Stable body shell just means further loading capability, it doesn't give away the fact that it is safe at all at 64kmph, the safety score points determine the safety assurance for passengers, which in this case is just 2 stars.

Congratulations. Alto actually failed to achieve 3 Stars due to lack of ESC, this was added after the Protocols were updated. GNCAP norms stats that to achieve 3 stars, you need 16 out of 34 points and Alto exceeded it by 5 points. Structural Rigidity was a major concern in these MS Tin Cans, but Alto has changed it. Average or rather good ratings for entry level segment with good Rigidity is all that a middle class family needs for Safety.

@@STgauss3268 I'm noticing that you are having an obsession of letting down the performance of this entry level hatchback for no apparent reason. Anyone whose treading here knows the meaning of the Stability rating. Main Highlight is, for its price and segment, it scored 21.67/34 ratings for adult protection which according to the upgraded protocols of 2022 is nearly 5 points last 16 which is the start of the 3 Star ratings, well if you dont count the star rating deducted for lack of ESC ofcourse. A car which starts from 3.99 Lakhs with strong enough structural rigidity and acceptable Ratings for its price can be considered as an option. Don't mislead potential buyers and put them in a false dilemma brother.

Honda City 4th gen scored 4 star but had unstable body shell but City 5th Gen will surely score 5 star rating with stable body shell because of improved platform, better Ultra high strength steel and safety features compared to 4th Gen City

Star ratings are given on the basis of the protection of the dummy and not actually the bodyshell Rigidity. For bodyshell Rigidity, a different rating is give which is stable and Unstable. Alto managed to cross the points required for 3 Stars in Adult safety, which is 16 points. Inspite of having 21, due to lack of ESC it failed to achieve 3 stars.

New protocols since June 2022 require ESC for 3+ stars. Alto would have scored 3 stars with old protocols that Tigor EV was assessed against. More pedal intrusion than Tigor and dummy readings indicated some limited risk of serious injury to driver’s right knee
