It's a worry! Looks like Doc Martin is almost normal now. I think I prefer him autistic or whatever, as I love seeing people getting away with saying what they really think.
Only the beauty of Port Isaac attracts me to this show. The character played by the very likeable Martin is beyond ridiculous. His waiting room would be empty in real life. Other characters are treated by the writers as simpletons, (e.g. Burt and the policeman). I consider the writing on this show to be quite dreadful. What a shame. But I'm certain there will be many who disagree with me.
Yes, I disagree--but that's fine. Everyone has a different opinion. I just found the show this year. I've known about it for a long time, but just never bothered to check it out. Then I saw Martin Clunes as a presenter on one of his "islands" documentaries, and he seemed so likable and affable that I said, ok, let me check out that Doc Martin show of his. Once I did, I was hooked. I don't think the Martin Ellingham character is realistic (or anything like Martin Clunes)--but the show itself is very appealing to me. Definitely the setting, but I think the writing and the acting are terrific. It surely does make me laugh, but it has very touching parts as well. I'm not looking for realism with Doc Martin--and I don't think they are trying to create a realistic situation. but once you get into the characters and the storyline, for me, it's a very satisfying show to look at.
@@PerthTowne you have probably beyond measure captivated the most comprehension verbal explanation of this series which I adore. It takes me away from daily dresses into a thought pattern of peace. Love, Chloe. 9/19/21
