Some of Canelos worst performances and closest fights have been vs southpaws. Hagler was ortho and spend more time in a southpaw stance. Had power in both hands and would have Canelo fighting off his back foot. Hagler by UD
I can’t believe someone let this question fall from their lips! Not even a question bc Canelo not on that level in no possible way. He just not built like that!
I got Marvin Hagler but u old heads that say stupid stuff like canelo couldn’t handle hagler are ignorantl especially the canelo now like what makes u think Hagler would just destroy canelo Hagler lost to someone that’s nowhere near as skilled as canelo it would come down to heart n skill
No he doesn’t 🤦♂️ I think Hagler wins but canelo has a chin Hagler not putting him away I think he would outpunch him his hands are faster both have chins so it’s most likely going the distance triple g hits like a mule and canelo took his best
Hagler would beat the hell out of Canelo. First Hagler can fight out of both stances. Second Hagler absorbed Hearns best righthand so Canelo isnt going to hurt Hagler. Third Haglers throws fluid combinations from BOTH sides especially when he was younger. Fourth Hagler beat WAY better boxers then Canelo and I never once heard anyone say Marvin deserved to lose a decision unlike Canelo. Know what would have been a really fun fight? Hamsho vs Canelo. That would be a very interesting fight.
This shouldn't even be a question. 12 rounds, 15 rounds, it doesn't matter. I like Canelo Alvarez, but none of these younger fighters Canelo included, can match the work rate of Hagler. Add to that Hagler's formidable chin, athleticism, ring generalship and punching power, and it's hard to see where Canelo Alvarez enjoys any advantage. If Alvarez goes into survival mode, Hagler wins by an easy decision. If he actually tries to beat Hagler outright, Alvarez gets stopped by Hagler. Anyway you slice it, Hagler wins this one hands down.
I really like these types of videos but in some cases I realize that these boxers are carried away by their fanaticism, as in this video, Canelo has not beaten anyone at the level or close to Hagler, the same I remember in the videos from pacquiao vs other welterweight boxers everyone in this gym said that pacquiao would lose and win them all, don't take it badly I respect them but, what bad judgment some have
GGG isn't Hagler level? Leave the Nostalgia bias out of this... GGG has the most middleweight title defenses with the highest KO% in middleweight history...GGG is definitely Haglers level. Not saying GGG is better but they belong on the same level.
Canelo did nothing to GGG, He lost both fights in the eyes of anyone who has a brain. Leonard may have moved a lot but most people who look at fights objectively can see Hagler still landed more punches and won that fight. It would take Hagler 5 rounds to end Canelo
The only moments where Canelo seems beatable is when he fought Mayweather and GGG. Mayweather boxed his ear's off, granted he's still young and learning. As for GGG, i think that's the only other moments in Canelo's boxing career where he seems beatable. And GGG was slipping past his prime at the time. Marvin Hagler was just as tough as GGG, can box better, and has better stamina and pressure. The early rounds would be war and most likely even, but Hagler should take it in the late rounds. Hagler either by late round stoppage or majority decisions.
Definitely not a stoppage..SD either way..Canelo could definitely box better then Hagler ..if Canelo took all of GGGs punches (GGG has the highest KO% in middleweight history) then he could take Haglers...50/50 fight .
@@thediaz07 Canelo could not box better than hagler at all. Canelo only has better defense, greater size and more 1 punch KO power, hagler had better movement, heavier punches, a more versatile skillset, greater precision, better combination-punching, a much better jab and 5 inches of more reach.
They could clone canelo and put 4 of him in there, hagler would knock them all out! This is a true fantasy fight cos if canelo was around in the 80s he'd have about 6 losses on his record. That's if he dared to get in the ring with any of them
Hagler couldnt KO Duran, as a matter of fact it was a close fight and 15 rounder. And Duran was a natural lightweight. But I still think Hagler wins against Canelo. Not sure Canelo would be able to keep the pace Hagler puts on.
