I can’t explain it without sounding like an idiot. Jenever. Yuh nay fur. I think Genever as you pronounce it is fine as an English adaptation. I can actually make this guy when I rotate my sweet vermouth back in... right in time to also try the Hanky Panky that made me buy Fernet Branca! Hey at 6:20 you said it perfectly!
I was just thinking how cool this is and how the heck it is done. Great job as usual! I love how the flag and the feathers on the soldiers helmets were moving. Great!

@@TheTribalBarGuy I am happy when I see people notice small things like that. Nothing fancy, a little bit of Photoshop and After Effects! Thanks!
@ Well I do not know if it was fancy or not from a technical point of view, but from the perspective of the viewer it was really cool to see it. It definitely elevated the whole experience of watching the video. Thank you!
hey Kevin, very very nice content! keep up the good work! May be you can try something with green chartreuse as new spirit for your next cocktails. One of the best cocktail channels and by far with the most qualitative content. Cheers!
I got some information about pronunciation of "jenever" and it is kind of "Ye - nay- fer" (you can listen to it on Wikipedia too :- ) I've read somewhere that "genever" it would be just a different way to write it, taken from and ancient version of dutch...but i think it is actually just the english way of saying that word! Anyway, i absolutely fell in love with this spirit, it is so adaptable, for example i made a great drink mixing it together with mint and basil, it worked so good because it matches with floral notes like gin does and just herbaceous ones like whisky does...it is a perfect mix of the two of those. Simply amazing!! Finally, i have to say that i use Old Tom gin in the Martinez and not jenever...ahahahah, but i think probably both versions are good!
Nice! I wasn't previously familiar with genever, I'll have to check it out. I'm not the biggest gin fan ... but I can be coaxed to have a gin cocktail from time to time.
Recently I asked a friend to bring me a bottle of Genever from the Netherlands, so as soon as I get it I know what I will make to treat myself. Great video and the history facts were a good and educational addition. Cheers!
@@KevinKos due to the Covid restrictions traveling out of the Netherlands is on hold for now, but I hope to get the bottle soon. I will let you know what I think once I have it. Cheers!
I have tasted this genever, my friend brought it with him on christmass eve, it was definitly very veryy good., next time i will try out this cocktail!
I do a take on a classic dry dirty Martini using Cachaca. I use jalepeno olives. I would love to see your take on my cocktail I call it a Hot Dirty Brazilian. Have fun with it!
I've never had Genever before, I don't see it much at all in liquor stores in my home state in the US. I'll definitely start looking for it to try. I think there are only one or two options for the area where I live.
I am in love with all sorts of fortified wines as well. I did. I used it in the Birthday episode, Sinatra's Manhattan, and Eggnog episode where I used Pedro Ximenez Sherry. Feel free to check it out.
Check out their website barack51.com or reach them on Instagram or Facebook. I am sure that they will help you with the order. It's really interesting indeed! I am sure that you will like it.
Thanks, it really turned out great! And I'm happy the genever-jennifer montage ended up being funny because it was quite frustrating while it was happening 🙈😅
I love a good Martinez, so I guess I need to make one with a Genever at some point. Only problem is that I don't know if the liquor stores near me actually stock it. Oh, and I made your Improved Champagne Cocktail, and it was delicious!
That's awesome, I'm so glad you liked it! Cognac really works great with champagne. And if you can't find genever near you, try ordering it online. It's a big part of cocktail history and well worth a try!
My first introduction to jenever was via kopstootje on a trip to the Netherlands. I like the spirit and brought a bottle home to share with friends. I never had a chance to share this last year for obvious reasons. I saw your view and tried one today. I love this cocktail. It surprised me with how delicious it is. Thank-you.
Thanks! It's great to see the work it's appreciated and it really means a lot to all of us at 'Cocktail Time'! These recipes are the best thing for you to try until we get back to normal again so give one a try!
