Global NCAP has recently released updated safety crash test ratings for the made-in-India Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Renault Triber. Although these ratings are for the South African markets, the MPVs tested are identical in spec to the India versions. Both models previously had higher ratings, but with Global NCAP's revised protocols, their scores have seen changes. This video compares the crash test safety ratings of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Renault Triber to see which MPV offers better safety.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga:
Adult Occupant Safety: 1 star
Child Occupant Safety: 2 stars
Points: 23.63 (Adult), 19.40 (Child)
Renault Triber:
Adult Occupant Safety: 2 stars
Child Occupant Safety: 2 stars
Points: 22.29 (Adult), 19.99 (Child)
Despite the points difference, the Triber's higher safety ratings make it a better option. Both vehicles' bodyshells were rated as unstable. For India-spec models, side thorax airbags might improve these scores.
