@@spartanwarrior2207 he kind of does, playing the remastered rn and his face just looks a bit more realistic. I always found something off putting about the old face tho so it might be a bias
The most offensive thing to me about the face swap is they made us CRY with the original. This had some of the most gut-wrenching moments I've ever experienced in a video game. You can't just face-swap a character we built those strong, visceral memories with and expect your players to be okay with it.
Never played this game when it came out. Really wanted to but didn't own a playstation. (F sony and their spider-man monopoly) Just now beat it on PC. I can say that the story beats and dramatic moments hit just as hard. I personally much prefer the look of the remastered face after seeing the original.
@@RedShirtGuy96 basically whatever people spend more time with they grow the attachment. I never got far in the PS4 version but just beat it on PC recently and yeah, I'm attached to the Tom Holland lookalike more.
Damn this hits realizing I was probably 20 when it came out I can’t remember but I am 25 now and I will probably be 28 playing some next big game when it launches and feeling young again with nostalgia
I think that some of the lighting looks better in the PS4 version actually. The colors look a lot more similar to an actual city I would be walking through
If I remember correctly some people said that his character model looked to old for his voice so they changed it (but I’m not entirely sure so what I said could be complete bull crap)
I don't know why every time I see Peter Parker on PS4 crying I feel it too, but after Remastered I don't really feel it anymore, it just feels like watching a drama
Ps4 Peter actually looks like he’s been poorly managing his work life balance for the past 8 years while ps5 Peter looks like he just started being Spider-Man
I’m not 100% sure, but isn’t he also supposed to be an adult now in this game? The young ness in his face makes him not look so adultish, and apparently they did that so that it looks more like Tom Holland, but they don’t even have Tom Holland as the voice actor which makes no sense.
@@brodylowe5443 He's 23 so still fairly young. I wouldn't mind the face so much had it been there from the beginning but that's not the case, what we got is an older, more tired, more stressed, poorly groomed Peter, and that works really well in the context of the story. The new face is... adequate, but it is a loss when comparing it to what came before.
I know the differences hang primarily on the different rendering techniques of the original using baked lighting maps and the remastered relying on it's Raytracing engine, but the PS4 versions' baked lighting maps are kinda winning a little bit in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for Raytracing, but I wonder if there's something to be said about the balance between the two methods?
thing is with baked lighting is that it's more work for the developers. Although RTX is being spun for the consumer as something that'll make your game look amazing, the difference between RTX and rasterization is indistinguishable in most AAA titles. The real reason raytracing is nice is because it makes it easier on the developers.
I think it's more a case that the original lighitng was first designed with baked lighting in mind, but when they decided to use Raytracing instead, they didn't know how to reproduce the same result due to a lack of experience. Raytracing is still pretty new, afterall, while baked lighting has been the industry standard since the late 90s.
Look at the guys face at 3:38....wtf happened there? It looks like actual pudding on the PS5, on the PS4 Pro his face has depth, wrinkles, shows emotion. So bizarre. The lighting is also way more natural on the PS4 Pro and the contrast and colors look better, its way too over saturated on the PS5.
I think they changed Peter bc they wanted him to look more like holland and it's not a bad design but he looks younger and the old one is really good with more emotion. I also dont like the idea of matching him with mcu's actors. I have to admit though, the lighting in PS4 sometimes makes the people look lifeless.
Could you imagine Insomniac changing Peter's face again but to a new model in the next game? As if they were saying "you didn't like the change, huh? Let's do another one!" And then, each game related to the franchise has a new Peter face model They could meme the hell out of the situation. Obviously not gonna happen, but sounds funny to me
Do people not understand that they didn’t change the face just to please fans. They did it for reasons that they HAVNT disclosed yet. For gameplay or business related issues
@@angelpena7746 How the hell it wasn't possible to copy, already finished face model they paid for, to not even a different but the same game that is remastered? It doesn't make sense.
interesting. I think the exact opposite! I was about to say how it looks like they added better expression and facial animations. Tbh, I really like the new face, of course it takes some time to get used to but I feel like it fits him more
Old PS4 Peter actually looked like he had been spider-man'ing for 8 Years as per the story. But now he looks like he's been doing it for 8 months; about the same amount of time MCU Peter had been Spider-man'ing.
