I think that when Martin talks about the MP4 and how everything works together so well that of course Gordon Murray is mega important but for me it is a demonstration of how Ron Dennis was able to bring together a Huge corporation like Honda, a big Sponsor like Marlboro and two of the greatest racing drivers of all time plus a few years before instigating carbon fibre chassis . The guy is an absolute motor sport Hero . Can you imagine bringing together all those powerful forces and getting them to work together ! ? I think the reason that people find it difficult to get on with him is because he is an effing genius . Prost , Senna , Lauda , Honda, Murray ,Jack Brabhams chief mechanic during his world champ years,Watson , Project 4 , McLaren road car sales. I only started this as a mini comment . I’m not here to blow smoke up his arse but I ‘be been watching racing since 1970 and this bloke is “The Don “ . Ron The Don.

Massive Martin Brundle fan for 3 decades now and is someone my son talks about with great reaspect. Quite a few drivers have missed out though. Shui could of had 3 extra titles, Alonso missed out on a couple and with hamilton missing out in 07, you'll remember Alonso just missed out also that year. Motor racing can be cruel at times
@MT-pv2rf
@MT-pv2rf 4 года назад
Dunno what you're so pissy about. Hamilton absolutely should have won the 2007 title, as he led the championship standings virtually the whole season, and it took one of the worst strategy decisions in f1 history in China that saw his 20s lead over his teammate reduced to nothing in 2 laps, as he slid around all over the place on tyres down to the canvas, before another BS situation happened in Brazil, where the supposed "default setting in the gearbox selected neutral" and ended his championship hopes. At least he has 6 titles now, so whatever.
@Ranelicious
@Ranelicious 4 года назад
@@jdconolly9157 close misses and should haves are a diffrent thing, kimi retiring twice in 07 and winning more races than alonso & hamilton, he deserved the title in 07, hamilton made mistakes hence losing the 07 title, thats not an argument, in kimis case you can argue 03 and 05 because of him retiring from the lead/podiums everysingle time due to a tyre ripping out or an engine malfunction. i totally agree with you that people have missed titles but there are definitely a line between shoulds and coulds, hamilton could've won the 07 title but didnt cause of some rookie mistakes. hamiltons only retirement was cause of his own fault and still had 1 retirement less than kimi, and still lost, kimi was overall better in 07 hence him winning the title. and yes, you can make the same argument for alonso in 12. my case and point: hamilton lost in 2007 PERIOD. came close.. but still lost.
@Ranelicious
@Ranelicious 4 года назад
@@MT-pv2rf Blame hamilton for china, that was his fault, if you wanna argue about hamilton winning a title, argue about 2016 when his engine blew up and lost the title for him then. im pissy because its getting pretty fucking tiring of hearing britts(sky sports, especially brundle and the scottish guy) talk about hamilton if he was a god or something, yes, he's good, but not unbeatable for example jb beating him in 11. "massa was the champ for 35seconds" why is there no argument for massa in 08, you can argue and even win the argument that massa deserved the 08 title instead of hamilton. title was decided beautifully in 08. but i hear about "should've in 07" instead of "should've in 08" just because we're talking about hamilton in 07 and him getting so close(and eventually losing because of his own mistakes), but not when he maybe didn't exactly deserve the title in 08. with massas early season problems(you could actually disprove me here if he crashed the car himself or something similiar, i dont remember because i wasnt invested in massa... ever) Kimi fought and won in 2007 and i'd be happy if it was remembered like it should be, Kimi making a comeback and paying back mercedes(engines) for those painful years of 03 and 05 when he got robbed. TLDR Hamiltons not a fucking god and he was close in 07 but couldnt make it, he just couldnt, he choked.
@JT-ko2ib
@JT-ko2ib 4 года назад
Personally, if anyone lost the title in '07 through their own driving, it was Alonso. Threw it off the first corner in Spain and Canada. Totalled his car in Japan. Unlucky with reliability in France qualifying. Missed an opportunity to overtake Hamilton in USA when faster in the race. Threw away a top podium place with his antics in Hungary. Depending on where you think he would have finished those races, apart from France, he gave away a lot of points.
