Hi Aaron. I've installed the Anthem SL in my SC-13E incorporating the original battery box. It is a little tight for room but it does fit. Sound is excellent! 3 months on, I have to say, for my needs, this is the best Martin I've ever owned inc 000-28, 000-15's, and several dreads. Superb playability, excellent balanced tone and projection. I traded in a Taylor 516ce for this with absolutely no regrets and chose it over an OM-21 and 0-18 which I'd tested at the same time. I fitted a 'white' genuine GraphTec tusq saddle as I suspect that the factory fitted one may be GraphTec NuBone. Cheers, Graham
Congrats Graham! I have heard that the Anthem does not fit in the SC in the conventional way but it can be done. It is impressive s that you prefer Thai guitar over those others when it has the lighter strings etc. I will definitely check one out as soon as I can!
@@aaronshortmusic If I remember rightly Aaron, I think I had to install the mic of the Anthem slightly further forward than the optimum position under the saddle and at the edge of the bridge plate due to the X bracing. The position doesn't seem too critical though with that mic as it doesn't seem to have affected the sound quality. I've strung it with D'Addario XT custom light on the wound strings and light guage on the plains. Some folk have mentioned that the SC-13E doesn't have much bass. I think it has a good bass response considering body depth is only 4". Bass wise and for warmth of tone, it blows a friend's V braced 814ce Deluxe out the water! If you're interested, here's a wee video demoing how my guitar sounds. Unfortunately at present I don't have any recordings demoing the plugged in sound. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-u7s_y2kaHlA.html
Nice video Aaron, I was the guy who posted in the SC group. I’m not too worried about the new models. I gig mine often. And love the aesthetics and pickup system. And bought mine for $1,399 Guitar prices are getting outrageous. I don’t see these flyin off the shelves. Time will tell
More and more guitars are shipping without a hard shell case these days. It is much more cost effective for them. I personally do not mind as long as the soft case is very high quality which they mostly seem to be. The only problem with acoustic guitars is keeping them humidifier in the Winter in a soft case. It’s simply not as easy as using a high quality hard shell case.
@@aaronshortmusic even that is dying now too. Good luck getting any case soon. These companies keep pushing the envelope of charging more and giving less. Investors need their profit increases and in the end to get there both decreased cost of mfg ( either through cheaper materials, cheaper labor, or both ) and decreased bundle-ins are going to keep happening.
I agree that I would’ve loved to see the SC13e offered in a 28 model or with Rosewood back and sides. I’ve owned the SC13e $1599 model: I found the acoustic sound to be missing bottom end. Otherwise I really enjoyed the guitar, it sounds better than Taylor’s ES 2 electronics IMHO. The action and playability were great, the soft shell case is very well made. Lastly, it’s great to see Martin developing new products: this is the first Martin I really enjoyed the tone: it was somewhere between a Taylor and a traditional Martin. The new model at $1299: the price is right!
U totally agree on the Anthem SL issue Aaron. Martin should have gone for the best Baggs system at 2k. I have the 000-15 Streetmaster and I bought the Anthem SL and put it in. Great guitar for me to use in church.
The price shocked me but then I thought about Martins current pricing and it does fit in and prices of all gear have gone up recently. I’m not making excuses but I can see why the price is what it is.
Hi. Why is it ridiculous? Sweetwater have all of the specs and photos on their site and I recommend them as a dealer. You do not have to buy from them.
