one idea i had was a tony stark legendary card with variant iron man equipment cards. Stark's ability could be turning the iron man equipment cards into creatures with their strength and toughness being the attribute bonus they would give
My opinion is, as long as it passes the vibe test, sets are fine, I know "vibe test" requires some explanation, which is if it feels like it could be an MTG plane, for example, the lord of the rings set passes with flying colors, was it a bit weird, yes. Did it stick to the medieval fantasy magic esque vibe, yes. So i works. Then it comes to assassins creed. I think some of those cards work, as a lot of them are set in history that is close enough. Although some tech seems a bit too modern. And then you have fallout
Appreciate your comment. And I dig your Phyrexian symbol user pic. yeah, all about the vibes. AC is just weird, there are less than 20 green cards in the set, AC has no characters or concept that deal in druid magic or shamanism. Fallout release was too limited, should have gotten more than commander decks and collector boosters
@@BensonMTGizzet makes a lot of sense for spidey. Color identity wise, of course it matches his costume. But the recent mcu iteration very much matches this playstyle. Izzet is spell slinging, and he is web slinging. I can imagine a bunch of little web gadgets and technical things spidey uses to get the edge.
MF DOOM was a huge Doctor Doom fan. Marvel recently paid tribute to him in the last doctor doom comic. They used his lyric "Livin' off borrowed time, the clock tick faster". Btw, Doomsday was one of the his most famous song. DOOM was legit and i can't wait to see marvel's doom as a card 😊
im guessing its space out all the different characters, or they are all getting jamed into one main set and we will get jumpstart, holiday edition, regular edition bundle, gift bundle, etc like we saw with LOTR.
I hope they dont do the one ring shit again. As a marvelfan i want to have all cards. Not for example every infinitystone exists only 1 time and some random millionair puts them in his fault so nobody will ever be able to get them.
That’s a fair criticism. Serialized cards are a norm going forward but the 1 of 1 serial maybe they will do again for something like the infinity gauntlet. But the good thing is they still printed the non special versions available to anyone
Players are "apathetic" because let's be honest here. Disney is going to make the cost for a single booster box more than a collectors box of any Modern Set. Was talking to my LGS guy before Fallout, and even he said the IP is gonna be expensive. Marvel just might kill MtG the way they've killed their own product. Makes sense though, Hasbro is flooding the market with cardboard no one cares about. And Marvel is filling the market with cardboard characters no one cares about. A match made in Heaven really
Reasonable take and perspective. I’m annoyed at the cost of Fallout, only in commander decks and collector boosters. Marvel x MTG they will want to be more obtainable because it bring it a lot of young players, especially with something like jumpstart packs coming back
@BensonMTG I didn't mind the price for Fallout. Granted, I was splitting the set with my brother and his wife. Plus, I'm a Fallout fan. The 2 decks I'm currently tweaking most have been Caesar, and Dr Li/berty Prime. I think I didn't mind Fallout as all the decks were relatively the same price. Not like nowadays where one deck craters to $35-45 (Hi Bloomburrow Raccoons), and others spike to $70+ (Hi Bloomburrow Squirrels, and Monoblack Warhammer for example. As of yesterday (7/28/24), Squirrels has the highest price tag of Bloom.) I understand Modern Decks getting pricey, I get why they did commander decks, but they didn't need to. I'm not gonna pay $120+ for an Eldrazi deck, when I could proxy an upgraded deck for $100 haha. (Yes, I don't mind proxies. My buddy had my brother and I proxy "spicier" decks so we didn't have to spend $3k haha) However, I don't think adding younger players will lower the price. If anything Marvel knows parents will buy these for the kids regardless. If anything it might make it a little more expensive. Marvel Jumpstart will probably be the price of a Collectors booster Sidenote, for Fallout I would love to see a miniset like they did for AC. There's so much lore in FO they could easily make it like a D&D Type set.
@@BensonMTG admittedly I did not. Wanted to. Just had some issues pop up after I had budgeted for the decks so. Kinda want to see if my lgs has any left
Lol, entirely possible. I thought about mentioning the overly heavy SJW ESG equity of Marvel of the years but opted to leave it, keep it positive. You aren’t wrong though.
Thanks for breaking down the Marvel crossover-to-be. You happen to nail a few ideas on the head such as legendary equipment and/or Heroic mechanic making a return. Theres a million questions to ask about it, but mine would be: What color(s) do you think Spider-Man would be and what stats/power-level would he have?
He has to have reach for one. Colors I think green red blue...he is something like a simic experimenter, and does tinker and build stuff...maybe just simic?
