I was 17, I joined the communist party, Margaret Thatcher was prime minister, Michael Foot led the Labour Party to a disastrous election and the miners strike was just around the corner. It seems so long ago now and this now seems so old. I remember wanting to buy Marx for Beginners and not having enough money to do so. Two years later I was an anarchist and no longer cared.
