some people were saying well if you combine that with other Phoenix figures you can make the perfect figure, Like no, That's not the point, If I have to combine figures to make a good figure then it wasn't a good figure to begin with
That's the benefit of living in a small city or town I guess. There's no way we can get that deal in NYC where you get like 20 items in stock and they are sold out immediately when hundreds of thousands out of 8 million people are after it.
You're supposed to force the whole foot inside that hole, to the point the sole is touching flat on the structure. The other foot is supposed to be wrapped around one of the flames on that side. But still, I agree with this needing a few pegs to connect them.
Yep.....that's the proper way to set her on the stand. Also. it took me awhile to figure out how to stop her from leaning to HER right until I wrapped her right foot on one of those stringy flame things.
Hasbro gave us female figures with half the articulation of males for so long that now they’re making female figures with standard articulation and people couldn’t be happier. Even though it all still sucks lol
The faces killed it for me. They look nothing like a generic Phoenix, and even less from Byrne's work. This looks like someone wanted to make an X3 Famke Janssen Dark Phoenix with hints of comic exaggeration yet begrudgingly got pidgeonholed into a standard Phoenix.
The thing is if you look at the comic the chest symbol isn't supposed to be gold. Only Jeans arms and leggings are gold in the comics, the phoenix symbol on the chest is actually straight yellow.
They never do straight yellow, they always opt for gold unless the base color is a lighter color. I think it has something to do with the fact that to get a good yellow you need to do several passes, which knowing how cheap Hasbro is they wont even pay the extra penny for a couple extra layers of paint. The new Ms Marvel/Warbird is also a good example, her lighting bolt is yellow, but they made it gold becasue it's easier to paint over the black costume
Love her! That Phoenix Force entity is a must for Jean Phoenix fans. Don’t hate the faces not gonna lie, its not perfect but like it especially the Fired up one. Got mine for 34 🎉
These are the worst faces since the Invisible Woman fiasco. When they make a new Jean, they might give us extra heads to make up for it like they did with the Dark Phoenix 2 pack.
@@AnthonysCustoms it does hold her above the ankle! I have mine sitting on my shelf lunging forward with my other flying characters and she hasn't moved an inch lol. But this does introduce a new issue of its actually hard to get her foot out of the stand after. Though marvel legends are kinda tonka toys so it probably wouldn't do any damage.
Same older tired bitching complaints.🙄🤦♂️ I put the the flared out hair head on the retro Dark Phoenix body. I think the dark Phoenix looks better on the base. And that head is meant to be the Dark Phoenix so she looks evil. And the smiling head looks good I'm buying that on another body. The foot goes farther in the hole so it does balance and you can even put the other foot in the hole just the top of the foot to lock it in. It makes it more stable so it doesn't move, just have to fiddle with it done to get the position you want. And when you put the foot down in the hole her head comes up to the metal in of the Phenix chest or the neck so shes not cover the entire bird, you just pose it in a way to make it look like a bad figure and your seals clap back at you , must make the Hasbro figure look bad 🙄🤦♂️ I know you know how to pose you just won't do it cause of you do you'll see it's not a bad figure. And yes the Phenix is just a base not another figure it's meant to sit there and hold up the figure. And yes it's an effective peace and it's big so i think the price is fair.🤷♂️ There is some art work the shows the wing tips do look like feathers but in this interpretation it looks like feathers and I'm ok with it. Also you put LED lights in the base or in front of a window it looks really good. Again I think your reviews are shitting on Hasbro. You pose the figure in a shitty way to make it look like a shitty figure.🙄🤦♂️🤦♂️
@@maxdot93 In classic Anthony fashion, he barely even attempted to pose the thing. I have her as well and she fits fine on the stand after a little fanangaling.
I don't dislike the realistic style for the face they used this time but I very much prefer when they try to stick to replicate the art style of the particular comic book run they are referencing. For example, with Astonishing X-men Wolverine and even Emma Frost you can tell they at least tried to take inspiration from John Cassaday's art but this one I'm not sure if they tried to make her look like the actress from the older X-men movies or what.
Hasbro is the only company that can give a figure basic articulation and people still love it. If they ever learn ball pegs I might say their articulate is ok and that’s a start.
I'm not a fan of the painted lines. I'd maybe consider it with sculpted boots and gloves, particularly if they kept the Moonstone/Rogue proportions. This new body is pretty meh. Why don't they just use the double ball peg for the waist like they do with literally every GI Joe Classified female figure? I'd buy this for maybe $20 just for the stand and sell the figure because the figure stinks. I really liked the giant beehive hairdo that they gave Elektra on that 3-pack- and the MCU What If? Scarlet Witch ghosty hair- that would be pretty neat for a magical floating figure. I'd like more of that.
