If there is one thing that hits me like when Patrick Ewing missed that layup or when Charles Smith was denied at the rim is "I wish I was starting all over again." Man this is going to hurt a real long time. Makes me not want to watch basketball anymore...So many will not know what they have missed in life. I think the generation of listeners to Marv Albert have something that cannot be described. You do not know how much I wish I could give some of the great childhoods we used to have in our country. Marv Albert did as much for our country as so many others...who will replace the Americans who are leaving us...

To all the people who say Mike Breen or Kevin Harlan are better, you are probably not wrong. However, Marv Albert will always be the GOAT. He was the commentator who helped grow basketball into what it is today by popularizing nationally televised games with his voice (for over 55 years!). As we can all agree, greatest doesn’t necessarily mean just the best: it’s also about impact. And if you ask me, Marv Albert impacted the game of basketball like no other. Hats off to the legend. OH! A SPECTACULAR MOVE, BY MICHAEL JORDAN! The GOAT of NBA broadcasting commentary, maybe in all of sport's broadcasting. This was the voice I grew up with during the 90's NBA era. His voice was a common soundtrack in my home. I watched basketball, my sister watched basketball and my dad watched basketball. We watched every Knicks game during the Pat Riley and Jeff Van Gundy eras, with Ewing and Starks, Anthony Mason, Charles Oakley, Allan Houston, Lattrell Sprewell, Derek Harper, and many more. And we watched the bulls every chance we could as well. Fortunately, we still have Mike Breen these days, who sorta rose up as the best in the business once Marv started getting older and not doing as many games and Mike took over for all the Knicks games. Another legendary commentator.
