Martin Delaney was the real OG even titans like Frederick Douglas couldn't touch. He was an actual man of action, not just an orator. Within himself he incorporated and incarnated the scholar, philosopher, warrior, healer and visionary.
@ronaldwesby4995
@ronaldwesby4995 Год назад
We needed him and Douglas, thank God for them both. Douglas could travel, his speeches got coverage and reached thousands, while Delaney inspired and encouraged Black men around him. They were both Gods of their area...and we honor them Today.👌🏿👍🏿✊🏿🖤

@@ronaldwesby4995 No need to down play the actions of anyone working towards to freedom of Black ppl. Everyone's skills are needing to move society forward as a whole and use the strengths they have to the best of their ability. It's what we all should do. A man who physically fought has owner and escaped to freedom is clearly more than JUST an orator.
@ronaldwesby4995
@ronaldwesby4995 Год назад
@@africarib Fredrick Douglas inspired men such as Martin Delaney and countless others importantly; he was able to get financing for abolitionist to continue the fight for freedom. It was Douglas who had the eye of the white-power structure who Galvanized the citizenry against Slavery and for freedom. Douglas's had three sons that fought in the Civil War.👌🏿👍🏿✊🏿🤔

@ATACXGYMCAPOEIRA 11 месяцев назад
@@africarib I don't think I or brother @ronald4wesby995 are downplaying Frederick, brethren. If that message is being sent? Please allow me to apologize and clarify. I and I think we very much admire Frederick Douglas. I'm simply highlighting the crucial, never should be overlooked difference between the two...and the reality that Martin Delaney...as an actual blooded battlefield warrior...excited the greater overall fear in the heart of the colonizers. Brilliant military men cause imperialists more pause than brilliant orators. It's much easier for military men to learn to orate ( as they orate effectively to some degree or other to their soldiers regularly ) than it is for men of words to learn the ways of the sword ( whose habits of mind and chosen vocation takes them as far away from the warrior arts and warrior mettle as libraries tend to be from battlefields ). It's far easier to manage and regulate the places where speeches can be made and who, when, etc crowds can gather to hear these speeches than it is to manage and regulate a trained, disciplined and zealous revolutionary army of life and death motivated ex-enslaved brethren bent on gettin they gitback n overthrowing all #raciatfeudalists .

By your last description of what he stood for, right before you say Frederick Douglas was more acceptable to certain forced, Malcolm X rose in my mind as a budding flower from Baba Delaney's garden. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to educating your community. Over the past 3 years, I have become extremely interested in learning the often ignored and sometimes rewritten history of people within the African diaspora. Not that other people are not important, but Africans stand at the foundations of world civilization, religion, science, and culture. Those who gained power and benefited from the misfortunes of those with Black African heritage often times encountered or were made aware of these truths but they suppressed, ignored, or manipulated the truth for their own benefit and our detriment. Keep up the great work 😊.

For Martin Delaney to assert himself the way he did , in those times...Fredrick Douglas had to run from him...He wasn't having none of it: He was a freeman and that gave certain advantages...But as the saying goes, You can take the cat out the "jungle " but you can't take the"jungle" out the cat...Meaning He knew he came from a mighty people, and so did his mother...Salute.
