She's actually a major nerd, in the very best way. When she was first popular, I got so frustrated by her super involved instructions, like for pesto, which started with "grow basil." 🙄 But now I love how excited and detailed she is. Some of her interests are so obscure! 😊

I love that Martha had a garage sale. Your question, "Was everbody well behaved" hit home for me. My last garage sale the first customer wanted to buy a $2 item with a $100 bill?? To which I said, "Dude its 8am and you want change of a $100 bill... either buy 50 more $2 items or go to the deli up the street and get change. Do I look like a freaking cashier?"

Martha is so nerdy. When she said her Modern Maze was gonna be "a fun thing", I could see the nerdy excitement I feel when things happen that I feel only I'm excited for or I see the potential in. She can barely contain her excitement.

This is the best insight into how the rich and wealthy think. But I love it. The words she uses... how she's like 80 and thinking that everyone knows about the biggest maze in Hawaii... and she's like, I've been thinking about mazes for a long time. And she's breaking it to the horses. The whole thing is fantastic. She's like 80.

Mom had also served as president of the Mukilteo Garden Club ...

Ms. Stewart's helpers: If you are still looking for more trees and shrubs for your maze there are many independent nurseries in the area around Perry, Ohio (about 30 miles east of Cleveland), at one time the "capital of the world" for shrubbery because of the rich sandy soil found there. They can provide the volume you need, at a low price.

The Dole plantation Maze in Hawaii was once the worlds largest, although it's 3 acres so Stewart's maze won't even be bigger than that.

Jackal clarification (not quite correction): Tag sale is a Connecticut thing. Regional phrase. In Minnesota, it's usually a garage sale. Many other places, it's a yard sale. I've heard "tag sale" only in Connecticut.

Hawaii itself is a Maze. Especially Maui and Oahu. I was honored to meet Alfred Hitchcock's grand daughter at the Hawaii firm festival 2015, Waikiki at the IBM building. After the screening of Spellbound. I gave her a colorful drawing of an Owl.