The Canelo that fought GGG in their first fight would of given Hagler fits. Alvarez also has a solid chin and would of worked Haglers body which nobody ever did. Would be a war. In a 15 rounder I feel it would of been close early however Hagler would of taken over in the second half of the fight to win a close decision.
@@icecold2154 Hagler never fought someone like Canelo. I actually think it would be close but I’d still favor Hagler just because Canelo tends to fade in the championship rounds when facing someone with relentless pressure like he did against GGG
@@J.C.117 Daniel jacobs isn’t as good at switching as hagler tho hagler could fight southpaw for an entire fight if he wanted to and still he just as effective jacobs isn’t on that level
If Mayweather can beat Canelo then Marvin can. But he would have to use a style like Mayweather which he didn't do. But imagine that a hard hitter fighting Canelo like Floyd.
Bro canelo was getting washed by amir khan, past prime GGG, and cottos average brother. Hagler doesnt have to change anything. If canelo is ducking and weight draining B- level fighters while also using drugs then Hagler will knock him out in the 9th round
@No. Body canelo is good boy but shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence with these warriors. Don't forget how Leonard's boxing IQ made Duran shit his pants in the 2nd fight.
this is really stupid, i do not see marvin hagler in this era being a boxer, guys like him would be more into the ufc world, hearns too and duran all the way, the only one i can see being a boxer is leonard, and he would be undefeated
Canelo fought the greatest fighter of all time floyd and he was just running, in my opinion Canelo could be the greatest fighter of all time, triple G beat Hagler
No disrespect, but Canelo eats Hagler up. Styles make fights. It wouldn't be easy, but I see Hagler getting countered with vicious shots like James Kirkland got hit with. Hagler would have Canelo going backwards for a while, but Canelo just has too many overall advantages.
You saying Hagler is going to get knocked out, ends this conversation and completely discredits anything else you say about boxing after that. Think about that statement for a second, Hagler knocked out.....you obviously haven't seen the shots Hagler has taken (Hearns, Mugabi) and continued to push forward with stamina/endurance that was godlike in the late rounds. He had one speed, wasn't too fast, about average, BUT it never changed the whole fight. The guy was a machine, LITERALLY.
Yes Hagler was a machine, but I see Haglers corner throwing in the towel if he ever would've fought Canelo. I'm not really a Canelo fan, but other than possibly late round stamina, Canelo has everything else over Hagler. He has faster hands, he's a better counter puncher, more power than Hagler, just as good a chin, better defense, more vicious body attack, etc...
@@cliffordhill2365 You lost me when you said Canelo has just as good a chin. Who has Canelo fought a CLOSE FIGHT with that has the resume of Hearns or Ray Leonard (don’t forget the Ray Leonard fight was a SPLIT DECISION), Canelo has NEVER fought the quality of opponents Hagler did, and not only that the best opponents he’s faced were far past their prime (mayweather, Golovkin, hell even Kovalev was on his last fight). Name me the best opponent Canelo has beaten between the age of 25-33. But there’s no point arguing here, agree to disagree, I just know a majority of the boxing community isn’t going to have “Duckelo let me get guys past their prime” Alvarez over Hager. He’s also NEVER been in a war. Do NOT compare Canelo’s chin to Hagler’s. Hagler literally had his head split open by a Hearns right hand and pushed through it face bloodied and all. Knocked Hearns out in the 3rd round. That’s when I knew he was a machine. And Hagler’s pressure NEVER stops. You aren’t going to outlast Hagler dude, only way to win is to knockout him out. We’ we seen Canelo gassed in the later rounds MULTIPLE times. You aren’t going to outbox Hagler the whole fight unless you have godlike speed, endurance, and defense like Sugar Ray and even then, Sugar Ray BARELY BY THE SKIN OF HIS TEETH, AND POLITICS (the commercials, America’s hero, the good looks, the smile, the Olympian) WAS GIFTED A SPLIT DECISION, I personally had Hagler winning the fight, that’s how close it was, but since Sugar Ray was America’s golden child they weren’t going to let Hagler win. Point is canelo beating Hagler’s is not going to happen man, the dude literally had hats that said “war” during his career. The guy was different.
