I seen him at Opry around 1979 and what a show he put on.....he came out for 5 encoures before they forced him to end the show (I believe the amusement park was closing).
Marty was a true entertainer in every sense, loved to sing for his audiences and would frequently perform as long as the audiences wanted to hear him sing, which (as you can see in this video) he often did.
In 1977-78 ,after suffering his 3rd heart attack, his Dr’s told Marty unless he stop preforming and rest (he usually only slept 3-4 hours a night) that he wouldn’t get passed his 4th heart attack. But that wasn’t Marty Robbins and to the sadness of his worldwide fans we lost him, I believe, in 1982.
