@@nowyouhearmenowyoudont5114 Yeah when they were old they got stopped but we are talking about primes . Plus Roy at middleweight was way too big, fast and skilled for Hagler . Remember Roy went up to heavyweight so Hagler would not be stronger than him. Leonard did beat hagler because he moved around hagler all night and didnt stand in front of hagler . @@stanaio8356 Ray was a welterweight fighting a middleweight and he had been inactive for years before that fight so how in the world do you expect him to mix it up with Hagler? Roy only lost when he got older we are talking about prime Roy. Hagler wouldnt be able to do much with him

Sorry, i'm not buying it, Jones would not let it get into a war, he would just box & move, & with his amazing handspeed, & movement, i dont think Hagler would be able to land clean, although he would have success, Jones, would simply be just to fast, & slippery.

@@francishughes2016 Jones was Knocked out 5x in his career! 0 for Hagler. Hagler was tenacious, He was essentially the Mini Tyson. Too powerful for Jones who was knocked out by Danny Green, Tarver, Glen Johnson and couple others. Jones Ko'd by Tarver when he was 35 and Hagler at 31 KO'd hearns when Hearns was prime at 26 with a 78" reach much longer than Jones. Hearns is in another stratosphere compared to Tarver and Hagler killed him in round 3....and Jones would beat Mini Tyson? Not a chance.

Exactly. Many foolish comments, not understanding the true nature of this game or these two guys.. As much as i like Hagler and great as he was.. And grew up a great boxing fan late 70s and through 80s - 90s. With the fab 4 etc. And having met Ray Leonard although he certainly would not remember me from 1982 at 14 yo idolizing him then.. Sugar Still one of my 2 top all time favs along with Roy.. People not understanding or comprehending how insanely phenomenal Roy was in his prime years.. Forget the later losses, Tarver etc. After he reached the summit and beat Ruiz as a heavy weight, he lost something.. Maybe something in his personal life, drive, i don't know.. Must b so hard to stay on the top so long.. Tarver would have dropped or succumbed like all the rest if he met Roy on his climb up with such skill determination & focus to climb Mt. Everest.. Roy 2 me fought like a big cat, blinding speed strength athleticism agility unmatched.. Punches precise striking came from all angles unorthodox combination no one else could ever do with such precision of accuracy with power.. And with his top conditioning he could have gone 15 as effectively.. Reading some coms calling Roy flashy? are you kidding, flashy like glitter, or jus 4 show.. Not even close.. Man so easy 2 talk when you don't understand what's really actually going on in there.. Yes he was a showman but his flashy had a purpose and kick to put you on your ass to sleep fast.. Backed it up as one of the BEST fighters to ever step in any ring any era in our human history documented or undocumented.. No one in history in my opinion could touch Roy at his best PERIOD. Ask Ray Leonard opinion of Roy.. Sugar Ray Robinson i believe would also agree.. Just watch some old Roy clips, cant touch this is right.. It's like arguing with a brick wall with some folks they keep repeating the same thing over and over again thats why I just read for the most part. They keep saying Hagler not getting KO'd like that is the only way to win a boxing match. No one touches RJJ in his prime period. You can't beat what you can't hit. And I love Hagler. His style is my favorite but RJJ was phenomenal athlete. Blazing hand speed. Can jump in and out and tag most fighters before they could do anything. Then they keep talking about his glass jaw. He touched the canvas for the first time at light heavyweight. No middle weight ever knocked him down. Hagler only fought at middleweight. Never moved up to test his abilities at higher weight class against bigger men. Who's to say his chin would have held up? RJJ didn't lose a fight (no dq) until he was 2 years older than the age Hagler retired. Prime for Prime as great as Hagler was he would not be able to defeat RJJ. I don't believe anyone could but I dont go back past the 70s so I may be wrong.

Hagler had a granite chin could switch from righty to lefty seamlessly and was a great defensive fighter he would eventually get to Jones.Jones couldn't knock out toney or Hopkins no way he knocks out hagler.

Plus he was not a setting duck ,he could slip a and duck under punches to counter , unlike fighter in Roy's day ! They both great boxers and I'm glad they came at different times. I really can't pick one but Hagler fought like a machine and Roy like a Mongoose. Two of the Best of the Best in the Boxing Game.

If you are comparing them at middleweight Roy was not exceptional .His best performance was at super middle against James Toney at middleweight l would only compare Monzon Hopkins and GGG to Marvin.

Hagler has tremendous speed, was an elite switch hitter and is very technical if jones can't keep him off. Hagler is knocking him out

Hagler was wayy past his prime and approaching the end of his career when he fought ray.. the question is prime vs prime. Smh

You seem to forgot that we are talking about both fighters when they were in there prime...Nobody from any era is touching a prime Roy Jones Jr especially not a fighter that walks straight forward and is as slow as Haglar. I like Haglar but he wouldnt stand a chance against RJJ. He would get his eyes boxed out his head by prime RJJ my man.

Hopkins tried to walk RJJ down and tie him up but RJJ reflexes, skill and speed contained him. Hopkins was bigger and just as rough as Hagler close up, with headbutts and elbows. RJJ at his peak was near untouchable. If Hagler struggled with SRL, who was smaller than RJJ, he would find it harder against a prime RJJ that hit harder and was just as quick. Also SRL was past his peak when he faced Hagler, he wasn't as disciplined and lived the high life, drugs, alcohol and women. Plus SRL was 2 divisions above his natural weight class whereas Hagler was a natural Middle. RJJ is a natural Light Heavy but due to his young age, started at Middle. Hagler was a great fighter but RJJ is a horrible match up for him.
