Needed to revisit this for a good laugh. Mizrahi is so hilarious in this. So clearly lusting after Rufus, LOL. Especially funny are Mizrahi's expressions when Rufus is on the piano. And the dog is the icing on the cake. Oh well, at least Isaac has good taste.
I love how Rufus has his eyes closed for almost the whole performance, looking like he's being carried away by the music. And his voice is truly magnificent...
I think he was trying to shut out the image of Isaac drooling all over his piano. It was the only way he could concentrate on his song. Mizrahi is clearly enamored with Mr. Wainwright, but I don't think the sentiment is mutual!!! And the dog running around is hilarious.
Omg even as a baby child here Rufus Wainwright hits the minor chords hauntingly and it melts my heart to the cory-est core crazy Cory SILLYHEART21 Spekka-Lange-Duhjst and here I leave the DaVinci code/Rosetta Stone so that I might be found AKA somewhere I pray find me whomever catches my Cosmic Frisbee. Will you let it pass or do you dare to dream and reach up to the stars and grasp it firmly before I stray out into a wormhole of oblivion? I hope you do. You know who you are. Bows and flows of angel hair and ice cream castles in the air ....
that would have suited the doco. Grey Gardens so well. The story goes that when asked what she would call the baby and she saidRufus her friend said That's a dogs name!
The talent that you need to play that long a song on a piano with your eyes close whilst singing, is certaiinly immense, only thing that other guy is smothering him and it makes the whole thing uncomfortable x
Anybody else reminded of Ewan McGregor watching this interview? I mean the smiling face and the voice (but not the accent)... the similarity almost makes me think they belong to a certain human appearance type.
Rufus is so talented, but handsome as hell too. I can understand why Isaac is trying to put the moves on him. But Rufus ain't having none of it. Isaac comes across as a dirty old man in this, but I love his dog! "Are you well enough? Are you warm enough?" What,- is Isaac Rufus' doctor??? This interview is hilarious only because Isaac is such a doofus and "in lust" with Rufus.
My question is what is that thing on Rufus's hip? It looks like it's either a walkie-talkie or an iPhone, but this was 2002 and the iPhone hadn't been invented yet and why on earth would a guy like Rufus have a walkie-talkie? That's what I would like to know!
Isaac Mizrahi is so awkward in this interview (and often was during his interviews for his show), so much so that he's unlikable. He's more endearing when he's just being himself - Unzipped is a good doc.
