I'd like to think Mary truly did love Elizabeth even if their relationship fractured. It's telling that she left Elizabeth alive and even set her free, when Elizabeth later chose to execute Mary Stuart when placed with a similar situation.
@Shane-Flanagan

Agreed, Mary could've easily had Elizabeth tortured or executed but she didn't and that says something. Despite theirs different mothers and religious differences, they were sisters. Mary had a hand in the bringing up and care of Elizabeth at Hatfield. Hard for Mary to not feel some love toward her sister

@CBA CBA I am as the comment said that when Elizabeth was in the same spot as her sister, she decided to execute Mary (queen of Scotts) while her sister Mary (queen of England) let Elizbeth live, so I point out that Mary (Scotts) tried to have Elizbeth killed

History tends to brush over this, but Mary I seemed to be a compassionate person. Her dealings with both her sister, and Lady Jane Grey, she did not want to execute Jane, show that. Yes she was Henry's daughter, but she was also Catherine of Aragons daughter. Don't forget that.

Elizabeth was Mary's sister, and like her daughter, she raised her. Of course, she felt sympathy for her. But Elizabeth did not even see Mary, Queen of Scots, not her sister, and their relationship was tense from the beginning. And Elizabeth let Mary live for many years and kill her when she was sure that Mary was trying to kill her. And if the first Mary had lived longer years, I don't think Elizabeth would be alive. Sorry because my English is very bad.

I think we don't have to be Team Catherine&Mary or Anne& Elizabeth. They both lost their mothers thanks to Henry's madness and they were alone and cast aside just because they were "illegitimate" and they changed England for the better, because many people don't know it, but Mary was the one who started restoring the Naval ships, trade and works and Elizabeth made a more peaceful transition to Anglicanism than their father and brother and was able to make England a Great Power Country.

"Consorts in realm and tomb, we sisters, Elizabeth and Mary, here lie down to sleep in hope of the resurrection." - That was the inscription on the tomb they shared. Wonder what these two sisters thought, felt, and said about that, as well as sharing a tomb together. While I will never ever know for sure how they truly thought and felt about each other in life and death, I still honestly hope that, in the other world, they have reconciled and made a fresh new start as true sisters.

Elisabeth was raised by Mary, she literally was put on Mary's care and it was said that Elisabeth was very fond of her as a toddler. And even if mary might have resented her, specially her mother, she recognized she was an innocent child. So Mary developped a care for her, even more when Henry also desinherited Elisabeth, that made Mary took pity on her and probably she was the only person that could understand Elisabeth situation as they had that in common. In fact Mary took part on playing Henry to pardon both and that came when their brother was born. Mary also brought her to her coronation hand in hand and also had her named heir. When a Protestant revolution occured, she should have executed Elisabeth and make the country catholic for good but instead she couldnt do it and forgave her.... then both sisters got burried together. This tells us that their relationship wasnt that bad, was probably good and loving.

Actually, when Thomas married Catherine Parr, Mary wrote to Elizabeth begging her to leave her stepmother's household and come live with her instead. She claimed it was because Cathrine dishonored their father by marrying so soon, but it's possible she knew there was something fishy about Thomas and was just using that as an excuse. Before marrying Catherine, he asked Edward VI's blessing to marry Elizabeth. He said no, but if he could convince Mary to wed him, he would have the king's blessing. Mary refused, so Thomas then married Catherine instead. Mary knew about Thomas's proposals to her and her sister( Elizabeth *probably* didn't), and might have been worried about Elizabeth being in his house. Also, during Mary's reign when her and Elizabeth became enemies, it's fascinating how Mary never used Thomas against her. That would have been the more obvious move, claiming5 she was "impure". Instead she used the allegations that she was involved in the Wyatt rebellion ( despite what most fiction depicts, this is an actual possibility) and claims that she may or may not be Henry's actual daughter. Although it would have been in her power to declare a false paternity, she never did. Fiction always makes Elizabeth out to be the perfect angelic angel in their sisterhood with Mary as the villain, but in real life it was more complicated than that.

I wish I can know just what went through Elizabeth's mind when she sat on that throne. But since I cannot, I would like to think it was something along the lines of: "I am going to end that man's entire dynasty.", along with flashbacks of her mother and the other wives. The pain, the suffering, the loneliness, the shame. She brought justice to the fallen wives by ending the Tudor lineage. This woman was a LEGEND.

It wasn't the crown that divided them so much as their faith did. Mary was born and raised Catholic and was determined to restore Catholicism to the kingdom, whereas Elizabeth was born and raised Protestant cuz of her father's break with Rome. Add to that the fact that their brother Edward cut them both out of the succession again to prevent Mary's Rise and the subsequent return of Catholicism and that after Mary's unpopular marriage to Philip II of Spain and the plots to put Elizabeth on the throne as a result of her prosecutions, it's no wonder their relationship was strained as a result.

I believe that Mary always had such a strong bond with her half sister even though she was the daughter of someone who took her mothers place as queen. Anne Boleyn was sneaky and it’s sad that Catherine had to go through such a hard time with confusion on why she needed to leave the castle. Mary put up with the normal stuff children go through. I've always wondered what kind of people they were really. What did they think of each-other personally, not as a Queen and her sister but as women whose mothers both suffered at the hand of their father. If I was in Mary's position, I would have probably hated Elizabeth too when she was born because she basically took Mary's place. But I think after her mother was executed, I would have felt sorry for Elizabeth and I would have taken her under my wing, considering that she would now have no one to take care of her interest.

