Arc ships could be Salarian. You seem to forget that we never saw a Salarian ship in the trilogy. Also given the Tempest's pilot(and possibly designer), it's probably more Salarian as well.
how come you never did a follow up of this video post release of the game? im sure you d have lots to say about the tempest and nomad after actaully trying them and seing them in full?
The Ark ship @ 3:35 reminds me of the Collector ship in ME2 with the retractable arms from the crucible. Being a live ship it could be taking a cue from the design of the Citadel.
It IS a fun game. Gameplaywise it's the best ME since 1. It has its problems, mostly smaller fixable stuff that won't be fixed as the hysterical shitstorm made Bioware abandon all further work on it.
wydm? Most of it lines up with canon... Also, you should try the game, appart from the facial animations it is alright and has the best gameplay of any mass effect game.
The Tempest has to be my favorite ship in all of sci-fi. It's model is inspired after the SR-71 blackbird an aircraft capable of our running missiles in certain situations. The Tempest follows that similar design its just fast... really really fast. No guns it can just get in an out of situations so effortlessly and is probably the perfect scout/reconnaissance ship in Sci-Fi. I used to have a poster of the Blackbird when I was younger so seeing a ship based off of it's design in a game that I love gets me in a really soft spot. I wish they'd come out with more content for Andromeda because it would be a shame to have such a beautiful ship have such little screen time.
The Tempest looked cool and all but being unarmed (hell, the whole Andromeda Initiative was practically unarmed in terms of ship defense) was just stupid. Being able to run is hardly a defense against an aggressor. Also, you don't need to demonstrate to that you're not a threat to potential allies by rendering yourself defenseless.
this. I always found that kind of stupid and I think the people who came up with this have not watched / read any existing ScienceFiction ever. Even in Star Trek Federation has their ships equipped with phasers and torpedos and they are mostly meant to explore new areas of the galaxy and make first contact. Also I'd say some of the first contacts would've ended with the ship / the Federation being wiped out if they had no means of self defense. Proving to someone you're not a threat can be done by not shooting them instead of not being able to repell an attacker. Rant over. It was an okayish game though.
About the Mako's deployment/retrieval: The Normandy SR1 was capable of atmospheric flight but not planetary landing. She could land in docks on a planet but had no landing gear. Thus the requirement to deploy the Mako in flight and similarly collect it in flight. The Tempest on the other hand is capable of planetary landing.
sorry, but you're wrong We can see Normandy landed near the STG camp on Virimire while preparing to attack Saren's base, so she was pretty capable of landing. The reason, why Mako was deployed in flight, was probably the fact, that this would be safest. Remember, you are deploying on an uncharted world and you have no idea, what's waiting down there. It is much safer to deploy an APC than land a ship - even if you end up on top of a Thresher Maw nest, you would loose s substantialy cheaper APC and only a couple of crew members.
One thing I didn't like about the tempest is that the landing gears seem to be attached to the ramps. So every time they land, the front door is open. Serious security risk lol
Have the game they do leave before the reaper war (1 year or even a few months before) and it says so in game. None of the ships are armed. Five named arks and and the tempest is a smaller ship then the sr1 not much but it be pushing it to call her a frigate or corvette. She's a since vessel with some stealth systems. Hide or run. The "mayko" is a nomad unarmed exploration and mining vehicle. It has upgrade for deployment shields latter. But all in all they are nice.
I just wanted to (nerd-)mention that those ships above the inhabited plantet (likely Earth) could also be just Geneva class cruisers since those look rather similar to dreadnoughts and only really differ in scale.
The difference is that the "fins" of the Geneva-class cruisers were lager than the main body while those of the Kilimanjaro class are roughly the same size
Mmmh you're right. I didn't realise that. Thank you, oh great rocket genius. But I still cant tell the difference from the angle presented in the trailer anyways. If this wuld be a 3D trailer... Damn you Bioware! I'm sure this will be the crucial plot point in the game! We need to solve this!
