I am definitely growing closer to our most Holy Theotokos what a blessing. Other then venerating her Icon with a kiss I found lighting a candle at the Icon of the Theotokos at the Parish a great way to break the walls down as a former protestant. I liken it to bringing a flower to my mom.

Catholics don't worship Mary. Just like the Orthodox, we venerate her. Only the Triune God is worshipped, period.

Okay, ok, look at the word Mary (Mariam, Moria...). In Song of Songs she says "Although I am Black (Moria) I am beautiful". In Germanic biblical history Mary is a Black (Schwarze Mohrin) German with Child from Jordan (Moab) and her people settled Moria. In Dutch History she is Black but a Country called Morea (Iberian Peninsula) which all Europeans come from. In Danske biblical history she is Black (Mori). Where does the White mother (Bidhad) without child come from? I ask because Black(Mor) literally means Mother. White means non aboriginal or Non Mother unless she is a pale Black or Black Albino. Hence Mor(ia) = Black Female aboriginal. I'm just saying, why teach the word at the same time as placing incorrect images into people's head? Furthermore, doesn't the name also mean Black Jewel. Now is it not true that in the bible Blacks are called Saints and Apostles? Yes it's true! Due to years of misinformation today Blacks are considered Undesirables and their religious culture and rituals are now considered White (Non-Aboriginal) Culture.

Guess, what ,adamantis4657, we do call ourselves Coptic orthodox but if oriental makes you happy then we are oriental too :-). But does names really matter ? No. For God sees things differently (Thank God). The good news is that we the Copts are very special to Jesus. He visited our land when He was a child. Sorry , He did not visit yours. He also said ," Blessed be my people of Egypt." The apparition of the virgin Mary a few times in our churches is a proof that Jesus accepts us .He listens to our prayers. Reading the comments by many of you, a documentary that was supposed to glorify the Mother of God some how was turned into some kind of bigotry and self righteousness. Christ said, "those of you who seek to be first will be last." God Himself our Lord Jesus Christ was humble. If the Greek Orthodox Church taught you to go around labeling fellow or perhaps not fellow Christians in this type of evil spirit then I wonder on the authenticity of your orthodoxy. The heart of God is mercy. It is sad day for me as a film maker indeed. Even sadder, I used a Greek orthodox book for refrence for my research for the film...because I thought they were our brothers...and they do have excellent books in English. :/ a sad day in the Christian world. Romans 8:34. “Therefore He (Christ) is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them”. Hebrews 7:25. Jesus Christ is our only mediator, who also intercedes for us before the Father. Why do we need Mother Mary to intercede for us as many claim? There is nothing in Scripture - no Words of Christ, or the apostles, or St Paul, or St John the beloved - that teaches believers to venerate the Theotokos. I have researched and studied for years the Holy Orthodox faith which I respect greatly, but I fear the teaching concerning St Mary is based upon human human tradition, not the Word of God. Seek Christ only. He is sufficient. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father but by Him (John 14:6). God bless all.

Despite what the original Greek words mean, the whole given explanation on Brotherhood as used in the Bible is so wrong. Especially, that about the brothers of Jesus we hear only in one passage. If this was a common name for some camarades or friends of Jesus, the word" brothers" should have been used more often. On the other side, in the Middle East cultures as it is in some others, they name a brother people who are actually cousins. However, it will robbed Mary from nothing of the glorious plan and position God has given her, if she would be just a woman after giving birth to Jesus>. Why the Churches think so small of God!

The Lord Jesus would have given His mother to John for more reasons than here is stated. First of all, He would have given her under care of someone whom He can trust the most. And John was His beloved disciple, moreover, the only one who remained close to Him during the crucifixion, The others escaped!!! Who knows who were those "brothers of the Lord. Mother of the man Jesus, who put His power aside to be born of a women and certainly she is not the mother of God. Jesus experienced all that humans experience because he became a man for the purpose of death by crucifixion for us. She was an ordinary young girl, a virgin espoused to Joseph. The Holy Spirit is that which is holy and caused Mary to conceive even though she was from the seed of Adam, which carried the curse of sin . Jesus is sinless when born and sinless when He died and rose again. Mary needed salvation just like everyone of us and said as much in the Gospel. She had children after Jesus as it was against the law to withhold herself from her loving husband Joseph. You want to make a hero out of Mary and call her mother or holy, or mother of god, but that would be raising her up equal with God and we know we serve the one and only true God and His Son our Savior is Lord of all and there is none like Him or equal to Him. So that's Biblically all that I have to say on the subject of all these false aperations that Jesus warned us not to be deceived about and you are being deceived. No one is supposed to be appearing but Jesus one day and anything else is of Satan, the deceiver and he sure is doing a fantastic job of it. I saw her too... in my bedroom when I was a child. I thought it was an angel or some spirit apparition, but I remember the feeling that a loving, caring person was looking over me. After watching this video and seeing the image of the blessed virgin in Zeitoun, I realize that it was the Theotokos I saw, watching over me as I lay in my bed. I was not raised Christian. My life has been a spiritual struggle. I grew up in a community of spiritists and psychics, so I was exposed at an early age to demonic influences. Now I am 48 and preparing to be baptized into the Orthodox Church. I realize now that all my life the Theotokos has been interceding before the throne of Christ, on my behalf, even though I am an unbaptized sinner. Glory to God! I am aware of the controversies in the Eastern Orthodox Church concerning ecumenism and interfaith communion, but I will always consider Copts, Armenians, Assyrians, and other "Oriental Orthodox" Christians to be my brothers and sisters in Christ. Most holy Theotokos, save us!

I see people bickering about whether Orthodox or the Catholic Church is the true faith. Please understand that we were one church until 1054 AD. Both these churches revere Mary as the Holy Virgin Mother of God.

Orthodoxy is a piano with a full set of keys. Catholic have three quarter of the keys. The Protestants even less. Until these so called modern church have but a few keys of the piano. If these Christians educated themselves they would see the orthodoxy is the original and most purest faith handed down from the apostles themselves. The Holy Grail is a cup or vessel that can receive the divine grace of God, and that’s what she was. This channel is not Orthodox but Coptic "Orthodox", which together with Oriental "Orthodoxy" are one of the earliest herecies from the first Millenium. They cut themselves off from the canonical Eastern Orthodox Church so word to the wise, this is not true Orthodoxy but actually Kakodoxy.