QOTD: Another form of Hasbro greed - charge more for a product because it comes with a power-set accessory. Wow what a long strange trip it has been since accessories were part of the package. As a self-described expert on certain female anatomy parts, I can claim that the upper region of this product's chest looks like one hell of a bad breast enhancement operation. Thanks for your review on this one Anthony. QOTD Part deux - the lighter green is much more preferred.
For 35 bucks I got the three pack of Vipers with the Officer from the Classified Series which came with 3 Figures, 5 Rifles, 3 Handguns, and multiple muzzle flashes.... I just had to say it.
If you got that from Amazon it was originally $75.00 and they have been trying to get rid of their over stock for going on 2 years now. But it didn't retail for $35.00 on launch.
The dark green does seem extra off. It's just not appealing as a costume color, even without considering the source material. At this point I'm just buying ML knowing I'll be overpaying and picking and choosing.
The most basic female superhero body with little to no sculpt to make her stand out among the other basic female superhero bodies still can’t do a full-on split or bend forward. Either the ML team is either incompetent or forced to use anything or everything that is outdated. The Phoenix stand looks great… might as well buy a statue if I wanted this version of Jean Grey.
I snagged mine by getting the last one from one of the many Target stores in my area. Had a coupon to use on her, it was worth the trip and definitely beats the god-awful price on Amazon ($48-$52). For $34.99, you're basically paying more for a big hunk of orange/red plastic. I once saw the TRU Phoenix/Cyclops two-pack years ago at a TRU and since I wasn't into hardcore collecting back then, I passed on it.
I can't believe people call this the "super articulated" type of body when there's nothing special about it and the range is still limited in some places. Hasbro are gaslighting experts lol
the toybiz phoenix head and hair looks infinitly better than this ai garbage. it was sculpted and painted by real people and that shows character and soul in a figure. and same goes for the displaystand the toybiz came with.
The Mafex sculpt looks better. The hips looks more feminine and real? But the stand looks nice. It would be great if it could light up with translucent plastic that will glow. It is definitely on the small side and totally agree it should have the hole in the back to peg her to the stand to make her fly.

I got the bird for about $25 on ebay ,thats all i wanted i had the retro phoenix already. But i feel i should have got the marvel select bird which is bigger the legends is almost too small for her to ride .
Q of the Day 1: I didn’t care for bases when they came with the early Toy Biz figures at no additional charge, so I’m certainly not interested in paying double for one. Q of the Day 2: The Mafex colors are far more (comic) accurate. I generally like this latest iteration of Hasbro digital face printing, but I’m with you on this one. These head sculpts look creepy. This one is a pass. Honestly, I’m fine with the Juggernaut BAF Phoenix with the wild hair/normal eyes head from the Dark Phoenix/Cyclops two pack. I do have the Mafex version, but that one will probably end up on eBay.
I almost got this for $35 at Target. The app said they had 4 at my local Target for $35 so i went almost immediately. Unfortunately the app lied and they didn't have any in stock. And I'm absolutely not paying $50 for this. So the hunt continues.

Thats the main reason i dont buy anything at target .Its never there
It's a masterpiece compared to the Juggernaut BAF one. Not willing to spend $100 for Mafex. So I'm stuck with this one. The stand is awesome figure is okay. So yeah.
I picked this up over the weekend, and it was $50 at a local comic shop. I'd have been much happier without the base for $24.99 (or less!). The base is nice, $30 for the figure and the base would have been ideal for me.
I bought the ML just to use the phoenix effects base with the Mafex. I hate the swirly gold plastic ML used, I don't care for the faces, and the color green they chose frustrates me. I don't think the Mafex is perfect, but she's a much better figure overall and looks better in my display. It's ridiculous that I had to buy both to create my perfect display, though. I'm lucky that I managed to snag the ML from BBTS when they accidentally listed her for a lower price at first.
Not a good figure at all. Sure there’s a cool Phoenix stand but that’s it. She looks weird in the face and the body proportions are wonky. Mafex clears IMO only thing needed to make the Mafex go from a good release to and excellent one would be some flame effects.
Got this at Target when they put it out for $35 and had some coupons to bring the price down more. I can handle the issues at that price. Hoping the Mafex one goes on sale to combine the two in the future.
Got mine for 25 dollars and I'm fine with it. Should have at least had sculpted boot tops like Warbird. Glove tops would have been good, too. For mych more than I spent, I probably would only be getting it for the base, and it wouldn't be worth it.
i like your videos with the deep insight you put into the articulation and anatomy, but sometimes it looks as if your not even trying just to say something is bad, for example: the butterfly joints on this gal go all the way forward and back, you just have to try using a lil bit more strength
I pushed them as far as they go naturally. If you have to force it, it's not designed correctly. My job isn't to try to make up for crappy design to help people cope with bad purchases.
@@AnthonysCustoms I genuinely like it. I really like the aesthetic and I greatly prefer it to just outright trying to remake comic art. Same situation with Star Wars Black Series: I love seeing that unified pseudo-realistic aesthetic.
