While I agree the narration for the starting hand isn’t necessary I still generally like it when you show the starting hand and was wondering why it wasn’t there for game two.
Comments about the new video format: I appreciate putting the ad BETWEEN games and not in the middle of one. I would like to see the hands of the second game. Instant replay of the big plays at the end of the video are nice. Nice job, good games 👍
Ashani's final life totals point to a player who knows their limits exactly and pushes wins through precisions. Fun games and great plays from everyone. Congrats to Alani!
Opponents misplayed heavily though, casting 1 cmc knowing they had dispel was still on the top. Then casting into the dispel knowing when it was in hand. It for sure was a winning position and some luck as well.
Ashani was on point with that counterbalance! Interacting when he needed to and being smart with his plays! I love seeing Ashani on the table and his decks and gameplay don't dissapoint!
Welcome to the death throes of Marwyn as a Cedh commander. Mono-G was already struggling, but I feel like the first game perfectly exemplifies how backbreaking bowmasters is to the archetype. It was already struggling before its printing, now it doesn’t have a chance.
It's not just the Bowmasters, there's also so many mid game draw engines that tempo the game out too. That's the issue with Bowmasters as it creates two in-game dynamics that put a stax player further behind . I would run cards like Skyclave Apparition or Broadside Bombardiers if they are in your colors for removal to it. Skyclave is currently better but with the new thrull from Murders of Karlov, that probably will change.
Why ashani plays no mindcrank on his list for the combo with bloodchief ascension since he already playing it? Im new on cedh and might be missing something simple idk
At least Flash is no longer in the format, there was nothing worse in cEDH than losing to Protean Hulk before you even got to take your first turn of the game.
Counterbalance technically triggers on every spell cast. For the sake of the narration, we don't announce it if the player chooses to ignore the trigger.
With food chain and squee was the skirk necessary, couldn’t he recast korvold over and over to sac the squee to also draw cards or is it just cleaner if you have a way to get skirk
Korvold is a mandatory draw. A different payoff was absolutely necessary there since the other players had more life points than Ashani had cards in library. Korvold certainly can draw an arbitrarily large number of cards once this combo is established, but given the Mayhem Devil and Skirk Prospector were right there there was no need to spend the extra time.
I dont think Ashani needed his Skirk Prospector to win Game 2. After you have infinite jund mana you can just: cast Sqee, cast Korvold, sac Squee, ping with Mayhem Devil, exile Korvold to Food Chain, repeat
uhhh... weird and demeaning "little bro" comment aside, I was kinda implying that the (disliked) bow masters design was helpful in resolving a play pattern I dislike even more
there goes another bowmaster game, where the player drawing cards uses a 2nd player's orcish bowmaster to control a third player and win the game. bowmaster players are tools. bring back hullbreacher.
@@emerson685 Yep, ye olde ancient hypothetical, they also likely could have just countered them, but their presence is still universally game changing. The dies to removal argument stands as the weakest counterpoint still. I honestly WISH they had removal or a counter for either that first game, but it ain't always like that.