I think if they just made ps5 Peter’s eyes look a bit more “tired” and added laugh lines to his face to make him look a bit older, people wouldn’t be so jarred by the difference. PS5 Peter looks 10 years younger than PS4 and it makes it hard to believe that he’s a seasoned Spidey and wise enough to mentor Miles.
@Daniel Rivas like I said before, I like the old one better and u can't change my mind, idc if he looks "44" cause that's the point why I like him, it gives him that mature look that fits a mentor
@@tulioarturoconception3241 PS4 is better bc of the face. There was NO POINT to remastering the game whatsoever because PS5 plays the PS4 version...not sure why they chose to do it.
@@midnightstrike3625 Even though it looks weird in videos and pictures, the face starts to grow on you and you start to see how it fits the voice more. Most people think the new face is bad because they are so used to the old face.
Both versions look really good! I just got the remastered version, i never played the first game yet, only Miles. Obviously the new face is what was different, but i wanted to see what was really different here and this is the perfect side by side comparison video. Basically the color is more vibrant, the ps4 version is darker, especially the shadows. I was thinking of getting the original, but i decided to go with a cheaper Miles ultimate edition digital, despite already having Miles ps4 disc.
PS5: less emotion on Peter's face, more realistic lighting, and faster load times. PS4: way more emotion on Peter's face, less realistic lighting, and longer load times Honestly though wish they kept the peter parker from the ps4 version
@@SpeedingDemon-qy4xi no, ps4 is modeled after a different face model, and was not modelled to look like Yuri Lowenthal. I'm pretty sure the original Peter was modelled to look like John Bubniak
He doesnt look 15. A lot of young adult men looked like that. Doesnt help that they usually have young adults play teens. But yeah he looks fine. If anything he looks to old to be 15 to me.
It took me a year to forget the old peters face, but now that I did I get this video in the recomandations lol. And now I'm like "why did they change it?!"
Yeah, well, Peter's PS4 face looks like a dilapidated cross-breed between Andrew Garfield and Willem Dafoe. He looks like he just shot up heroin at a halfway house, or went a year without any sun or a decent haircut.
@@ultimateslinger9857 Yes, the face was changed already in the remaster and in the Miles Morales game. Changing back again is unlikely (although I want it). Probably they gonna stick to this face. The best we can hope is if they can at least made the new face more similar to the old face.
Exactly, like what they did with miles and Rebecca in ac3, totally fucked up their character models to "make it look closer to the voice actor" while Shaun looks the fucking same as in previous games just with better graphics, which makes no sense. Is it really that hard to upgrade the graphics but make the faces look the same? Gow4 did it with kratos perfectly. His facial features are the same just with the full beard and a little bit of aging added to it, his nose and face is genuinely the same as In the previous games, they didn't make him look like a completely different person. I don't know why games feel the need to do that. It's like killing off a character you fell in love with when they make them look like a completely different person.
some things i noticed: -fisk goon has FISK on his vest and a purple shirt instead of a black one like in the PS4 version -the PS4 and PS5 helicopters have differennt serial numbers
@Eddy that's what they said in their tweet when the changed was first announced That reason also makes no sense because why not just mocap yuri himself
Watching this back, the people and lighting looks nicer, but some of the surfaces look too nice, just too clean for it to be realistic. Like when the fuel truck comes in, they kept the dents but made the rest of it look like it had been freshly polished. The problem with trying to make things look nice is that most cities and dingy and miserable.
I got used to it but still Looks super young like yes he is young but he also has been doing this for a long time and trying to manage a work life balance on top of being a super hero. At least make him more aged and less static.
If they wanted to make him look younger they could’ve just literally made him look younger, like take away the slight wrinkles or whatever but still the same, they didn’t have to change his whole look
First play through was w Spider-Man remastered and I’ll say the colour pallet looks more NYC on the PS4. Loved the shit outta this game. Hated the snow in MM
