Marty McConnell - Def Poetry

i have watched this movie six times today. I tried googling Marty McConnell but found precious little. How can I learn more about her/potential upcoming tours?

I watched this performance of Marty McConnell on HBO almost exactly 4 years ago during a sticky Chicago June night and I was blown away by the strength of her words. "conspiracy of comfort", "give me one good reason to die", "generation of screamers" are words that reflect intelligence, albeit thoughts and feelings similar to these have been expressed by others. Relevant to Marty's poem is Anne Sexton's "Self in 1958" where in a different register Sexton questions the erosion of reality.

There are bad poets out their and she's not one of them, otherwise she wouldn't have been on t.v. She expressed herself and she did it well.Everyone clapped for her.For those of you who think she didn't do a good job expreesing herslf your just broken up because you know you will never be able to do that.Sheer jealousy.

it's people like marty that give me hope where there is so little hope to be found. she gets it.

this is a very good piece of work and powerfully presented. as an aside, is it me or does she bear a slight resemblance (both vocally and physically) to the character of "Kira" from Star Trek Deep Space Nine?!

Chikko, it's clear that you don't understand what she's trying to say...but anyways, great piece of writing, even greater piece of conceptualising the reality of our failure to progress in as a society

Marty McConnell attacks ones comfort zone with a machine gun loaded with poetic bullets of truth. No one ever lives until they have found something they would die for.

I think she was trying to say there are tons of causes and a lot "revolutions", but none are getting anywhere. She wants to die for a cause that has hope of inducing change.

So...I checked out these videos and, I'm impressed. Awesome. Please check out mine too! Poetry should be shared because it's a dying art. Love Jimmy the poet.

She performed at my school awhile ago, and I got to meet her. She's cool. All of her poetry is great, but a lot different than this

I don't know why, but she just doesn't do it for me. I just don't feel moved by her words, or her performance. Just talk.

Everytime.... everytime i listen to this it pulls at my heart. She is an amazing person. These are amazing words.
