Such a great lecture.. Can't get enough of it.. I listened to Justice lecture by Professor Sandel from Harvard and I was appreciating as to how they made the Justice so simple for a layman. But NOW SIR YOU MADE THIS complex study so simple and so meaningful and so lucid i can't praise and thank you enough.. We have lecturers of caliber beyond so called excellent lecturers of international universities.. Thanks very much Pathsala for hosting such wonderful faculty.
I have made this observation after watching various videos on studies that the lectures who has real knowledge, depth knowledge knows how to use their language, the words. It's like they understand the weight of words produced by them. As I can see here sir is taking account of (her) as of female also because he knows the importance and socio-political culture of this contemporary society whereas other online lectures uses only he, man and this repetitive words because they don't have any of their own they just speak what they have read. So understanding your audience and then producing the work can only be done by teachers like this.
Sir, as a reader of philosophy, history, historiography, political philosophy, literature, anthropology, your critical, radical exploration on Marxism and culture by giving ideological structures and marxism with the ideas of all Eurpean materialist making the public as consumers to understand the concepts is inspired. Thank you.
Very nice lecture, love the way you present the content as slides to match your speech. That really helps. On a personal note, when you said Univ. of Hyderabad, I was reminded of a neighbor, B. S. Ramakrishna, who returned to India to become the second vice-chancellor of the university.
very well explained sir...your each n every lesson is outstanding.... the concept is crystal clear....I have never met such a great teacher in my life...
It would have been a privilege to sit in his class and take down the notes. However, social media has reduced the distance and made this possible. Sir, it is simply great to learn this from you. Wish that VM could also make notes available on this.
We have no word to appreciate your knowledge and lucidity . I heartily request you to give lectures on university grammar . I thankful to you for your all lectures .
I have read many articles and books. It doesn't make any sense to me. I thought it is beyond my understanding. But the way you explain all these things. Its amazing. Thank you very much.
Salute to u sir for ur content, style, voice modulation, pace, examples and so many other things which make this lecture the best one I have ever listend. Thank u sir.
Promod k Nayar is the name that needs no introduction..an institution himself....big thanks to EPG paathshala that has made it possible for me to be in Sir's class... looking for many more such one-sided but surely interactive-educative sessions... indebted...🙏🙏🙏
OMG Sir, Can't agree with you more. I'm not sure of these studies and so much thinking already gone in by great people Althusser and what you're lecturing here as part of academia, but I've always thought of this in my general life style changes. How did America been successful in selling Jeans pants to the entire world. In a tropical country like India, hot and humid and where aeration is much needed, we're made to get mad over the Jeans culture/style and now many of us are made to argue that it's the most comfortable attire. So is the case with blazers. You want to look professional/business entrepreneur? Blazer is a must, irrespective of the climatic condition of your place and season of the time.. The make-up and beauty culture is not because of patriarchy, but because of Capitalism. Ppl want to sell us the products. So they sell the idea of "Tanning" in western countries and "Fair skin" in tropical countries..
I enjoyed this very much, however at he end of the lecture there seems to be many ideas that don't follow from the previous ones, very big theoretical leaps are made without support. To me these are the most interesting points that I am trying to understand, for instance how the post-structuralists can come to say there is no truth or how all these things are just in service of power (one of the last slides). They seem like very big claims, do the post structuralists hold that language is the only thing that exists? Because that seems the only basis that these claims could hold up, and that power is somehow just floating around in a vacuum, unrelated to anything in the real world, just a kind of arbitrary phenomena that invades language?
