i was surprised myself how well her first album went with lazy walking trips across a hot finnish country landscape a few summers ago. that is how the mood of an album can be transformed into something else - from city clubs into a soundtrack of a chillout holiday. This was the fírst track to get me into the mood.. very sharp the lyrics on the album though - smiling devilishly with them.
Hard to pick a favorite song but this one reaches deep..thanks for sharing this video et merci belle Martha! Goodnight City did not shut off the light, have been up all night watching videos and discovering more of her music!
I love Rufus so I bought her cd when it came out. I didn't love it at first, but I listened to it and most of the songs really grew on me, esp. this one. I really love it now. The part in the middle that's about "the run of the mill, destitute and the cold" is so beautiful. LOVE her. Katie Melua is good, their tone is similar, I guess. But Katie has a more generic sweet voice, and Martha's singing is more distinctive. I think she is truly unique.
she's very good. For all the negative comments...I think she took some getting used to when I first heard her, but in the end I think she's fine and good to listen to.
I loved martha since the first time i listened to her. Talented like her father (thanks mr loudon!) but in a different type of music ( altought it is quite similiar in a lot of things. And plus she´s hot.
Oh woops i didn't mean to give this comment a thumbs own. i clicked it wrong, in-fact i totally agree. If anyone's complaining about not being able to hear what words she's saying they obviously don't speak English at all.
hmmm well I can understand her fine for the most part, I can see where your coming from. I dunno but hey, she is damn awesome and certainly does put alot of emotion into her songs
The sound is from a pick-up on the strings! You can get that sound on any kind of box (cigar). The good news, is you don't have to to spend a fortune on a Martin in order to get that sound.
These are not my people I should never have come here I know a place I've seen the faces I'll take the road from factory to factory oh yeah.... Run run run never look back I know a place I've seen the place I'll take the road from factory to factory oh yeah.... And there are millions of people around and I love them all I need their love
I read an interview on Martha recently, it said she can really play guitar, can she? I am not familiar with her music and I am not down playing her abilities shown in this vid, but there is a difference between strumming basic chords and playing interesting chords.
Acoustic guits should be miked. Especialy a MARTIN. But Martha W. could tap on a cigar box and I would love her sond and singing. No mater what she does, or how she does it, with what, it turns me on!
