Martin Sheen gives 100% to everything he touches, that's a big part of who he is and how he was raised. Didn't really get passed on to his kids very well, Emilio Estevez did alright, but Charlie Sheen just... Didn't... get that memo. Also it blows my mind that Martin Sheen has grandkids. Emilio Estevez's daughter is 36. FUCK MY LIFE.
@@hyhena-gaming9986 Thats probably why its so fucking good. I mean the fact that they got legendary actors like sheen or jennifer hale to work on the games I think helped all the less experianced actors and ended up with then delivering way better lines aswell.

I love that he refers to it as a "show". I don't think that's him being ignorant or out of touch. I think he had a lot of respect for these games as real interactive dramas, not just pew pew bang bang video games.

He probably saw it as a great artistic challenge. I’m not an expert on his filmography or theatre work but I generally see him play characters of high moral fiber. So someone like TIM lets him express a more sinister expression, and he very well captured the tragedy of the character
I think that no one could pull the Illusive man better than this man Martin Sheen, I cant imagine some other person doing it, I remember when I did finish the 3 games when my gf´s saw the ending part on Paragon(SPOILER ALERT) when the Illusive man shot himself... "that one babe, is one of the best villains I saw in a long LONG time". defenitely one of the best in the history of gaming.
Yea, he really did totally become that role.. Idk just the way he would sit there chiefing his ciggs so relaxed. Idk i just cant imagine anyone else doing the voice .
When they hire a celebrity the writing team makes sure to tailor the character around the actor, i don't know if you noticed, but TIM shares also some physical eesemblance to Martin, i think that he didn't just record the lines but also acted the scenes, to give the animators references for the facial movements and gestures.
ME is full of fantastic actors of course, but few of them are extraordinary even among this elite group... I mean for example, Miranda and her voice actress is fantastic but if for some reason rhey had to cut her voice our in the legendary edition and replace it with someone else's, i would get over it eventually. But imagine replacing Ilusive Man, Joker, Anderson. Garrus. No fucking way. Id just skip every scene with them or mute my TV.

Martin Sheen absolutely embodies everything that the Illusive Man is. I honestly wouldn't ask for anyone else in the part. He brings so much charisma to the character that you're honestly left wondering if you should trust him or not, despite his actions being outright villainous.
It’s so cool they got Martin Sheen for that role and he actually did an amazing job a lot of times big celebrity actors half ass their roles in video games but he put his all into it

Yes so did I, he is just such a fantastic voice actor and a fantastic character. Every talk Shepard and the Illusive Man had wasn't long enough for me.
The Legendary Edition is out this Friday and I was talking to a friend about how much I love the Illusive Man and how perfect Martin Sheen was as his voice. I dug up this gem of a video to cement my point. I love that Martin doesn't care that it's a game, he treats it the same as any other character, which he should. Video games are on par with tv shows and movies for storytelling. Top man!
That's true, but he was more of an anti-villain in 2, maybe even an anti-hero in some ways. He was helping Shepard save lives, and do good things, even if there's always a shady element to his actions.
I never thought someone like Martin Sheen could reinvent himself as one of the best voice actors of 2010-2013 modern videogames (old-fashioned, ultra-catholic, veteran actor of the 70s-80s), but damn, he did it
Probably my favorite voice actor in a video game. He just fits the character so perfectly. And Bioware did such a great job developing the Illusive Man.
He's still an amazing talent, that's for sure, but when Legendary/Warner Brothers get around to making ME2 into a movie, I was thinking Emilio Estevez, his son, who looks very much like him and is younger.

@RollingMerc Actually, both Saren and TIM(Jack harper) got struck indirectly by the monolith that Sarens brother Desolas brought back to Palaven to study and make super soldiers who were slaves of the monolith. Both TIMs friend and fellow merc Ben Hislop and Sarens brother Desolas got struck directly turning into indoctrined slaves of the devolutionary monolith, while TIM conducted energy through Ben, and Saren through Desolas.
@Vccine ....? I doubt that the kid was the one controling the machines. The actual thing controling the Reapers was an A.I; The Citidel. The kid was merely an image that suited the image that Shepard was constantly thinking about.
@HaydenCalhoun Yeah, I read that bit, I'm just not sure if it's true, though. I really hope it is true, I NEED to see more of The Illusive man, he's too awesome. I hope he lives if the last mission in ME3 was indeed an hallucination.
I'd have to guess that in a straight up fistfight TIM could probably tear Shepard in 2. He's got some pretty serious Reaper mods done to himself, I wouldn't suspect he left physical abilities off the list.
@gongolong Jack notes that a dark time is coming, and humanity will be tested and while they may not know who is doing the testing or why, but they must meet the challenge as humanity has done every single time in the past. Humanity must succeed because doing anything else would be inhuman. Jack says that he will watch the dark places, and bring them into the light. Jack says there is no magic, only technology and tools they can and must master.
