My grandfather had a zen steel , and he didn't know how precious it is , and drove it around 2 lakh km and after I grew up I had restored it and put it back to it's original days .
I just take a pause whenever i see a Carburetted Zen. That was the charisma of the Zen. Infact one of my relatives owned a Zen which they maintained poorly unfortunately, only to upgrade it with the Estilo. But the OG Zen is still a dream car for me along with an e46 3 series
I really appreciate such efforts, tribute to the most favourite & memorable member of our Family, not just mine but hundreds of thousands of Families of India.
Stock Carburetor engine, best power-to-weight ratio, drum brake, manual car steering, some of fanciest colors:- Golden, Peacock Green, Pistachio Yellow, 15 years no major engine work, the list can go on & on btw 2nd car - 2x engine overhaul :(
My dad bought this. We still use Zen LXI 2002 as our primary car. God it is pure love, never bored of driving my Zen. Still perfect. Wish I could keep it forever.
I remember my uncle's yellow zen. It was a dream zipping around. And the "boost button" was awesome, as kids we dint mind the hot mangalore afternoon heat if it ment to "activate the boost"
I love the Zen. Even today when I see one, I can't help but admire it. It was the first air conditioned car in my family and the first car I truly enjoyed driving and had dynamics, after driving an Omni for years. Such a fantastic little car.
The OG Jellybean design still holds up so well today! When MS launched the limited edition Carbon and Steel series, it was the stuff of dreams for a teenager who aspired to drive around in one with his imaginary cool mates when he entered college life! But of course, with an education loan and love of two wheels overpowering, this remained a dream. Wish we had one such car in the Indian Market right now, sigh!
I have 99 zen vx Miami gold.. I don't agree on the carb part it starts every morning and in cold winters too with 1 crank.. 😁 😜 Part wise may be diffucult to find.. But 3 years back i repacked my carb with all parts available.. And recently changed all suspension parts, steering column and drive shafts.. Its so popular that most of OEM Parts are still available at least at my place.
My cousin brother had this car, it is nostalgic to drive this car. But that car has one more out of the world thing, a poineer mp3 player with dolphin screen 😘😍
I had a 1998 Zen for up until 2021. I did buy 2 other cars in 2014 and 2021 both Hyundai's. But Zen is the car I grew into and learnt to drive on. And mine was a golden coloured one. My father took it and me all across India north south east and west! Sadly I had to give her up in 2021. But Zen will always be there in my heart.
My Father bought a preowned Zen LX 2002 , 20 Years ago as his first car ! I learned driving on this very car and till date i enjoy driving it. The car is so good that we haven't upgraded to a new car as i am still looking for a car that would put a big smile on my face, every time I drive it. I hate MS for using the ZEN moniker for Estillo and discontinuing the mighty Zen. I loved Polo but VW pulled a plug on it, I hate VW for this. I hate how Auto industry is producing Digital cars with No soul :(
Brilliant nimble car, the ZEN. Now all we see are big ass SUVs and wannabe SUVs type vehicles gobbling up space on the road adding to city traffic woes. I hope Maruti brings the ZEN back - simple, efficient and practical car for the city, that's also affordable.
4:59 Zen did not get power steering till euro 2 was launched with mpfi 16 valve engine. all euro 1 cars had cat con and needed unleaded fuel which was put on as sticker, green color, on fuel lid with 'greenwheels' written on it.. even the Premier Padmini S1 which was launched in 93 too.
i still have a cobalt blue 2002 zen vx petrol. it really runs in the best condition. its my uncles car he kept it in an immaculate condition and now we use it and i am glad of sitting in one legendary car. my perspective changed on old cars once i experienced the zen.
We used to have a 1999 Zen VX 4-door, and so many memories with it. Sold it off in 2020, in an exchange with DZire VXi. Aah, I wish I could've kept it.
We had Zen MH410 MODEL 1995 model. We drove that till 2020 and drove that around 6 lakh KM, engine never overhauled. Sadly lost it due to sh**y Delhi 15 yrs rule. Nothing close to it I have ever driven.
Currently have 2005 ZEN. Started driving a year ago. It's my dad's car. I just don't know how I'll keep it forever with the scrapping and 15 year non sense from the govt. It's at 70k kms. almost. Do they really think 70k km. car is old and polluting.
This is content ! I love you cyrus ❤ and im definitely not alone ❤❤ My dad always wanted to buy the zen, we had the 800(air conditioned) back then. So what he did, he got some black plastics installed under the door handles so it resembles the zen. ❤ then we finally got one 😊
Big fan of the Zen. Yes absolutely bang on when you said that MS just didn’t understand the value of the Zen and simply killed it unceremoniously and replaced it with one of the most hideous Estilo which never deserved the Zen badge to start with. Still waiting for the spiritual successor of Zen to land at the Indian shores. Will be the first one to pick it up..
I believe Santro Xing was the first one with Power Steering. Shahrukh Khan used to come in advertisements marketing it as "Makkhan Steering". Correct me wrong.
Oh my god. Brought back so many memories of me and my father travelling like crazy in ZEN. Gj 06 AA 887 - the car that sowed the seed of "travel by road" for me. I still remember my crazy trip from Vadodara (Gujarat) to kanyakumari - travelling through many awesome terrains, hot, humid, rainy weather. That 2 week journey to and fro 😢. Since he's no more, how i wish I could show him this video. You, cyrus sir - surely made my otherwise routine day, so awesome and filled with tears of joy. Thank you so much for this video. 🍻
The Steel and the Carbon Zen really Wow!! . They’re like hen’s teeth and its been a long time since I last saw either one of them. Would also love to see a video on the first generation Baleno 'the sedan and the estate model’ .
I appreciate your efforts in doing something on lines of Jason Camissa hosted Icons series at Hagerty media, but here I found too much noise and less substance. This was all haywire. I love Zen and it is the very first car I owned, it is pure nostalgia to me.
For the entire time I was waiting for a glims of Zen Classic, which was the most beautiful Zen of all time. @PowerDrift why didn't you feature it in the video?
