I believe so, they ass would of been all on BET news. Headines: The notorious G-Unit gang lead by known rapper 50 cent "Curtis Jackson" are being sued by former decease singer Marvin Gaye's estate for robbing Mr. Gaye's music. More on this issue after these messages.
I hope so too. Look what Erick Sermon did with Marvin's "Turn on Some Music" and made "Music" out of that song. He paid $100,000 to the estate for sampling that song because he asked permission first.
Block parties, hanging beads in the doorway, shaggy carpets, oil string lamps, reefer seeds rolling down album covers, that cute girl from the 5th floor, and cool nights driving through New York...the impact of this album was part of the best times in my life. This whole damn album was incredible genius in its purest form.
Amen Shaman. Brings back a lotta memories. Sneakin' away from home and stayin' past curfew to have good slow sex at your boyfriend's house. Then gettin' a good lickin' when you got home. My boyfriend would play this and it made the sex so good I didn't care WHAT the consequences were!! (giggle!!)
The melody and chord twist that sets in at 3:25 hits you every time like a million rose petals falling from the sky caressing your skin. It is one of the most sensual and hauntingly beautiful pieces of music ever written, played, produced and sung. A true musical genius sharing his magic. ♥️

I was just 11 when this album dropped, I didn't understand it then, but, 38 years later, I FULLY appreciate this album, in ALL it's seductive, sexyness.... Thank You Mr. GAYE!
I was 6 yo when i seen my mother come home from the record store with this album, now i have the cd mostly a collectors item, but as another commenter said i did have a couple of children from this album, i tell them often, they get freaked out about it....lol.

+Ethel Stevens Love Damn right it is im a Classic Rock lover first and foremost but i do love some soul music. From where i sit Marvin Gaye was number one.
You can have your way if you decide to stay. This sh.. takes me to the moon. My nose on your waste is what you need baby. Just you and me locked up for days. They should have cloned his ass
Stevie Wonder and Marvin, Michael Jackson, the entire Philly soul crew, the amazing blues guitarists of the decade..bros and sisters..THIS is the music that will bring us all together. We need MUSIC to get us to peace.
I always thought Marvin was extremely handsome and vocally gifted. He wove a spell with his voice and music and I am a fly trapped in his sticky Webb. Trapped in the extacy of his silky voice.
Sing Marvin... Thank you for the love of music you shared with the word. You're still slaying, baby! There will never be another you. You're the best legend ever. From the heart to the heart. Much love. RIHlyP
He'd appreciate you throwing him a bone. No. Really. He and TBoy Ross, thought it was going to be TBoys record. They played it for Berry, and he assigned them to work it with Marvin, but Marvin brings a lot to the music vocally and emotionally completely "owns" it.
Honestly, this album is second to none, it's so sweet, so sensual, so seductive, ... I don't understand why the rolling stones magazine didn't include it in the 500 greatest albums of all the time list
Marvin had more depth in one finger, than the entire so-called rnb industry today!! This music wouldn't make it on radio today. We're too enamored with super thug!!!!!
acrucker Um. All so called black people are the best on our planet, and no pale skin orcs not topping us, so there are peaceful classic music alot of generations play they out here, just gotta search.
I was told that this music of back in the day is too "Depressing"...... Marvin's music is some good listening music to me.. I've been following Marvin when he started out with "Motown" and left to go to "ABC" records.....It's nothing like going out to a specific occasion and here Marvin Gaye music......January 4th, 2015......
Made this album for janice the love of this life. Must have so hard for her to be married to a man as complicated as marvin, so tortured and so beautiful 💟💟💟💟💟😢😢😢😎😎😎
Gone and left us all tragically Marvin. Your music is in my blood and bones Ride on Brother I miss you .What's going on (is still going Marv) this world sucks).Love and miss you play your tunes always. See you. when I.get there. I miss you but play your tunes always. If I should die tonight Like you God knows my Trespass. We all have to bow our knee to our Majestic Lord in the Heavens above
I love Marvin Gaye's music so much. I love all the sounds in his songs, the instruments and voices coming from the left or right side. The lyrics and his emotional voice. The sentences he secretly says, it takes some time to recognise them. It definitely brings me to another place and hearing it is a bliss.
The awesomest part of your comment is the fact that the pun here wasn’t even intended, was it? LoL! You know, the whole “50” deal and how 50 Cent sampled this track for what became a lead single with R&B artist, Joe, doing the vocals. I’ve always had mixed emotions about sampling… particularly when the songs being sampled are classics. Part of me absolutely DESPISES the fact that 95% of the younger generation hear these samples/cover , have no knowledge of the original, and credit the new artist. And even worse, most of them don’t care either way. But the other 5% of that young demographic is what prevents me from being TOTALLY against messing with classics… and it’s because that 5% DOES care about the history and origin of the music. So when they find out about samples used in current songs they like, they’re the ones who go check it out for themselves. So the samples/covers are responsible for introducing new listeners to our music. And that, my friends, is what turns a hit into a classic… then makes a classic timeless! Nothing can become timeless without new listeners. So we’ve gotta take the bitter with the sweet.
I remember when I first heard this song at about 5 or 6--it stopped me in my tracks...his voice is amazing. I have to breathe easy when I listen to this song... You know you're really the definition of MUSIC when you can sing your own 5-part harmony...MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE SINGER AND SONG OF ALL TIMES!!!!! Peace and Love Mr. Gaye
Well, you were right about the 5 part harmony. Cause he was in a doowop band before he came to Motown, and literally sang all the parts on his albums (including baritone, which he did with the group).
This is the music my mother grew up on, my Black King has me now playing it ALL THE TIME🖤👑(My name is Angel too) and I just melt everytime 😛🤫. This is REAL music the millenial gen unfortunately may not know about
This groove is super duper fly and smooth, just like the dude singing it. Marvin was that dude. There's NOBODY cooler or smoother than Marvin! Maxwell tore a page out of his book, but Marvin wrote the book.
Ivan,..hmmpf you sure got it right about Maxwell,..first time I heard "Til The Cops Come Knocking",..I was shocked beyond belief, cause, to be sure,..Maxwell is smooth now,..but the middle of that song,..its like an infusion of Marvin Gaye just showed up,..I.think I would've noticed it in his other songs,..love his smoothness,..but that song right there,..its like I was in that movie, Everything, Everywhere All At Once, and I was at faster than lightning speed transported back to the 70's, listening to Marvin on the radio in my room,..if you haven't, check it,..Godspeed, Peace ✌
So when I was in middle school I didn't understand that all these great classics were sampled in my favorite hip hop songs. Kinda let me down that my favorite artists weren't making 100% original music. As I got older I realized that their ability to blend the old with the new is what can help my generation and future ones continue to appreciate the sound that was first established. Nothing wrong with samples as long as we remember where they all come from.
I was in High school and just about to turn 16 when this song came out. I loved it then and still love it now. Listening to this song reminds me of a time when music was from the heart. When I was going to house parties with my cousins back in the day. Good good memories.
This is my favorite Marvin Gaye Album. I bought this album when I was 16 and this song stayed on repeat, although the mature lyrical content was beyond my teenage grasp at the time. Now at 34, I have a whole new appreciation and renewed love for this album that will stand the test of time.
Simone White im 16 years old ;) . I cant buy the album but ill listen to it on youtube! IDK why some taylor swift song gets 1 billion views when a diamond like this sits here only 500k. that is 2000 times the amount of views :/