Reminds me of a line from a ME fanfic ^^ Shepard "We can drop the Mako from as high as low orbit if we have to" Ground team: *collective groans* Shepard "We just prefer not to"
i hope they go more into detail with the ship this time... not like in me1 where the normandy didn't even had beds for the crew or the SR2 where was to less livingroom but that huge cic and middle part of the ship for no real reason... and the captainsquaters were way to big in realtion to the other quaters on the ship. Just a little more thought trough shipdesign maybe where the inside fits the outside and not so much wasted space. I hope the hangar of the new ship carries at least two shuttles i mean even if the ship is able to land (which is very cool and i like that a lot) there are still reasons where you could use a shuttle for example you could have saved Ashly and kaiden in masseffect 1 if you could have get to both at the same time with a shuttle and the normandy. And i hope that they don't get to far appart from the story it would be sad if we get no input about the reapers or to what they are the solution... If its a whole other game and just set in the masseffect universe without any link to the previous games except for the races and shipdesigns that would be sad...
In the ark shot there are 3-4 ark ships, there will probably be up to 12 ark ships leaving. The common assumption is that they leave before the events of ME3, because the project is massive and there is no way that the Reapers wouldn't take notice. Also, in the new teaser the Earth is clearly not burning and the lunar base is intact.
3:34 that big ship, i do see some quarian ship design in the middle, that ball shape ? The long hull part seems to remind alliance or turian ship design ? Good analysis !
I was gonna say it looks a hell of a lot like the crucible... four fins, giant sphere of similar colour and it makes sense they'd use such a power source to power the engines needed to get to Andromeda.
I'm willing to bet that everyone who is saying "This fleet leaves before the Reaper War" is wrong. Look at the Ark. Between the two large sections (which are detachable confirmed in a walkthrough video bioware had) there is a structure there that oddly resembles the head of the crucible as well as the four fins at the back are also a lot like the fins the crucible in ME3 used to secure itself to the Citadel... and as we know in ME3 the crucible essentially was a massive power source. My theory is that after the reaper war, a joint council effort was made to explore Andromeda and to get there they used crucible style power sources that powered the engines needed to bring them there.
Then the level of design similarities that I have pointed out are confusing as it completely deviates from the designs that the species in ME seem to use.
tempest otherwise yah... though it's worst side is that it is toothless... meaning completely unarmed which makes no sense when going into the unknown never knowing what is waiting
to be fair the entire initiative were a bunch of naïve idiots, no defense force of any kind, no ships to defend yourself, thinking everything was going to be sunshine a daisies
if it was larger than the sr2 then it wouldnt be able to land on a planets surface like the sr2 its would have to deploy ground teams on shuttles in the air like the sr2 had to
Well if they are going to andromeda to colonize, why not bring a fleet? It would be much easier bringing all the bothersome andromeda aliens in line. Just bolt a few of those kilimanjaro's to the side and you're set. Maybe a few cruisers too.
My theory is, these large Citadel-like vessels are for deploying a large mass relay when they succeed upon arriving to the Helios cluster in Andromeda. Just....a guess.
Probably not since there's only Andromeda near the Milky Way. Other galaxies are much much farther away and even continue to move away from us. But I guess if you make it to one galaxy you could also make it to another. It simply would take a lot longer to travel there. I like the idea though.
Maybe, just maybe the council races figured how to achieve intergalactic travel in a reasonable timescale while salvaging and repairing the Mass relays. You know, some tweaks here and there and maybe you'll be able not only to downsize them to be mounted on ships rather than orbiting stars but also to go intergalactic. If this is the case distance shouldn't hinder them.
Wernher von Kerman it also depends on why they decide to do it in the first place also their is a few dwarf galaxy's closer to us then the Andromeda galaxy that are really big when you get down to it.
A galaxy is a large place, and it's highly unlikely there's a Mass Relay network there as well. They most likely built several Colony ships for different regions of Andromeda, to bolster the chances of a successful established colony.
also in the trailer shepherd says good bye to them it is confirmed that andromda takes place along time after ME3 so it could be that the ARK's left during the reaper war as their cycles back up plan in case they lossed the war. and that it just took them a very long time to get to andromeda if this is the case they very likely did send out alot of ARK's and likely to more than one galaxy
it can be good if they include some random events, intresting quests, and i hope that they include a story thats unfolds while you explore the andromeda galaxy oh and less content behind a pay wall :D and on the normandy you can see only the sr-1 or sr2 tags or am I wrong? the tempest could also be a completely new ship type of developed as successor of the normandy
Argiris Papadopoulos It shows the design history of humanity. For example Star Trek has design lineages for its main races, The Federation has saucer, nacelles and a secondary hull, Klingons have bird like vessels as do Romulans. The fact they hint at each other means the Tempest and Normandy share a design lineage which makes ME a bigger world.