@@juansanchez209 It works for Black Series when they do movie figures based on real actors, but it looks awful when they do this with comic/cartoon characters. This particular Phoenix looks like some woman in her fifties.
@@magicmirror8627 We’ll have to agree to disagree.I think Mafex is a good example of figures sticking to the comic art, and I often find those heads to be very underwhelming because the sculpts are too soft and the paint is too simplistic
Straight on, i prefer the ML silhouette, but yeah the details and from the side, the boobages are noticeably wonky. I dont know what the issue with the face is, i dont need all my female figure having soft delicate cheesecake features but something with this is wrong. But I dont like either figure faces. I wonder if a headswap from Dark phoenix will do it but I wish we got some gold paint on the boots and gloves. I dont know what price point this is worth. I saw a listing for $35 so maybe thats a gold start.
This was the last Marvel legend I brought. Since then I have been questioning what I spend my money on. There is no current plan to get another legend at this time. So that's my saying I agree with your whole video. Since then I need getting a few anime here and there. I wanna save my money and get the one-piece S.H figures I want. Though it seems S.H is starting to do a little better with that one-piece line. Though my Sangi is fine. Luffy is decent. I want the new classic-looking one. Hoping Nami will be really good. I'm waiting for Jada Cammy and Dee jay. And I'm interested in Storm collectables new lower-price Streetfighter alpha line. I'm unsure about Classified just because of my issues with Hasbro. Oh I tried Jazzwares Total Anime. I got Deku and Chainsawman. They are okay but need some improvement.
Well IMO, I would rather have this or the waist swivel (from Hasbro), becuase you said it yourself; Hasbro can't make a good ball peg that works. I'm sure if they used it in the waist, it wouldn't work, just like the neck.
And to think people were bashing the Mafex one over this. Either people really want to justify their purchases or they really don't know what they buy. I really can't understand.
Figure is only 'good' because the previous one was crap! I actually paid a lot of money for the old one on eBay and it was the second most expensive Marvel Legends I ever bought and the second biggest disappointment - the old Spiral being the first and most disappointing figure I ever bought and the most expensive ML I ever paid for! Only to have newer ones a couple years later 🙄 About the stand: it is pretty cool but as pointed it could be better (the feathers should be more flame-y). Still very cool and probably the selling point of this figure. About the price hike: it's stupid and I agree 100% - will wait till it is on discount to consider buying one. Heck I might buy 2 for the price of 1 and use the other stand for my custom Rachel Phoenix. Will do similar with Ghost Rider and wait till it's on discount to get mine specially since I already made my custom and only want the bike. Still about the price hike: let's keep in mind Hasbro is not the only one to do this though. Remember the Mortal Kombat Liu Kang with the dragon? Now THAT was a rip-off 😅 (Not excusing Hasbro at all! Just pointing out a fact is all 🙂)
Yeah but not as accessible. I got out of Joe's because it was just too hard to get or you had to pay out the a** to get a figure. I never was able to get the original Target exclusive Cobra Island Viper but what made me get out of thr line is I was never able to get the Serpentor and Chariot EVERY time it came up it was sold out. All Hasbro had to do was put it up for pre-order for a limited time and let everyone who wanted one order one. Marvel Legends doesn't seem to play as much games or not nearly as much.
@@AnthonysCustoms I think it would look really cool personally, I've seen a few different Phoenix statues that pull it off pretty well. To each their own though 🙂
Doesnt the face suppose to look angry and possessed when she is the Phoenix? Pretty no but stern and ruthless looking expressions on ine head and possessed on the other seems accurate. Im watching the original X men Phoenix seeies and she isnt suppose to be "Pretty" but a unstoppable force or power. So wouldnt this facial expressions(s) be correct? Im not into Marvel Lenends much so Im looking at this as a causal observer.
Oof! Man! I regret the fifty bucks this thing cost me. The base is not necessary or worth it. It looks nice but I'd rather just have the figure as a standard release. Did we REALLY need head articulation on the bird? As for the Jean figure, this new female body is nice. The faces on both heads are terrible. Why does Hasbro struggle so much with pretty girls? This isn't as bad as that Sue Storm from a couple of years ago but it's close. Jean is supposed to be a very pretty young woman. This face looks masculine and matronly.
It's unfortunate you think. Why would I dislike a whole line? That makes no sense. I dislike when they make bad figures. I want the line to be good. Why would I care if it's good if I didn't care for the line in general?
Marvel legends are cheap. They feel cheap. They look horrendous. The quality is dogshit. They’re overpriced. If you’ve ever owned a single import figure whether it be Figma, SHF, Mafex or Mezco you’d never want to buy a marvel legend again.
Okay figure, but the colors are very drab, the hair looks kind of ratty, and the heads look like Kathy Griffin (IMO). They could have done better on the heads.
