friends, welcome back to Songs From Home, episode 48: Thanksgiving Song
Grateful for each hand we hold
gathered ‘round this table
from far and near we travel home
blessed that we are able
Grateful for this sheltered place
with light in every window
saying welcome welcome share this feast
come in away from sorrow
Father, mother, daughter, son
neighbor, friend and friendless
all together everyone
in the gift of loving kindness
Grateful for what’s understood
and all that is forgiven
we try so hard to be good
and make a life worth living
Father, mother, daughter, son
neighbor, friend and friendless
all together everyone
let grateful days be endless
Grateful for each hand we hold
gathered ‘round this table
What are you thankful for this holiday? It’s the small things that are keeping me going, like being able to be in nature, connecting with family and friends over Zoom, walking with Angus, napping with WK, writing songs, reading good books and bingeing shows online…and here in this space, I am so thankful for all of you, tuning in week after week and staying mighty!
I’m also thankful for the front line health workers, the grocery store clerks, the doctors, the post office workers, the delivery truck drivers, the folks who are out there every day, doing their jobs so that the rest of us can stay safe and well…
We hope to see you next Friday night at Wolf Trap! And on Saturday for the encore performance!
And happy Thanksgiving...
