I'll tell you what... Marty Stuart deserves every award he's ever been given (and that's a whole lot of them to be sure). 1 year later: I truly appreciate the handful of likes this comment has gotten. I wasn't looking for likes, but it does my heart good to know there are those of us who agree on Mr. Marty Stuart's award worthiness (and the whole band's for that matter). I have to add, Kenny Vaughan is one of my favorite guitarists on the planet (and one of my favorite people as well). 🙂

I'm glad that Marty ended up with Clarence's original B-Bender prototype Tele. In Marty's hands, it still kills, both on stage and in studio, instead of dry rotting on the wall of a Hard Rock Cafe somewhere, or locked in some rich non musician collectors vault, never to see the light of day again. Yes... It's still in good hands...

It makes me "sick" to see what they're getting for those, now!! Same with all the 60's "Muscle Cars" I owned through the 60's and 70's.... would literally be a millionaire at today's prices for what I had.. going by what I've seen on the Barrett Jackson Auto Auctions. Hind sight is ALWAYS, 20/20... isn't it?!? lol Haven't played since the early 70's, and just got back into the bass last year (2021), have three, now... and two Lap Steel guitars (two different tunings) which I'm learning. I noticed in all the comments that no one has mentioned the bass player. His name is Paul Martin, formerly lead singer for the awesome group Exile, and later, a member of Marty Stewart's Fabulous Superlatives. He has been working Nashville for many, many years and is a master musician. He plays just about any instrument you hand him. For the past 10 years he has been making music with his family under the name The Martin Family Circus.

Ken collaborated heavily with Marty on putting that together. Marty is not just a musician; but a historian, photographer (took the last photo of Johnny Cash a couple days before he passed), and a curator. I read it took about 8 years to put that series together. (18 of the artists interviewed for the production, passed before it actually aired) Also, Marty finally expects to open his Congress of Country Music museum in his hometown, sometime next year.

A well-chosen gem ("Country Boy Rock & Roll") from the rich repertoire of DON RENO, RED SMILEY & the TENNESSEE CUT-UPS bluegrass band: "Some hillbilly started pickin' / Everybody rocked and rolled!" I've always said Don Reno was a great songwriter (as well as a master on any stringed instrument). Don was known for producing under pressure. When I interviewed him in 1973, he told me he wrote a ton of songs on his way to the King recording studio in Cincinnati!

As a musician, I'm not a big fan of country music, but I am a huge fan of Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives. They are simply the best band working right now, and I'm thrilled to be going to see them live in July.

Marty Stewart is playing the Clarence White b- bender Telecaster which was designed by Graham Parsons from the Byrds circa 1969. Fantastic pedal steel licks!

I got to see three of Marty’s concerts. After every show they come out and meet and greet the public , shaking hands, signing autographs and selling their books and CDs. I love looking at and taking pics of his original Clarance White Fender guitar with the special guitar strap rigged up to bend the strings like a tremolo bar. Awesome musicians!

On the set practicing, some of the stage people made fun of the band etc., but after they played, Letterman’s band showed the love. Lotta talent in that band. Especially the sound of the lead guitar.

What's amazing is just how much Letterman enjoyed it. His show was always associated with rock while Leno was more the country show but Letterman has a real appreciation for americana style music. He has had a lot of artists on, some early in thier careers and some established, who were not well known to a general public but were country/americana - Elizabeth Cook, Kelly Willis, Jason Isbell, and more. Obviously he is a huge Marty fan.

You got to love RU-vid. Your not going to here stuff like this on Commercial Country radio today. When I listen to country on the radio it’s Sirius XM Outlaw Country. The American Country Music awards were on last Week (2019) and I would say there probably nothing like what Marty and Kenny just played. I stopped watching that program years ago. Thanks for posting this great video.
