uprights so that certainly helps as well.Her technique is incredible regardless.

You didn’t mention the main technique she’s using. It’s in and out coupled with forearm rotation. Right for the third finger, to the left for finger two and the thumb. Out for fingers two three and in for the thumb.

She looks like she’s scratching the keys. Or another way of looking at it is her 1, 2, and 3 fingers are running on a treadmill.

My 1st exposure to Ms Argerich... In addition to your analysis, she appears leverage the bounce back of the key whilst the key is only coming back up 1/2 to 2/3 of the way + using the tips or a small surface area of her fingers to strike the keys (see ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yhC8o7ko9xY.html ) Of course, lots of practice so that this technique is muscle memory & without any tension which also will not induce injury over her lifetime. To achieve this, are you using fingers 3-1-2 or please explain. Thank you & Cheers from Seattle! BTW, I attended an Oscar Peterson concert which was toward the end of his life - most incredible playing (I am more of a jazz enthusiast).