A child should not be held responsible for a parent/another adult's actions. That's just petty. Also we can tell nothing happened without Henry's permission. No woman can deny his affections unless they'd risk their life and their families. Anne Boleyn just reciprocated it and why shouldn't she? All women were victims once he focused on them (including his daughters). Not all of them were gems but they were people in power, so it's expected they'll use it.

We was sexually abused at the age of 13 by a man who was 25 years older than her and that was supposed to protect her. She risked dying during her brother's reign, but during her sister reign she risked a lot more and was imprisoned. Just to clear things up, we can be neither team Elizabeth or Mary. Sure you can prefer one (for example I prefer Mary) but we don’t need to start any debates over this. They both dealt with horrible things from Henry and from each other. For example, Mary had to deal with being replaced by Elizabeth while Elizabeth wasn’t even allowed to mention her mother (Mary was allowed to talk about her mother and even snuck a letter to her mother through the Spanish ambassador) without getting in trouble. They both did bad things too, Elizabeth’s ratio of years of reign to kill rate is much higher (1:1014.222…)while Mary’s is lower (1:56). On the other hand Mary imprisoned her sister and almost had her executed. Overall there is no need to compare them as they were just as manipulative and as kind as each other.

Only Margaery Tyrell was a good queen, kept the people happy while most people were annoyed by Anne Boleyn. In today's terms, Anne Boleyn's PR team sucked bad at the time and Henry's behaviour did not help. Margaery knew how to make an image for herself and her PR team rocked until the High Sparrow came in but still she managed to rehabilitate her image until Cersei flipped over the game entirely. Both women were cunning tho, one was doing for the sake of her family and other had ambition(remember her dialogue "I want to be The Queen" when she was with Renly at the time).

all I've got to say is even though Mary and Elizabeth may have had a good relationship while they were both still alive, Elizabeth did not listen to all of Mary's will. She didn't rule the country as a Catholic like Mary asked, which I sort of understand bc if the reformation had never happened Elizabeth would not exist, but it's the fact that she didn't listen to Mary's wish to be buried with her mother which I think is disgraceful. Yes Mary wanted to move Catherine from Peterborough to somewhere more suitable which Mary never got to do but the fact Elizabeth is buried ontop of Mary is terrible as their is a perfectly good place in Peterborough where Mary would be next to her mother.

No wonder Mary became more cruel then Elizabeth, since Henry never loved Mary and showed more love towards Elizabeth and Edward, and just casted her aside, abondand her anne bolyen and Katherine Howard never showed love to her Katherine Howard was younger than her blackmailed by her father tonmarry her, her father sent away her one and only love. But she did love her sister Elizabeth as she knows she been through the similar trail, Henry just loved Anne bolyen and Jane seymour. So you see that s why Mary turned evil that she had been much worser trauma than elizabeth
@gracegallimore4580
@gracegallimore4580 2 года назад
Mary hated Anne because everybody knew and was a whore who essentially used the Kings insecurity about not being able to have a son with the first Catherine, Mary's mother, and promised him a son in exchange for him being disowned by the church and marrying her to make her a queen. When Anne could not bear any child other than elizabeth, Mary saw this as an opportunity to use Elizabeth as a bargaining chip. She made sure that Anne was sought out as an evil harlot and a witch so Elizabeth would be seen as a bastard as well, suffering the same horrible fate and making sure that she would have the equal treatment and trauma as young Mary did because Mary did not want Elizabeth to be happy. She hated Edward because Edward was the only male heir to the throne, and despite being the youngest, he would be the only one to be able to surpass her and become king. She only played the role of the good daughter to stay and Henry's good enough graces because she was originally exiled with her mother. From a young age, Mary hated all of her half siblings and her father's other lovers. She planned to take the throne for herself, and her eyes, as a product of all her trauma, she was going to write all the wrongs her father did while he was thinking with his dick and his ego while blowing up at the slightest provocation. And Mary's eyes, she was returning the country back to its original pure state. The way things should have been, before her father ruined everything to be with Elizabeth's mother. And when they grew older and Elizabeth posed as a threat to her, she did anything in her power to make sure that Elizabeth was seen as a bastard, evil, and undesirable. She wanted her sister to know that she was never going to be first pick and that she was never supposed to be alive. Mary did anything to try and ruin Elizabeth to secure the throne for herself. But she ended up screwing herself over in the end, and when Elizabeth came to rule, Mary the Queen of Scots, was put to death.

@@yay29823actually he cared for elizabeth more, especially after marrying anne. after anne was beheaded, he did not care for either of them that much - so there was not a "least favorite" daughter. they were both declared illegitimate for a reason, they were both reminders of his first 2 wives he did not care for anymore. he was so dedicated to trying to conceive a son, he probably forgot about mary and elizabeth a lot. then after edward was born, that is the only child he loved and cared for. it's literally that simple.

Incredible! Although I have seen all these films, this is somehow far more enjoyable & exquisite. Movies can become tedious, but these clips, brought together as you have done, seem much more riveting & intriguing. If you have not done so already, you should be making film trailers professionally. Thank you so much for this beautiful artwork. Do not think that just because these films were made beforehand, that you do not deserve as much credit for your inspiration & creativity - all artists manipulate previously heretofore produced works to create their masterpieces... And likewise, so have you.
