I really hope we get to see Shang-Chi and Spider-Man together on screen in a movie or series where Shang-Chi teaches Peter Parker his fighting style, The Way of the Spider, which I would love to see in the near future

Tony Leung as Xu Wenwu was the most charismatic MCU "villain" yet. He had such an amazing warm but also melancholy presence that made it easy to relate to him. Beautiful character arc too.

Considering the San Francisco setting, I'm just surprised they didn't bring up anything with Ant Man, since he's based there, and has been on TV when he became Giant Man in the 2nd film

When I saw Shang-Chi & Katy on the screen, it just reminded me of Jaby & Achara.

Little tidbit that Eric missed (not his fault, though, you have to be a kung fu film geek to know that) : Yuen Wah (not Ma) sure had a very long career in HK, being the back flip man (in that Shot with Bruce Lee flipping kick, it was actually Yuen Wah who acted as stunt double), and went on to become a legend on his own in HK. Way later on, in 2004, kinda retired for a decade already and likely forgotten, someone came and knocked on his door to offer him the role of a landlord. That someone who knocked to his door was his fan and old friend Stephen Chow, and the movie was Kung Fu Hustle ! The movie became such a smash hit in HK, China and Taiwan, and in the rest of the chinese speaking world, that it kickstarted the revival of Yuen Wah's career, who went on to become once again a pretty active actor in KungFu movies. So seeing him in the movie, I was screaming internally "YUEN FRIKKIN WAH IN A MCU MOVIE !!!" Which is quite meta, since we've seen a poster of KungFu hustle in Shang Chi's room at the beginning, so when the character of Guan Bo appeared, I half expected Shang Chi to recognize him and start fanboying, like "wait... what ? The landlord ? What are you doing here ?" Also, given his experience and his glorious career in the HK cinema, it was pretty funny to see Tony Leung, also a legend on his own, but younger than Yuen Wah in real life, calling him : "Show some respect, little boy ! I've lived more years than you've eaten rice in your life !" With Tony Leung and Michelle Yeoh, he's the 3rd legendary HK kungfu and Wuxia actors-gods to have worked on Shang Chi, like a trinity of boddhisatvas descending in a ray of light from the Heavens of the Kungfu cinema, to lend their legendary power to Destin, Simu, Meng'Er, Brad Allen, Andy Le, and all the first timers people who fought so hard to make this true underdog movie (first asian superhero movie of the MCU, an unknown character to the big audience, no prior appearances whatsoever (last character I recall doing that was Ant-Man), unknown director, unknown lead actor, shot during the pandemic, screened during the pandemic) take off the ground and have it smash all the expectations in delivering a god tier movie !

Shang also had a THE WARRIORS poster in his room too. That’s the first thing I noticed in the film it was awesome. The warriors is one of my favorite films and it’s cool to see them have it connect with Shang chi it’d be cool to see him in that style of film have to get to a certain part of town by this time or sunrise to fight this clan

Actually, for the part where Razor Fist had Shang-Chi’s pendant, he tore the pendant off of Shang-Chi’s neck right before the bus really got split in half. So, when Razor Fist firstly sliced the bus while Shang-Chi tried to avoid it and went out from the bus and then kicked the other three’s asses, he still got his pendant on his neck.

Yeah, New Rockstars have always used bootleg photos from movies in every movie breakdown they did during said movie's opening weekend. It was a lot easier when you could grab photos from Black Widow on Disney+, or GvK and Suicide Squad on HBO max

its interesting about the entire dojo thing regardless of how it is pronounced in different east Asian languages, its always sharing a similar sound/ tone between them I think it showing how the linguistic imperialism of the ancient Chinese language dominating the region just like the Latin in Europe back in the day And after centuries-old of regional development and adaptation become the major East Asian languages we got today like modern Chinese, Cantonese, Japanese and Korean

I think, it's because a lot of the movie was supernatural in origin something that's being scraped off a lot new media back there.

I agree with Jaby on Macau building rush hour type fight scene. It felt slower to me and isn't on the par with other fight sequences in the film.

The reason why the fight look very bad is because the director wanted the Chinese guy to look strong because it's superhero movie while in Jackie Chan movie the character sometimes look vulnerable and can feel the pain which makes him a human. That's the problem with the fight, he didn't bother to sell move like a normal human would.

I think one of the reason that this movie is not passed because of Shang Chi's sister: YOU CAN'T MAKE A WOMAN A LEADER! if all people who make the movie are not 100% chinese. And don't forget that they are sexist though.

To be honest, I disliked the use of theater screen shots. Like to you for not liking it as well. And my dislike and disrespect to Rockstars. They shouldn't take shots and shouldn't encourage such behavior. Many other reviewers found creative ways to talk about the movie.

Watching the bootleg movie not as to justify that it's right or wrong, and it's obviously wrong of course, but some countries don't really have opened theaters as of this moment especially during the pandemic. And some who are avid theater going fans, who really want to experience the movie the best way possible, who don't have the luxury of having their theaters opened unlike some countries now who actually do like the US, and given the accidents of viewing spoilers on social media thus ruining the entire movie for them, would immediately just resort to the bootleg anyways. Even if it's wrong to them, I can't really blame them for watching those copies because they just want to watch the film as early as they can and avoid spoilers on the net. Even some countries don't have Disney+ and that's another thing. The pandemic is seriously ruining the movie theater experience to some fans who would actually love to pay tickets to see movies like these, Marvel or otherwise, but given the situation, it is what it is. Also, to that lady in the theater Achara mentioned, you are lucky that you even get to watch this movie at all, and you're wasting it.

Reg bootlegging,I understand where you're coming from, but not everyone can afford to go to a cinema hall and watch a film in 3D/IMAX. considering that it's more important to see the film for ppl rather than where they see it, bootlegging makes sense and it is ok too.

Omg Jaby, we both share the same sentiments - I too don't enjoy Ronny Chieng, not because of his past roles but the fact he was enforcing identity politics on his so called stand up comedy acts is so not funny and pretty much a turn off. He's the least irritating on this show ngl