@@cliffordhill2365 Canelo doesn’t even have more power and chin than an old and washed golovkin….and still was gifted a draw in the first fight….Yet you say he has more power and chin than Hagler. Why are you even responding to me dude? Have you watched boxing? As I said watch the hearns and mugabi fight, specifically round 6 of the mugabi fight. Hagler was NAILED multiple times flush I mean absolutely NAILED, and two three rounds later in round ten his speed, his endurance, his power, his pressure, was STILL THERE. As I said the guy is literally a machine! Canelo has his mouth open in rounds 9-12. Watch round 9-12 of canelo vs golovkin 1 and 2. He literally looks the same as mugabi did against Hagler. Gassed, mouth open, and back peddling.
C'mon now hagler wouldnt way to outdated no 80s fighter beats one In 00s canelo fought people way more advanced than the whole 80s even when he was a amateur
joe fought in a straight line moved head to much and up and down threw jabs and straight hooks did 2 punch combos Tyson fought in a straight line bkut once close punched from angles moved head around not just simple like joe didnt throw much jabs threw wide hooks jumped into punches when he was a distance from the person mike did this tyson would dodge while doin combos joe didnt do that ether did 4 or 5 punch combos mike did this joe fought from close range mike was mid range mike was a counter puncher joe wasnt a counter puncher he was a ducking and then punch take 1 and give one Not similar at all see how you shouldn't repeat quotes other followes who dont watch say so you had no reason to say a joe vs george match as it made no sense to compare
the young george def was weaker then his old ver u can see he had no real def in his young days tom showed punches wide like tyson and hitting quick punches would show a effect on George mike fought Smith who was slow and strong like George u weird people will say but he wasnt strong as George why do that matter as if if he had been as strong he would land no cause he was still slow why is it everytime we make the point of who mike fought that was comparable to George like smith and trever who did pushes yall say it's wrong when it's on video showing trever did pushes and smith was slow and strong like George but when yall say the blind quote of mike was like joe even tho they fought nothing alike that's right its hypocritical why would mike who had the best defense at the time in hw lose to George and mike fought smith who was strong but faster then frank and frank was almost as slow as George and almost as strong and neither one could hit mike much so why would George another proof is berbick which I exposed George wouldnt be able to keep doing that to keep space berbick abused it keep getting countered George was slower then berbick Mike had trouble with rangy fighters who fought from range who had lateral movement who had good hand speed and who had good defense They even say in the trever match which I described thats not the way to fight him he came nonstop forward Wasnt that the exact same way george fought? He didn't fight off the jab or use any lateral movement while fighting from distance george would lose off of the breakdown and even said by the commentaries like I said Mike wasnt joe his weaknesses wasnt a uppercut that he just kept running through especially not a slow easy to read one from a person as slow as george it was like I said a person who fought from range and who used good lateral movement Nobody has anybody George fought that can compare to mike so how is it they said he would beat Mike where does it come from its based off of nothing which is odd
Lol Canelo all the way, i'm not saying it would be a one sided fight for him but he would most likely win. Don't wanna hear delusional opinions from old school close minded fans.
Marvin comes forward hes going to get countered and picked apart. Canelo is dominating 168 and Marvin was too chickenshit to challenge himself above 160. RIP to the legend though
Dude when Hagler fought there wasn't no 168. You had to go straight to 175 (15 pound difference). Canelo ain't dominated 168. He ain't beaten Andrade, Charlo, Benevides or Morrell and they all his size and he done already ducked all of them except Morrell, but the first time their names come up in the same sentence, Canelo azz ducking. After Canelo knocks out GGG, he gonna start dropping belts or his azz gonna retire.
